Fangirling with Book Aesthetics! // I do a tag for the first time in forever ft. PRETTY PICTURES

I AM ADDICTED TO MAKING AESTHETICS.

Seriously, it’s the best thing ever! Pff no it won’t take away all of your time hahahah what are you talking about.

I was inspired by Michelle’s BEAUTIFUL book aesthetics and her super helpful tutorial and decided to finally try to make some myself!! Hence accidentally taking part in the book aesthetics tag also created by Michelle* because WHY NOT. I was already making too many aesthetics anyway. xD

*I wasn’t tagged in this but hahaha why not do a tag I wasn’t tagged in over the millions** I was tagged in??

**Hahahah people don’t love me that much. Also that would be SCARY like I would be drowning in tags?? I mean, it still feels like I am, but still. MILLIONS. Okay I’m going to stop now let’s look at the aesthetics.

Favourite book of the year

A Conjuring of Light, or basically the whole Shades of Magic series??! I reread the first two books to prepare for the fabulousness that is ACOL. THE BOOKS ARE AMAZING. If you haven’t read them yet, seriously, you must!!

V.E. Schwab’s writing is incredible, her world-building is amazing, and you WILL fall for her characters and have your heart stomped on. But it’s worth it.

ALSO. ICYMI, She’s writing more books set in the world???! *muffled shrieking and excited dancing* (But I don’t/can’t dance. So. You see what a monumental occasion this is.) The series is called Threads of Power and GUYS. I’m dying of excitement!!

Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab

I tried to incorporate as many elements I could?? I dedicated the first three rows to Kell, Rhy and Lila, respectively and kind of just improv’d the last 2 haha. But I think it turned out okay???

Again: READ THIS. Now. (You get sweets if you do/did!!)

OH and I also need to mention The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, because that was 100% one of my top reads this year as well! I just struggled to make an aesthetic for it that followed a good color scheme? BUT I LOVED IT TOO.

Character you relate to a lot & a character you look up to

So, these are actually two different categories, but I had to merge these two because I just COULDN’T choose between my two characters for the individual categories. Because they’re both!!

Starting off with: my older sister Hermioneeeeeee!! She is just such a wonderful role model and I’ve totally looked up to her ever since I discovered the Harry Potter books. She’s so brave, and holds her intelligence like a sword and just #yasss

Also SHE’S A BOOKWORM. Who sometimes prefers books over people. IS SHE NOT ME???!

Behold the aesthetic:

Can I just say Hermione’s aesthetic makes me feel SO WARM AND COZY and ahhhh I’m kind of in love with it?? Does it not just make you want to curl up with a book and a blanket???

And because aesthetics are life and also I’m an indecisive melon: NINA ZENIK!

Because she’s FABULOUS in a way I can’t even begin to explain??!

I simultaneously relate to her so, so much (waffles, anyone?) and also look up to her SO MUCH. She’s selfless, she’s brave, she’s confident, she’s caring and witty and literally everything. (!!!) You can’t NOT love Nina. You just can’t. (I will fight you on this.)

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS AESTHETIC. Mostly because of the waffles. BECAUSE WAFFLES. But also I think/hope this really represents Nina?? I HOPE. Because I looove her.

Have you read the Six of Crows (by Leigh Bardugo) books??? OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE. *gives you side-eye*

Seriously, these books, no matter what genre you’re into, are 100% worth it. (Unless you’re against fantasy or heist plots??? Actually, never mind, even then because it is amazinggg.)

I ADORE THESE BOOKS SO MUCH. PLEASE READ THEM.

*tries to compose self*

I may be a tad excited over these books because as I’m writing this post I had finished rereading Crooked Kingdom (for the second time this year what is wrong with me) and I am just OVERWHELMED WITH FEELINGS (!!!!)

MOVING ON before everyone runs away from me….

An underrated gem

This one was actually kind of hard to think of because so many books I enjoy are pretty popular? That being said, Tiny Pretty Things was pretty hyped up once upon a time buuuut I feel like there aren’t as many people aware of this novel.

Mini list about this book:

  • Lots of diversity!! Two WOC leads, a gay character (albeit a minor character)
  • Includes a MC suffering from an eating disorder (tw!!)
  • MUCH VICIOUSNESS
  • Lots of ballet!!
  • MUCH VICIOUSNESS
  • And girl hate
  • SO MUCH girl hate
  • And people being vicious
  • And petty and mean and cruel
  • But it was super interesting??!
  • And the characters were so fleshed out ahhh.
  • Even though 2/3 of the leads were kind of awful, I felt SO BAD. GAH.

Literally this book is going against all the things I want in a book (like girl hate??) barring the diversity part and ballet BUT I still really liked it??? It was super addicting.

AND THE AESTHETIC! I hate how blurred out some of the images look but I do like the look of the aesthetic overall!

Hahaha I made this book look all about ballet and this hardly shows all the viciousness?? #oops IT WAS VICIOUS GUYS. New level of savagery. But I couldn’t remember details of the viciousness so :)) Ballet it is!

A character that deserves more love

Because my brain is BLANK and I’m going with the first name that I thought of: Lara Jean Song from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han!!

WHY DO PEOPLE DISLIKE HER SO MUCH, is my question.

