I kind of reached my 1-year blogiversary?!! | Spotlight Saturday #4 (February 20th)

Helloooooo! It’s the weekend once again (THANK GOD) and it’s also a Saturday, so I’ve decided to participate once again in Spotlight Saturday! I hadn’t been anticipating the fact that I would leave such a long time in between my last Spotlight Saturday (back in January, I think) but I guess it happened anyway. Better late than never, am I right?!

Spotlight Saturday is a meme hosted by Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner. Here’s the official blurb from it on her blog:

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

Okay, so as you can probably understand from the title of this post, I REACHED MY 1-YEAR BLOGIVERSARY!! Well, kind of. I mean, yes I did indeed reach it, according to WordPress—I honestly can’t believe it’s already been a year!!—but I’ve decided it’s more of a kind-of blogiversary because it’s the date I created this blog—I didn’t actually start posting anything until near the end of March. Hence it’s my kind-of blogiversary. BUT STILL. 1 YEAR. I’m kind of in a state of shock?!! That I actually managed to keep this blog up for so long?? Especially since it did NOT feel like a year has passed, honestly.

I will actually be doing a giveaway sometime in March though, in celebration of my blogiversary as well as my own birthday! Two in one, I guess, haha. So keep an eye out for that! Technically my blog did start in March, so it’s totally justified—and my birthday, well, it happens to be around the same time (March 24th). My first post was, like, in March 11th? And then I think I took a 9-day hiatus or something and posted again on March 20th. XD So. Kind of confusing, but point is; look forward to a birthday and blogiversary giveaway coming sometime this March! ❤ My gift to you. 😉

But thank you so much for supporting me this past year! Even if you’re new here. I’m going to keep repeating the same thing, to be honest. I can’t believe a year has passed already! My blog and I have grown so much within that time… It seems like so much less, and I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for all of you, so THANK YOU. *Brings out confetti and chocolate and cake and party hats*

Spotlighted Blogger 2

As in last week’s Spotlight Saturday, I’m going to be spotlighting a few bloggers I’ve known for a while, as well as a few that I recently started talking to or would like to know better—because #BLOGGERLOVE!! 😀 Let’s do this.

Oldies, but lovelies (LOLLL sounds weird but you know what I mean)

Michelle’s blog is one I’ve been following for a LONG time—and her posts never get old. This girl’s blog is just amazing! (Read: Go check out her blog NOW.) I love reading her posts! 🙂

Another wonderful blog, Poulami posts insightful reviews of a variety of books, and they’re great to read! She also has many other entertaining posts. Go show her some love! ❤

I’ve been following Raven’s blog for a while now! I’m always envious at how much she keeps up with her reviews, haha. XD That’s something I’m still working on, oops! Her blog is filled with all sorts of great posts. 😀

Kat’s blog is filled with a variety of posts, and I love it! ❤ From TV, to books to tags to everything else, her blog is always lots of fun to surf around.

Blogs I’ve Discovered Recently or Want to Get to Know More…

Isabella is a more recent blogger friend I’ve discovered on the blogosphere and she is absolutely lovely! (She loves Harry Potter. And Percy Jackson. Enough said. :P)

I’m not sure when I found Anna and her blog—but I’m so glad I did! Anna is such a friendly person and her blog is wonderful. Plus, we seem to have a similar taste in books so yay!

I’ve been following this blog for a long time??? But I’ve only recently gotten the chance to actually comment, because TOO MANY BLOGS AND TOO LITTLE TIME. Gah. But I’d love to get to know both Trang and Lashaan more!

I’ve actually been following Becca for a while (I think???) but only recently have I really talked to her. Her blog is absolutely lovely and I love it! She is also a very nice person, and I’d really love to talk to her more often. 😉

Glass Sword

Soooo, I finished Glass Sword?? And it was quite the roller-coaster of emotions by the end of it—but I’m kind of disappointed to say that I was left indifferent for a large part of the story.. Not exactly sure what caused it? But, up till the 40-50% mark, I was just kind of reading about it all, not as emotionally connected or absorbed as I would’ve liked to be. Indifferent at the beginning, intense at the end… overall a good read I suppose.

Spotlighted App 2

Ehhhh sorry, nothing for this one this week! Heheh I’m dreadfully uncreative when it comes to spotlighting apps…

Spotlighted Song 2

I’ve been listening a lot of Lindsey Stirling lately (seriously, her music is amazing), so basically her whole Shatter Me album?! Her skill with the violin is astounding! You should definitely check out her channel here.

Spotlighted Quote 2

More Happy Than Not Quote

More Happy Than Not is one of my reads this week (though it’s on pause as I started Gathering Darkness, heheheh..) so I thought it would be a good fit to have a quote from it this week! And I haven’t reached this quote yet, but this is such a lovely one. ❤

So that’s it for this week’s Spotlight Saturday! Once again, thank you so much for being with me on my blogging journey as it hits one year (I honestly still can’t believe it), make sure to look forward to a giveaway sometime this March! 😀 Unfortunately it won’t be of chocolate, but books are better, soooo you’re welcome. In advance. If you win. Ah, whatever. Point is, thank you!! Also, chocolate is delicious. That all made no sense whatsoever. Moving on, I hope you all check out the blogs and posts I mentioned above! ‘Cause they really are amazing. ❤ Have any of you read Glass Sword?? What did you think of it?

