Beauty and the Beast Book Tag // Only a few more days!! Shh, I’m not obsessed.

Another Beauty and the Beast-themed post? Why, yes, yes it is. Hush, no, I’m not obsessed with Beauty and the Beast…! But seriously, I haven’t done a book tag in SUCH a long time and this one is perfectly-themed. ❤ I was tagged by Emily @ Embuhleeliest–thank you so much! (My current obsession with Beauty and the Beast is being satisfied with this tag, pretty much so I AM GRATEFUL.)

Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you.
  • Mention the creator; Kirsty at Kirsty and the Cat Read.
  • Match a book to each of the songs/characters below.
  • Tag as many people as you like.

“Tale As Old As Time” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading

Does the sassy/sarcastic/witty character count as a trope?? I say it does. It’s very common, I think? I will never get bored of reading it though?! Looking back on my reads, so many of my favourite books have at least one, if not more, witty character and I LOVE THEM. They just bring so much light and just always bring a smile to my face. I just get all the banter via them and it’s so amazing, especially if you love the characters. Some of my favourite books with this trope:

Oh my preciouussssss children; Will, Kaz, Nina, Wylan, Jesper & Co, Blue & the Raven Boys (!!!!!!!!!!!)

I can’t seem to think of any contemporary novels right off the bat, which is a problem… #moresassycharactersplz

Belle – A book you brought for its beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

JUST LOOK AT IT. It’s so beautiful it makes me want to cryyyyy. ❤ ❤ It seems to be a hit-or-miss among readers, but for me it was definitely a hit! I didn’t fall in love with it as much as others, granted, however I did love the beautiful writing and other aspects of it, which is great because THAT COVER. If I didn’t love the story it would be such a shame haha. (Am I the only one who kind of adored Kamala more than the main character though…)

Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you

Starflight by Melissa Landers

Prior to picking up this book, I had read the author’s previous book, Alienated, which I was not the biggest fan of, so I’ll admit, I didn’t have high hopes for this one? I really shouldn’t judge on past experiences? But, I was wary anyway. Fortunately it seems like I had nothing to be wary of, because I ended up loving this book! I fell in love with the characters the plot was exciting, and it was just a really great experience. I need to read Starfall now though, asap!

Gaston – A book everyone loves that you don’t

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

I wouldn’t say everyone loves this?? Because I do know a fair amount of people who were disappointed/didn’t enjoy this book. However, I think this series in general has a relatively large fanbase and many people did love this one (which is awesome!! GO ENJOY BOOKS, children) but, unfortunately, I just couldn’t help but be disappointed. Mare was so annoying, and there were just many things that didn’t click for me (that I can’t remember specifically because #terriblememory here whoops). I’m holding out hope for King’s Cage though? PRAY FOR ME.

Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart

Sevro from Red Rising series by Pierce Brown

This one was SO hard because generally, I love the sidekick less or equally as much as the main character? But guys, SEVRO. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Darrow, but SEVRO IS AMAZING. I loved him so so so much, and as much as I was concerned with everyone’s fate, his was one that I especially looked out for because guys, he is so great. So loyal, so brave, so fierce, witty and aghhhh. He deserves all the love!! ❤

Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumière & Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable

A List of Cages by Robin Roe

This book didn’t exactly help me through a difficult time, but it did teach me something so valuable, and SO IMPORTANT. Julian’s story was so heartbreaking, but showed the value of kindness, of friendship, of love, and the profound impact a person can have on others–see?? SO VALUABLE ahhhhh I loved it so much. ❤ ❤

“Something There” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

I haven’t yet read the fifth book, but I really enjoyed Frozen Tides. I got onto a rough start with the first book, mostly due to the characters, and the very cliché plot. Although the clichés didn’t necessarily diminish as the books went on, I did get more drawn to the characters and the action kept me invested, so that’s a plus! I’m looking forward to reading Crystal Storm, though at the moment it’s not exactly a priority… #strugglesoftoomanybooks

“Be Our Guest” – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner

Kell and Rhy from Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Did you really think I’d get through this post without mentioning them?? Haha. Nope. But seriously, having these two over for dinner would be so amazing?? Rhy’s sense of humor and charisma is SO GREAT (*cry as I am reminded he is not real*) and KELLLL. ❤ ❤ Why aren’t they reallllllll. *cries some more*

That’s it for this post!! Join me in my B&B-obsessed party (or perhaps not because it is very difficult to escape once you have–I’m warning you!) and let me know your thoughts! What book is your Belle/Beast/Gaston/Lefou/etc? Who would you invite to dinner? (Or you could join me and Kell & Rhy, of course. :P) Happy Tuesday!