I mean, fine, yes, people complain of her being immature or childish, but I really don’t think Lara Jean is all that bad??? She can make questionable decisions and naive at times, but that’s being human! I honestly think people are wayyy too hard on Lara Jean!

(Also… I MEAN SHE’S A BAKER. You gotta love her. *mouth waters thinking of all the sweets*)

I want those macaroons and thingies-on-the-stick-I-forget-what-they’re-called (cake pops??) SO MUCH right now. Gah.

I was thinking more of a baby pink aesthetic for Lara Jean?? But I had all of these beaaaaauuuutiful pastel blue images saved on Pinterest and they just WORK. But I’m very tempted to make a pink one??? Somebody stop me.

*scrambles off to Pinterest for another hour*

Darnit.

An underrated OTP

Everyone talks about Cress and Thorne, or Kai and Cinder, and even Scarlet and Wolf (love them all, of course) but I hardly see anyone talk about Winter and Jacin from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer??! I love them SO MUCH. ❤

If you haven’t already read the books, you must go do that!! Winter and Jacin are so sweet and cute and I love them together ahhhh.

AREN’T AESTHETICS GREAT.

Ahem. I won’t be tagging anyone buuuut if you want to do this tag, go for it! Just don’t forget to check out Michelle’s post for all the rules and credit her for the tag. 🙂 If you do the tag, link back here as well so I can FAWN OVER AESTHETICS. 😍

SO. Have you read these books?? What’s your favourite aesthetic out of these? Do you like waffles??? (Yes, yes you do.) Are the stick-thingies in the aesthetic for Lara Jean called cake pops?? What’s an amazing or underrated book or OTP you need to shriek about? (Or shriek about anything, tbh, I’m all ears.)

Books I’ve loved this year and other things I liked! // Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag 2.0 – 2017 Edition

Thought of the day: We’re halfway through the year, HOW???

I can’t be the only one who thinks someone fast-forwarded through this year? If someone did can I ask them to fast forward to future book release days thanks.

Sooooo we’re now at the end of June, halfway through the year, and I thought it would be fitting to do the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag! I did one for last year I think? I wasn’t tagged by anyone this time but psh, rebel here.

Oh and I’m also going to be linking up with this week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt for “Best Books You’ve Read in 2017 So Far”!

LET’S DO THIS.Read More »

Beauty and the Beast Book Tag // Only a few more days!! Shh, I’m not obsessed.

Another Beauty and the Beast-themed post? Why, yes, yes it is. Hush, no, I’m not obsessed with Beauty and the Beast…! But seriously, I haven’t done a book tag in SUCH a long time and this one is perfectly-themed. ❤ I was tagged by Emily @ Embuhleeliest–thank you so much! (My current obsession with Beauty and the Beast is being satisfied with this tag, pretty much so I AM GRATEFUL.)

Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you.
  • Mention the creator; Kirsty at Kirsty and the Cat Read.
  • Match a book to each of the songs/characters below.
  • Tag as many people as you like.

“Tale As Old As Time” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading

Does the sassy/sarcastic/witty character count as a trope?? I say it does. It’s very common, I think? I will never get bored of reading it though?! Looking back on my reads, so many of my favourite books have at least one, if not more, witty character and I LOVE THEM. They just bring so much light and just always bring a smile to my face. I just get all the banter via them and it’s so amazing, especially if you love the characters. Some of my favourite books with this trope:

Oh my preciouussssss children; Will, Kaz, Nina, Wylan, Jesper & Co, Blue & the Raven Boys (!!!!!!!!!!!)

I can’t seem to think of any contemporary novels right off the bat, which is a problem… #moresassycharactersplz

Belle – A book you brought for its beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

JUST LOOK AT IT. It’s so beautiful it makes me want to cryyyyy. ❤ ❤ It seems to be a hit-or-miss among readers, but for me it was definitely a hit! I didn’t fall in love with it as much as others, granted, however I did love the beautiful writing and other aspects of it, which is great because THAT COVER. If I didn’t love the story it would be such a shame haha. (Am I the only one who kind of adored Kamala more than the main character though…)

Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you

Starflight by Melissa Landers

Prior to picking up this book, I had read the author’s previous book, Alienated, which I was not the biggest fan of, so I’ll admit, I didn’t have high hopes for this one? I really shouldn’t judge on past experiences? But, I was wary anyway. Fortunately it seems like I had nothing to be wary of, because I ended up loving this book! I fell in love with the characters the plot was exciting, and it was just a really great experience. I need to read Starfall now though, asap!

Gaston – A book everyone loves that you don’t

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

I wouldn’t say everyone loves this?? Because I do know a fair amount of people who were disappointed/didn’t enjoy this book. However, I think this series in general has a relatively large fanbase and many people did love this one (which is awesome!! GO ENJOY BOOKS, children) but, unfortunately, I just couldn’t help but be disappointed. Mare was so annoying, and there were just many things that didn’t click for me (that I can’t remember specifically because #terriblememory here whoops). I’m holding out hope for King’s Cage though? PRAY FOR ME.

Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart

Sevro from Red Rising series by Pierce Brown

This one was SO hard because generally, I love the sidekick less or equally as much as the main character? But guys, SEVRO. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Darrow, but SEVRO IS AMAZING. I loved him so so so much, and as much as I was concerned with everyone’s fate, his was one that I especially looked out for because guys, he is so great. So loyal, so brave, so fierce, witty and aghhhh. He deserves all the love!! ❤

Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumière & Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable

A List of Cages by Robin Roe

This book didn’t exactly help me through a difficult time, but it did teach me something so valuable, and SO IMPORTANT. Julian’s story was so heartbreaking, but showed the value of kindness, of friendship, of love, and the profound impact a person can have on others–see?? SO VALUABLE ahhhhh I loved it so much. ❤ ❤

“Something There” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

I haven’t yet read the fifth book, but I really enjoyed Frozen Tides. I got onto a rough start with the first book, mostly due to the characters, and the very cliché plot. Although the clichés didn’t necessarily diminish as the books went on, I did get more drawn to the characters and the action kept me invested, so that’s a plus! I’m looking forward to reading Crystal Storm, though at the moment it’s not exactly a priority… #strugglesoftoomanybooks

“Be Our Guest” – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner

Kell and Rhy from Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Did you really think I’d get through this post without mentioning them?? Haha. Nope. But seriously, having these two over for dinner would be so amazing?? Rhy’s sense of humor and charisma is SO GREAT (*cry as I am reminded he is not real*) and KELLLL. ❤ ❤ Why aren’t they reallllllll. *cries some more*

That’s it for this post!! Join me in my B&B-obsessed party (or perhaps not because it is very difficult to escape once you have–I’m warning you!) and let me know your thoughts! What book is your Belle/Beast/Gaston/Lefou/etc? Who would you invite to dinner? (Or you could join me and Kell & Rhy, of course. :P) Happy Tuesday!

EDIT: I didn’t tag anyone for this, but if you want to do this tag, GO FOR IT. I take back any of my warnings, come join me in my B&B party and link back to this post if you do the tag. And if you have done it already, be sure to send me the link down below so I can come check it out. 🙂

The Blog Most Likely To… | TAG

Hey everyone! I haven’t done a tag in a while, so I thought I might as well do this one–in which I was tagged in by Summer @ XingSings. Thanks so much, Summer! This tag is one I had meant to do for a while now actually, but I never got around to it. It was created back when it was the release of Huntley Fitzpatrick’s novel The Boy Most Likely To (which I have yet to read, admittedly–I will, one day, promise!) and was really popular for a while! Now it’s just drifting around, I think. XD Basically we just share our own blogger superlative, and some other stuff (I think?), and invite others to do the same (as per usual in a book tag).

The Blog Most Likely To

Alright, so are you ready for this? It was actually kind of hard to come up with only one, but finally I have reached one! And naturally, I cheated a bit and meshed two into one. Okay, here it is:

The Blog Most Likely To… Be Behind On Literally All The Reviews (And spend time squealing about books and chocolate instead)

Allow me to explain. (Yes, I realize you guys are all smart little minions but I am smarter* so hushhh)

If you’ve been around for a while, or even a bit, you know this is (unfortunately?) 110% true. As much as I would love for all of you lovely people to deny it, you just can’t. XD It’s totally not intentional, I swear it! But I just can’t keep up with writing reviews. Once I started slipping, it just kind of snowballed and now I can’t get out of it, aghhhhh. I literally have books I read over a year ago, like in May 2015, that I still haven’t reviewed, despite making a draft, telling myself I’d write up a review, etc. etc. I don’t know. LE SIGH. Around 98% of the time, I’m eating chocolate and read a new book rather than writing a review for the book I recently read.. which is really a bad habit of mine. I really enjoy writing reviews, I do! It’s so much fun expressing my thoughts on a book, especially if it’s one I loved.. or hated. 😉 But despite that, I seem to always never get them written?

*Hey, I like to dream, alright? No raining on my parade here.

Why do I procrastinate so much?

(I mean, eating chocolate instead is time very well spent, in my book, but others may not see it that way. :P)

  • I love reviewing, but reading often becomes first for me. There are so many books to be read, I just want to keep picking up another book once I finish one! And once that happens, I get caught up in another book, and then another, and then another, and then.. I find that instead of one review to write, I have, like 5. And then 10. And then.. yeah, you know what I mean. 😀
  • I don’t always like to write reviews right after finishing a book, because I feel like at that time, I’m most likely still reeling from the ending and everything, so it wouldn’t be a very helpful or 100% accurate review because I’d most likely either hype it up way more than I actually mean to, or, the opposite. So. I like to wait a bit more, to clear my head.. except then I kind of don’t get around to writing the review at all, because of what happens in the above. *SIGH* I am terrible, guys.
  • Squealing about books and chocolate is so much more appealing sometimes? I like my books, and I like my chocolate too much, guys. #sorrynotsorry

I think I’m supposed to offer examples as well? But I can’t exactly do that, so… I’ll skip to the tagging!

This post is turning out to be very short! But this tag was a lot of fun to do–it was interesting to come up with the superlative, at least.