I hope you guys are all having an amazing Saturday!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

Where I share awesome bloggers and cool blog posts (and other stuff..?) | Spotlight Saturday #3 (January 23rd)

Yay for the weekend! It feels like it’s been forever where I actually get the whole day off from school and just life in general. *SIGH* So, it’s been a while since I did a Spotlight Saturday post, so I figured I might as well do it for this week! It’s a super fun meme hosted by Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner; here’s the official blurb of it from her blog!

Blogging has been made such an incredible experience thanks to MANY amazing people, but for now, I’m just going to spotlight a few who I’ve admired and interacted with for a while—almost since the beginning of my blogging journey.

This girl has such an amazing blog. Her posts are always fun to read—not to mention I can almost always count on her recommendations. 😀 Her reviews, discussions, etc. are always so insightful. Go show her some love if you haven’t already!

Another lovely blogger, Becca is so inspiring! She’s genuine, funny, and her blog posts are always great. 😉 Her reviews are also definitely something I love to read! (And her graphics are pretty cool too!) Again, go and show her some love, because she deserves it.

Summer’s blog is one of the firsts I started following! One of my first memories of her and her blog is when we first talked about the VA series by Richelle Mead, LOL. We both came such a long way since then and I’m so glad to have met her!

I know I’m repeating things here—but what can I do if so many bloggers are so wonderful?! Bhramori is another fabulous blogger who has always supported me and her comments are so lovely! She’s such a fun person and great to talk to.

And, also, a few bloggers that I would absolutely LOVE to get to know more…

I actually had been following Tanaz for quite some time I think, but only recently really talked to her! And I’m sorry it took so long, because she and her blog are both absolutely lovely. ❤

I only recently discovered Brigitte’s blog, but I’m so glad I did! This blogger has been super nice to me and her blog seems great. So go ahead and show her some bookish love!

I’m not exactly sure for how long I’ve followed Prima over at her blog Panda Hearts Books, but one thing’s for sure: I definitely want to get to know her more! She is lovely and her blog is great. 🙂

Again, I don’t exactly know how long I’ve been following this blog, but this blog and its owner is fantastic. I’ve only recently started to actually talk to Cait, but she is SO NICE and her posts are always so much fun to read. (Also, her discussions are simply on point!)

A LOT more bloggers come to mind but alas, I cannot spotlight all of you (uhhh, let’s see, that would be around 500+? JK, but you know what I mean. :P) All of these bloggers are amazing though and I’m so glad I came across them in the blogging world.

Guess what book I recently started?! Yep, I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. How could I not? After seeing SO MANY amazing reviews on this, I finally gave in and I’m reading it. 😀 And so far, I’m really liking it!! ❤

Huh. I’m not exactly sure about this one! Nothing exciting really happened, to be honest. Mostly just work, work and more work. Oh, and school. And work. And studying. -_- Although I was planning on going to watch The Fifth Wave yesterday (the day it released here in North America), unfortunately things got in the way. I hope to watch it soon though! It seems really good!

Am I the only one who thinks this quote basically represents half the characters in books? The right path for them is almost always not easy, lol. But this could just as well represent real life, yes? 🙂

So that’s it for this week’s Spotlight Saturday! My week hasn’t been that interesting, but oh well. What to do? This was still a lot of fun to do and write though—don’t forget to check out some of the spotlight bloggers and blog posts! I’m sure you won’t regret it. ❤ How have your lives been? Are any of you as bombarded with work as me? Let me know whatever thoughts you may have below. LET US TALK!

I kind of (not-so-accidentally) splurged on buying books… | Spotlight Saturday #2 (December 26th–well, 27th)

Hello bookworms! Today I’m back with a Spotlight Saturday post, a meme hosted and created by the wonderful Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner. It’s kind of been a while since my first time doing this meme, but since I had so much fun with it last time and have some time on my hands before I leave for Boston, I decided to participate again this week. 🙂
SBlog Post

Unfortunately I haven’t been as active in the blogosphere this week and am unable to come up with one for this! (SO MANY BLOGS, SO LITTLE TIME.) I know there are plentiful blog posts out there that are amazing, and I’m so sorry that I’ve been missing out on them. :/

SBook

My spotlighted book this week is The Rose Society by Marie Lu! I recently got a copy of it, and so far I’m loving it!

The Rose Society

SMoment

So yesterday was Boxing Day. I’m not sure if this is something that every country has, or if this is something we have only in Canada, but basically every store put their products on sale..! I went with a couple of my friends to go shopping and, of course, I went crazy in the bookstore. I will be sharing my book haul soon, (hopefully) don’t worry. Some are recent releases, others not-so-recent. But they all seem amazing, so yay for tasty books! (But nay for my wallet…) I should probably get my book buying under control, but… booooooks! ❤ And sales. Sounds good to me!