EDIT: I didn’t tag anyone for this, but if you want to do this tag, GO FOR IT. I take back any of my warnings, come join me in my B&B party and link back to this post if you do the tag. And if you have done it already, be sure to send me the link down below so I can come check it out. 🙂

  1. Great picks for this tag Analee, and I love the Beauty and the Beast theme you have going on over here as well. Definitely shows you’re excited for the movie and all! 😀
I agree with so many of your answers. Sassy characters are a trope (I think we can definitely call it a trope) I love seeing as well, the whole of the Six of Crows crew are an ultimate favourite of mine. Also I love The Star-Touched Queen, it may be a hit and miss book but it was a major hit for me, and Sevro is my favourite character from the Red Rising trilogy as well. I still need to read Morning Star but I can’t wait to get around to it! 😀
Oh my god Kell and Rhy would be amazing dinner guests, and maybe you’d be able to convince Kell to take you to Red London as well, just for a little bit! 🙂
Do you have anything else planned for your Beauty and the Beast themed section on your blog Analee? If you do I’ll be interested to see what you come up with! 😀 ❤

    • Thank you!! Haha I was worried I was over-doing it, I probably am, but I can’t wait to watch the movie and it’s a fun theme to write on.
And right?!! Sassy characters are the best and the Six of Crows gang is absolutely amazing and one of the best books featuring the trope. The Star-Touched Queen was lovely, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And oh my gosh Beth, you HAVE to read Morning Star. 😆😍 It will give you all the feels and abxmlwnxwkabgh I can’t wait for you to read it haha. ❤
Yesss that would be amazing??! I wouldn’t let Kell leave until he does! 😂
I do! I’m going to be talking about what I love about Beauty and the Beast and also share some of the B&B retellings I’ve read/heard of. ❤❤ I’m so glad to hear that!! 💞

      • No it’s always fun to do something like this, besides with a movie this hyped up I’m actually surprised I haven’t seen more people doing Beauty and the Beast themed posts.
Six of Crows would win an award for sassy characters, there are so many of them.
Morning Star is on my to-read list, and I know it will be amazing as well it’s just the matter of actually getting around to it that seems to stump me a the moment.
Ohh I’ll be interested in seeing that post then! 😀 ❤

  2. B AND BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH *fangirls* AGH MY CROWS. AGH MY RAVENS. AND AGH KELL AND RHYYYYYY. (Also, I totally agree with Glass Sword??? I actually got King’s Cage today just to see how it ends, because Mare got really annoying/paranoid for me in GS.)

    • Thank you!! And yesss! ❤ Shades of Magic series is an absolute MUST for you to read sometime haha it's amazing, and it just gets better with each book! Falling Kingdoms is really good too, it might be best to wait for the last book to be released though. I hope you enjoy both series! ❤

  3. Beauty and the Beast!!! I adore this tag. And I am right there with you on being obsessed with all things Beauty and the Beast right now.
I love the sassy character trope as well, never a dull moment with characters like that. And I am completely with you on Glass Sword. I kind of want to go back and change my rating because I rated it four stars I think and the more time that goes on the more I realize just how much I didn’t like it. I was completely disappointed and nearly DNFed because of something that happened. Alos, I haven’t finished ADSOM just yet but having Rhy and Kell over for dinner would definitely be interesting lol. Great answers for this, Analee!! 😁💕

    • Yesss!! 😍😍 Ahah right??! ❤ Glad I’m not alone haha.
Agreed!! They keep things so interesting and alive. 😍
Glass sword was so disappointing, which is sad because I was looking forward to it!
Haha yep, never a dull moment with those two! I hope you enjoy ADSOM/enjoyed ADSOM!! And thank you! 💞😊

      • Same! I even reread Red Queen and was so hyped and then I read Glass Sword and nope it just didn’t work out.
I LOVED ADSOM! I finished it yesterday and all I want to do is dive into AGOS but I have to wait until I get paid so that I can buy it lol.
        You’re welcome!! 😊💕

  4. Ooh I love the sassy character!! I adore Sevro and Kell and Rhy!!! All such awesome characters!! And I agree that the Falling Kingdoms series keeps improving- I also have become ridiculously attached to all the characters over the course of the books 🙂

  5. Oh, how I love a good sassy character! Will was freaking hilarious in The Infernal Devices! And also yes to the other characters you mentioned! I love them all!

I always get really excited when I see other people love Kell and Rhy too. I don’t know WHY I get excited, it almost feels like a given that people LOVE the trilogy and it’s characters! I haven’t read ACOL yet and I just can’t wait to jump back into that world. But I am also SO worried for all of these characters.

    • Right?! 😍 Oh my gosh Will was the bestttt I loved him so much ahah. Kell and Rhy are such amazing characters, I always get so excited when others love them too! I just love them so much it makes me so happy when others do as well. ❤ Oh my gosh, ACOL is so great!! I think you’ll love it?!! But the characters go through so much aghhhhhhhh my heart was destroyed. 💞 GOOD LUCK.

      • I actually managed to start the book last night (after having such a great weekend reading wise, I figured better start now) and I got about 50 pages into the book and it was a damn roller coaster! That scene with Kell at the beginning? I legit had tears in my eyes! And then with Alucard and Rhy too! And just, DAMN. I don’t even want to know what happens next now that Kell is back in Red London. The HEART BREAK.