As usual, no pressure if you don’t want to do this tag! And if you want to do it, but your name isn’t on here, don’t feel shy to go right ahead and do it! Let me know in the comments if you’d like to do it–and if you do it, please link back to this post so I can come check it out! ❤

Alright, so I think that’s it for this tag! What do you think? Do you agree with the superlative I chose for myself? (I won’t be too offended if you do. :P) Do you think I deserve another superlative instead? What do you think your own superlative would be? Let me know all and any thoughts in the comments! ❤
I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

The Book Courtship Tag | Where no one is surprised when I fangirl over books. (Again.)

Hello bookworms! How’s your Monday morning so far? I was almost not going to post today but then I discovered this tag sitting in my drafts, and it seemed interesting so I thought I might as well do it. Plus I found that I already had more than half of it done, sooo #convenient. Not to mention it seems like a lot of fun! Okay, okay, let me just get onto the details of the tag before I continue making excuses nobody is believing.

This was something I was tagged in 2015, I think? By Erika @ Erika in Bookventureland and Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner, and more recently, Summer @ Xingsings. Thank you so much! I’ve known these bloggers for a long time now, and I mean it with all my heart when I say I love them and their blogs! Which basically you must go and check them out if you haven’t already!! ❤

The Book Courtship Tag

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?

Erm, every book on my shelf right now?? Lol, just kidding, but probably most.. #noshame But if I were to choose just one, well, obviously my go-to answer for this would be A Thousand Pieces of You (omgggg that cover is SO GORGEOUS. Love at first sight, people!) but in an effort to be creative (ha. Me, creative? Eh, I guess I could try.) I’ve went with a different book:

First and Then

I couldn’t resist, okay? I mean, just look at that cover. IT’S SO PRETTY. I had to! ❤ Though after reading a few reviews on it, I dunno when I’m going to read it… not sure if it’s going to be something I’ll love, you know? But it looks damn good on my shelves! Lol.

Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you bought because of the summary?

I like to think most books I buy are based at least on the summary, so there are several I could choose for this, I think. But I’m going to go with:

Snow Like Ashes

When I read the summary of this book, I knew I had to read it! And thankfully, it paid off because I loved this book. 😉 I have a review on it if you want to check it out!

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?

Ooh, there’s actually a lot I could choose for this one?? Either I’m really easy to please in the writing department or I’ve been reading really well-written books, I don’t know. But it was quite easy when this book popped into my head:

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids

This book seriously has such BEAUTIFUL writing. omg. I only wish I was able to write like this?? Because it was just so lovely. Go read it if you want proof! Or check out some of its quotes, I swear they’re amazing.

Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?

Ooh, there’s been quite a few good first books I’ve read! It’s hard to choose just one (duh, as it always is) but I’m going to go with Shatter Me:

Shatter Me

Once I finished this book I just had to read the next one!! (And for the record, I’m totally glad I did, because the series just got better. YAY!)

Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?

Ehh, sooo all the books I’ve loved?? Only half-joking. A lot of the books I’ve loved usually ended up being books I couldn’t put down, you know? And who needs sleep, anyway? But I’m going to go with one of them that popped into my head:

Truthwitch

This book was so addicting! I just flew through it, and it definitely kept me up way past my bedtime, oops. Then again, my bedtime is hardly set these days, soo. Point is, I stayed up really late for this one! #noregrets

Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?

Omg this book!! I love it so much. You guys saw this coming, didn’t you?? 😀

The Wrath and the Dawn

After reading this I couldn’t stop thinking about it! I am positively dying for the next book, oh my god. ❤ ❤

Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?

Okay, so although I wasn’t a huge fan of the actual story, I loved the feel of this book:

Reawakened

I have the hardcover of it, and it feels amazing! Only wish the story was just as good… :/

Phase 8 – Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?

Oh! (Aside form Harry Potter, of course), definitely this book:

A Monster Calls

This book is SO AMAZING—Go read it asap if you haven’t already!! Such a powerful and heart-wrenching read. (On a completely unrelated note; I’m so excited for the movie!)

Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re-read many times in the future?

HARRY POTTER. My childhood. My love. My bookish comfort. That is all.

Harry Potter series

BUT if I was to give another shot at being creative (even though it’s not even creative, really), I’d go with The Infernal Devices because THE FEELS. Will never get old!

TID trilogy

Phase 10 – Share the love: Who do you tag?

Not sure who did this and who didn’t, so I’m going to tag a few people—feel free to ignore it if you don’t want to do it or if you already have. And if you haven’t done this, but want to, just let me know! I’d love to tag you and add you to the list. It would be great to see everyone’s answers. 😉

So that’s it for the Book Courtship tag! This was lots of fun; again, I urge you to do this if you’re interested! Just link back to this post so I can come check it out (and fangirl along with you, of course). XD And if you don’t want to do it, that’s perfectly fine, just ignore it or just let me know. This was such a refreshing and fun tag! But unfortunately this is the end of this post. ❤ Hope you all are enjoying your Monday! Happy reading!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

The Valentine’s Day Posts Continue…! | R.I.P It or Ship It Book Tag

A book tag where I get the opportunity to ship characters with characters from other books?!! YES PLEASE.

Hello, and welcome to another Valentine’s Day-ish post—the R.I.P. It or Ship It tag!! This technically can be done at any time of the year, but I thought around Valentine’s Day was a fitting time, don’t you think?