Other than books, I also went all out on Bath and Body Works products. Seriously, the sales there were amazing!! I got a lot of new perfumes, lotions, some hand sanitizers (they are honestly so adorable), and some soap too. Most of you are probably not that interested in this kind of stuff, but the girly girl in me (who loves scented stuff) is kind of obsessed… LOL. Just kidding. Mostly. It’s a healthy obsession…!

It was kind of a busy day, but it was lots of fun—and hey, I got books and Bath & Body Works. I was happy!

SApp

Huh, apps…. Oh! Yes, I have a pick this time. I’ve recently been using the Reminders and Calendar apps a lot more—it really helps to keep things organized and planning things out, making lists, etc. Especially since I’ve been trying to schedule my day out a bit more, making sure I don’t miss anything I have to do, etc.

♪Hello from the other side…♪

Can you guess what song I’m spotlighting this week? Hello by Adele has been stuck in my head lately—when my head isn’t filled with Christmas songs, hehe.

You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.

I’m not quite sure where this quote came from or who made it, but I love it all the same! It simply is such a great reminder of how dwelling on things that happened in the past won’t get you anywhere; it will simply hold you back.

So that’s it for this week’s Spotlight Saturday—even if it’s Sunday today. 😉 I’m going to be leaving for Boston soon, but luckily I had the chance to write this up! It was a lot of fun, I missed doing this! It was a good way to sum up my week too.

Tell me how your week has been! Also, do you have Boxing Day wherever you live in? I’d love to know, in the comments! ❤

Spotlight Saturday #1 (September 26th)

Hello everyone! Today I’m joining in on a meme created by a very lovely blogger and friend of mine, Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner! She is absolutely wonderful, and her blog is absolutely fantastic—if you have not followed her blog yet, do so right away! ❤

I can’t say whether I will always be doing this meme, but I’ve decided to do it this week, since it kind of changes things up, and it seemed like such a fun post to do. 🙂 Let’s get on with it!

The official blurb of this meme:

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

Being a blogger comes with many perks, the best of them being I make new friends! And I only wish I could spotlight all of you fantastic people I’ve had the pleasure of talking to, because you all deserve it! But alas, I cannot.

So I have decided to spotlight Josie herself! If you follow her blog, you know how much of an awesome person she is. She inspires me so much! She never stops amazing me, with her posts, her genuine personality, and her super cute designs. Not only that, Josie is always so supportive! I can always count on her to make my day. I can also trust her instinct on things since we’re so similar, bookish and otherwise! ❤ Josie, you rock! My blogging experience and the blogging world would not be the same without you.

SBlog Post

Blogging has become a huge part of my life—affecting my reading habits too! That’s why I loved Aentee’s discussion post sharing the ways blogging has changed her reading, since I could relate to a lot of them. I urge you to go check it out right away. She mentions so many awesome points; like how blogging has made her more critical of books, and it has gotten her to read a lot more ‘current’ books. Love it!!

SBook

Reawakened

I’m going to be spotlighting Reawakened by Colleen Houck—Since I’ve finally gotten around to reading it! *Victory dance* It’s kind of taking a while for the story to actually get going, but it’s all right so far. Looking forward to seeing how things go further into the novel!

SMoment

My spotlighted moment definitely goes to watching The Scorch Trials with my friends!! I watched it on the 22nd, which was a Tuesday. I wish I could’ve went on a Friday or something, but I was busy and the tickets are half-price on Tuesday. Anyway, I definitely did not regret the money I spent, because the movie was awesome! It hardly followed the book, but since it’s been a while since I’ve read the book anyway, this didn’t bother me. There were so many cool effects, and so many chilling moments. There were of course some things which I wasn’t a big fan of, but overall, I really loved watching the movie. It was awesome! My friends and I had a great time.

Check out the two trailers below!

SApp

This might seem funny, but I’m going with the Clock app on my iPhone. With school ongoing and me having to now wake up at a set time, it’s one of my most used apps right now! I often set several alarms to make sure I don’t oversleep. Especially since I try to get up earlier so I can get in some blogging before I have to leave for school. Right now, this app is one of my best friends to make sure I’m not going to miss the bus!

SSong

I’m kind of just listening to all sorts of songs lately; to be honest there isn’t just one that is sticking out to me right now! So I’ll go with the song I just listened to: On My Mind by Ellie Goulding! It’s being released as part of her brand new album Delirium, and the video was released just 5 days ago. The video I found to be kind of odd, but the song is pretty good!

SQuote

“Often, when I am able to check out a book, I read it a dozen times before returning it, desperate to remain lost in the magic of someone else’s story.”

This quote is from The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel, which I recently finished. The book was really good! It didn’t take me long to finish it, and it had me interested whenever I picked it up. And I really liked this quote, which is why I’m spotlighting it! Even though it doesn’t specifically apply to me, I definitely understand the want and need of being immersed into another world, someone else’s life.

Check out the trailer of the book below!

Anyway, that’s it for my first Spotlight Saturday post! It was lots of fun to do, I just might do it next week as well. 🙂 So tell me, how has your week gone by? What do you think of this week’s spotlights? Would you like to see more of these posts? Let me know in the comments below!

Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!