So basically what we have to do is write down an even number of characters from books you’ve read on little slips of paper, fold them, mix them together, then pick up two names (without looking, of course!) and choose whether you ship it or rip it. I don’t think there’s any specific limit or a specific number as to how much you’re supposed to do, so yay! Freedom, lol.

This is going to be pretty hard, seeing how I LOVE MY SHIPS TO DEATH, but I shall give it my best. Yes. Because I’m brave like that. THIS IS HARD, people. And I’m saying this even though I didn’t start the tag yet. OKAY. Let’s do this. *Deep breath*

The Rip it or Ship It Book Tag

So, I wrote down names from a variety of books—better get comfy because I kind of went overboard with the number of them?? But who cares, it was too hard to resist once I got started, haha. (I believe the books/series I used are: Harry Potter, The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, Penryn & the End of Days, The Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass, The Selection, Red Queen, Shatter Me, Six of Crows, and Percy Jackson. Yes, I realize that’s an insufferable amount of books, but they’re awesome, so it doesn’t matter.) On to the rounds!

Round 1 – Jem (The Infernal Devices) + Bella (Twilight) 💔

OH MY GOD RIP RIP RIP!!! NO. I refuse to even think about the possibility of this, because this is just NO. Gah. I’m sorry, but sweet, precious and loving Jem deserves more than someone like Bella. No offence, or anything, but I love Jem and I cannot accept this ship. I refuse. RIP!

Round 2 – Raffe (Penryn & the End of Days) + Inej (Six of Crows) ❤

AGH this one is hard!! The fangirl inside of me is insistent on keeping Raffe with his ship (yess Penryn) and Inej with hers (omg Kaz yes)… but I have to admit this wouldn’t be so much of a terrible of a pairing! Inej is kind of like Penryn; they’re both really strong characters, you know? And both Raffe and Kaz have that bad boy quality to them… so I guess I’m going to say a tentative ship for this one?

Round 3 – Dorian (Throne of Glass) + Katniss (The Hunger Games) ❤

Omg Dorian!! My heart breaks for him, really. He was one of the first love interests I fell in love with while reading ToG, and I can’t really forget him! And Katniss, well, she’s Katniss. Although, again, I get the urge to rip this (I’m really biased, okay?) I’m going to put that aside and say ship, because I actually can kind of see this happening? Dorian has a fire in him, but he’s also such a sweet person, and I think that would go well with Katniss. SHIP.

Round 4 – Isabelle (The Mortal Instruments) + Jace (The Mortal Instruments) 💔

Omg nooooooo. What a coincidence it’s this pairing that came up though, LOL. But nope nope nope, this is an absolute RIP!! Aside from the actual ship (which is fabulous) Isabelle and Jace are like, no, pretty much siblings in every way that matters, so RIP.

Round 5 – Aspen (The Selection) + Will (The Infernal Devices) 💔

THESE PAIRINGS THOUGH. XD But seriously, nope!! I don’t see this.. maybe I’m just biased because Aspen was more of a ‘meh’ character to me than anything else and I LOVE WILL (not to mention Wessa!!) but this just doesn’t work. RIP.

Round 6 – Valentine (The Mortal Instruments) + Cress (The Lunar Chronicles) 💔

Okay, okay, I promise I won’t rip ALL of the pairings, but.. nooooope. Ripping this one for sure! Valentine, is like, twice the age (or even more) of Cress. SO EW. Also he’s evil, and.. Cress isn’t. She’s the opposite, really. More of a damsel than anything else, and definitely doesn’t deserve someone like Valentine! RIP.

Round 7 – Mare (Red Queen) + Juliette (Shatter Me) ❤

YES, FINALLY! A pairing that I actually.. kind of ship?! I mean, Mare and Juliette can both most definitely kickbutt, and I think their personalities would compliment eachother very nicely. 😀 So, SHIP! (But of course, Juliette and Warner is absolute perfection.)

Round 8 – Kai (The Lunar Chronicles) + Levana (The Lunar Chronicles) 💔

Another same-book pairing? And… THIS one, out of all things?! *Dies on floor laughing* If you guys have read the books, you know why I say RIP RIP RIP for this one! lol.

Round 9 – Hermione (Harry Potter) + Magnus Bane (TID/TMI) 💔

HA. I was kind of tempted to ship this one for a second—just because this would be such a hilarious and ridiculous pairing!! Okay, maybe in some alternate world this would work, but… I just don’t see this one? XD Maybe on Magnus’s side there might be some spark of interest, but nothing more than that, in my opinion. But it’s undeniable that this would be hilarious! But, RIP.

Round 10 – Celaena (Throne of Glass) + Cal (Red Queen) ❤

LOL I doubt Celaena needs ANOTHER excuse for an extra love interest (trust me, she has or has had plenty of those) but I think I’m going to ship this pairing! Celaena is kind of similar to Mare (who Cal’s attracted to), and Cal in turn seems like someone who Celaena would be interested in. Is it just me that thinks Cal is kind of like Chaol? Kind of, at least, you know? But, yes. Celaena and Cal wouldn’t be too bad! SHIP.

Round 11 – Thorne (The Lunar Chronicles) + Kaz (Six of Crows) ❤

Yay, another ship! This pairing actually works, in my opinion. Both of these characters have a sort of roguish charm to them and I feel as if they’d go perfectly together. (But the original pairings are totally OTP.) SHIP!

Round 12 – America (The Selection) + Tessa (The Infernal Devices) 💔

Wait a minute… wasn’t there an earlier pairing of Aspen and Will..? Aspen… America… Will… Tessa. Whoaaaa coincidence, much? But, like the earlier one, I’m going to have to rip this one too. I didn’t absolutely detest America, but NOPE I would definitely not put her with anyone deliberately, especially not Tessa! Nope, RIP.

Round 13 – Kenji (Shatter Me) + Wolf (The Lunar Chronicles) 💔

As much I’d love to support this pairing… I just can’t. Nope. Their characters are just too different and I just don’t think it work, you know? I know there’s the whole opposites attract thing, but seriously, I don’t think this is one of those cases. RIP.

Round 14 – Simon (The Mortal Instruments) + Edward (Twilight) ❤

LOLOLOLOL This would be the best comedy show everrrrrr. Omg this isn’t even a real ship, and I don’t actually ship this, but this is just too funny to rip. XD Sooo.. fake ship, I guess? (Even though technically these are basically all fake, lol.)

Round 15 – President Snow (The Hunger Games) + Harry Potter (Harry Potter) 💔

HA NOPE. Aside from the fact that President Snow is, like, the age of a grandfather (or a great-grandfather) and Harry is… well, waaaaaay younger (omg I kind of just died of disgust there…) this just won’t work! LOL. RIP.

Round 16 – Penryn (Penryn & the End of Days) + Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) ❤

I can actually see this one happening!! Penryn and Cinder are both very determined, and strong characters and I think this would totally be an awesome pair. Just think about all the awesome things they could accomplish and all the people they’d be able to take down! 😉 YES. I ship this!

Round 17 – Nina (Six of Crows) + Maven (Red Queen) 💔

I swear, most of my reactions to these involve be dying on the floor laughing because… #LOL. Can you see this happening?? ‘Cause I certainly can’t… for a few obvious reasons—which I of course can’t name because of spoilers! But lol this is definitely RIP! (Also I love Nina and Matthias…!!)

Round 18 – Winter (The Lunar Chronicles) + Warner (Shatter Me) 💔

Agh, I seriously feel like I’m ripping basically all of these.. but I’m not trying to! These pairings are just not compatible.. not my fault! But NOPE I can’t see this. I just feel as though Warner would tire to quickly of Winter’s personality, you know? He’s not patient enough to endure her.. mental issues, persay. RIP. ALSO Juliette + Warner= OTP.

Round 19 – Percy (Percy Jackson) + Annabeth (Percy Jackson) ❤

OMG YES YES YES. (!!!) This is absolutely amazing—and I didn’t do this on purpose either!! Percy and Annabeth are one of my absolute OTPs, why are we even questioning this?! SHIP.

Round 20 – Jacin (The Lunar Chronicles) + Ron (Harry Potter) ❤

Ahahaha this would be the best bromance ever! Ron is a lot more relaxed than Jacin, and I think he’d be able to invoke a lot more humor and fun to Jacin’s character, you know? And Jacin in turn might appreciate it, who knows? SHIP.

Round 21 – Clary (The Mortal Instruments) + Adam (Shatter Me) 💔

Nooooooooo! First of all, ADAM IS A JERK. Second, ADAM IS A JERK. Now multiply that statement by 10. (Yes, he’s that much of a jerk.) Even if Clary isn’t perfect either, she doesn’t deserve someone like Adam! RIP.

Round 22 – Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles) + Voldemort (Harry Potter) 💔

Ahhh yes, totally ending on a good note here, aren’t we? lol. But nope! (I feel like those two words have been the most used in this tag whoops.) This is VOLDEMORT we’re talking about. I’d rather see him dead, thanks, rather than EVER see him with Scarlet! Yeah, nope. RIP.

EDIT, February 14th:

I tag…

I apologize in advance if you’ve already done the tag! If you have, no worries, just let me know or leave the link to it so I can come check it out. XD As usual, no pressure if you want or don’t want to do the tag!

I had so much fun with this tag! (I laughed myself to death for half of these, soo YES FUN.) Unfortunately I’m unable to get myself to actually tag a whole bunch of people, so I mean this 145% when I say that I would love to tag you if you’re interested! I TAG YOU ALL. I’ll even go through the hassle of adding your name to the list. 😛 I just can’t go through the hassle right now, you see. This is such a fun tag that I would not want it to go to waste! So please let me know if you want to do it (YOU TOTALLY SHOULD by the way) because I’d love to see what you end up with!
Alright so.. now’s the time you let me know your thoughts!! Which of these pairings do you RIP and which do you ship? Do you agree or disagree with my choices? Let us discuss!!
Also, happy early Valentine’s Day! (I think I’m just going to repeat that all the way until Valentine’s Day actually comes haha). Happy reading, I hope you all enjoy your Thursday!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

Burn, Rewrite or Reread | BOOK TAG

Hey there! I found this book tag type thing from Victoria @ Addlepates and Book Nerds A LONG time ago, and had it sitting in my drafts for so long..! So I thought I might as well do it—even though I have tons of tags I actually was tagged in to do, because I make perfect sense that way. 😉 (Also, hush, this is not a last-minute post because I forgot to do a review today, whaaaat?) Also, do note; I do realize using the term ‘burn’ in reference to books is quite a crime—I am no book burner! XD Remember not to take it seriously, haha.

What to do:

-Randomly choose 3 books. (I used the ‘Random’ option on my Goodreads read shelf.)

-For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread. (A lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill.)

-Repeat until you completed three rounds (—though I’m doing more because why not?)

Let’s get started!

Round 1

Burn: Matched by Ally Condie. It was kind of a conflicting decision, to put this either in burn or rewrite, because truthfully this book would be completely fine, if it were to be rewritten differently, but in the end, this is going to have to go into the fire! This book really was no fun for me.

Rewrite: Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid. This was not that bad of a novel—I guess there were just too many elements that I wasn’t a fan of. So a rewrite it is!

Reread: Out of these three, hands down, Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi! No competition. I enjoyed it so much more than the other two, and it was such an amazing series ender!

Round 2

Burn: Reawakened by Colleen Houck. Another disappointment! In light of my other choices, this is definitely going to the fire. :/

Rewrite: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked this book, except as a series finale and with my high expectations, this book is in need of a few rewrites, in some parts! But overall I still liked it.

Reread: The Young Elites by Marie Lu. Currently working on a review for it—it’s simply amazing. A definite reread! ❤ If you haven’t read this book or series yet, definitely do so (or if you want, you can wait for the release of the third book to binge-read it.)

Round 3

Burn: Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier. This wasn’t a bad book, really. It just wasn’t the BEST, and out of these three, I’m afraid this one is what I’m gonna have to go with—though this could just as easily fit into ‘rewrite’.

Rewrite: Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. Although I enjoyed this well enough, it would’ve been better if some parts were written differently, in my opinion.

Reread: The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Come on, you all saw this coming, right?? I loved this book and would not mind rereading it at all.. I’m actually considering re-reading it before the release of the second book, but that’s a maybe. 🙂

Round 4

Burn: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. Is it bad that I kind of had no qualms of choosing burn for this one? At least among the other choices. I mean, I don’t know. This just wasn’t something that clicked with me.

Rewrite: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. This wasn’t a BAD book, persay, but it did have its faults! So definitely rewrite.

Reread: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. This was such an entertaining book! I saw some mixed reviews on this before and after reading it, but to me, it was as good as any. Reread for sure!

Round 5

Burn: Bossypants by Tina Fey. Unfortunately I have no qualms about choosing this one for burn either..? Non-fiction/memoirs aren’t exactly my forte…

Rewrite: Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I actually found this to be pretty good (unlike Allegiant…) but it did have a few parts where I wasn’t a big fan.

Reread: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. Gosh, THE FEELS in this one is so intense! I would absolutely love to reread this. *Heart-eyed emoji*

So that’s it for the Burn, Rewrite and Reread tag! To spread some of the fun, I tag:

Of course, like always, if you’ve done this tag or don’t want to do it, feel free to ignore! If you weren’t tagged but you want to do this tag, please go ahead! Let me know and I’ll add you to the list. ❤ As always, comment with your thoughts below!

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend! (Although I don’t blame you if you’re sad it’s over, haha.) Hugs!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

2016 Resolutions | TAG

Hello! (No Adele joke this time, I promise.) I’d usually have a Top Ten Tuesday post up today, but I decided to do the 2016 Resolutions Tag today instead, created by Trisha Ann @ The Bookgasm. I know we’re more than halfway through January 2016, but there’s still plenty of time left for completing resolutions, am I right?! I was tagged by Summer @ Xing Sings; Thanks, girl! I had been meaning to do a post like this earlier this month, but never got around to it—now I have reason to, haha. I know this sounds hella repetetive, but I promise you, Summer’s blog is absolutely lovely. Definitely go and show her some bloggish and bookish love!

The TBR Book Tag

Now, let us get onto the tag of really ambitious resolutions…

BOOKISH RESOLUTIONS

In 2016, I will…

1. Read at least 170 books.

I set my Goodreads goal to 200 this year, which I will admit might’ve been a bit too ambitious and a bit too unreasonable when taken into account the amount of time I’ll actually have to read. So I’ve decided that if I read at least 170 books, I’m satisfied. But of course, I’m still aiming for 200! XD

2. Diversify my reading.

I really want to continue the trend of reading diverse books! I know there are a lot of them that I missed in 2o15 so hopefully 2016 is the year I’ll be able to read more of them.

3. Read the books I said I would read in 2015, but didn’t.

There are a LOT of books I meant to read last year, but didn’t, so I’m hoping to read those books this year! I’ll probably start with the ones on this list. Fingers crossed I’ll actually be able to read them this year!

4. Complete the ten series I want to read in 2016.

If you click on the link, you’ll be led to my TTT list of series I am hoping to read this year. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it to all of them, but I really hope so. They all seem so great!

5. Refrain from buying too many books each month.

I haven’t done many book haul posts for a long time, but let me tell you, I haven’t been holding back from buying books! I have been going waaaay too overboard. I should give mercy to my wallet! Not only am I quickly running out of shelf space, I’m spending way too much money.

6. Organize my Goodreads shelves.

I really want to sort out my TBR into smaller chunks. Make more shelves, categorize the books into priority and not-so-much-of-a-priority, you know? My TBR is absolutely enormous, but it’s all over the place. I’m hoping to change that this year!

7. Find the courage to send emails to publishers for ARCs I REALLY want.

I keep chickening out of sending emails to publishers! I’m hoping this year I might find the courage to do so. I don’t want to go crazy with my requesting, so I’m mostly thinking of requesting ARCs of books I really want. (Some sequels, some stand-alones,etc.)

8. Make a TBR jar…?

As you can probably tell from the question mark, I’m not as sure for this one. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t, you know? But the idea of it is definitely appealing! The TBR jars I’ve seen always look so pretty and it’s a good way to choose what book to read next off my TBR.

9. Visit the library more often (instead of the bookstore!)

Although bookstores are absolutely fabulous and bookworm heaven, I’d really like to visit the library more often as an attempt to lower the amount of money I spend on books. I haven’t been visiting it as often as I would’ve liked to, so hopefully that will change this year!

10. Make sure that at least 25-50% of the books I read this year are books I bought in 2015 or earlier.

I own way too many unread books, so hopefully if I follow this resolution I might be able to cut down on the amount of unread books I own. Fingers crossed!

BOOK BLOGGING RESOLUTIONS

In 2016, I will…

1. Have a wider variety of posts each month.

There are so many post ideas I have, yet I never seem to get around to writing them! I’m hoping to make 2016 the year where I actually get those posts written, whether they’re discussion posts, book reviews, book tags, whatever.

2. Try to post at least 1-2 discussion posts per week.

This one is one of the most ambitious resolutions, I think. Unless I had superpowers like Cait who is able to write tons of amazing discussion posts, that is. But alas, I don’t, so I’m just going to have to go off the fact that if I put in some more effort I might be able to post more discussion posts this year! Nothing wrong with aiming high, right? (That question is going to come back to haunt me, I know it.)

3. Reduce the amount of unpublished drafts I have.

The last time I checked (not that long ago) I had almost over a 100? Some of them date way back to when I first started blogging… Yeah, a clean-up is in order for sure!

4. Catch up on my tags and award nominations!

I appreciate SO MUCH (like, really, you have no idea HOW MUCH I appreciate this) all the nominations and tags bloggers have given me over the course of 2015! I promise I will try my best to get to them all this year. ❤ THANK YOU.

5. Be able to find a consistent balance between blogging and life.

I really want to find a good schedule that works for me! Right now I’m doing okay, but it would be tremendously helpful if I were to find a way to get a good balance between blogging and school. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD THAT IS. But I am trying!

6. (Try to) Reply to comments as soon as possible.

Often times school and life gets in the way in blogging, and I find it difficult to find the time to answer to comments sometimes! Which really sucks because I appreciate your comments so much and I love talking to you, yet I don’t always get to. So, this year, I want to stay on top of the comment game!

7. Become a blog-hopping pro.

Now this one is kind of related to #6. With school and everything, it’s hard to always visit EVERYONE’s blog. I really wish I could visit ALL the blogs, but sadly I just don’t have the time and sometimes I’m just too lazy. Attempting to be a ‘blog-hopping pro’ is quite far-fetched, but I’m hoping to at least be able to visit the most blogs as possible this year.

8. Write book reviews more often.

I’m testing out different methods of reviewing right now, and as I have A HUGE pile of reviews that I want to write, I’m hoping to be able to write book reviews more often! Even 1 per week is better than nothing, right?

9. Be more active on Twitter.

It’s amazing seeing how much social media can impact our lives these days. Twitter seems to be a popular platform to meet and talk to other bloggers, which I’m always happy to do! So hopefully I’ll use it more often in 2016.

10. Schedule more of my posts.

WordPress offers the use of a great tool: scheduling! That way if I have a post ready to go, I can schedule it so that it posts automatically when I want it to. This could prove to be very useful at times when I’m really pressed with work—so I’m hoping to use it more often this year!

CAREER/ACADEMIC RESOLUTIONS

In 2016, I will…

1. Be more attentive in class.

It’s so difficult to stay focused sometimes! GAH, school. Why must it be so boring? Alas, there’s nothing to do about it other than manage to stay on top of it all. 2016: Time to focus!

2. Try to complete all homework assignments as soon as possible.

Although I’m usually pretty good at this, there are times where I end up prioritizing other things than homework, and in 2016 I hope to prevent that by finishing all homework asap!

3. Try my best to do well in school.

It’s my last year of high school, after all, and I don’t want to be slacking! XD I might as well put all efforts in now—it’ll only help me more in the future, right?

4. Keep my notes organized.

I usually do well enough with keeping notes organized, but I want to take it a step further and actually MAKE SURE that my notes are in order and good to use. Because we all know how hard studying without notes can be!

5. Make sure my locker stays organized.

It’s absolutely horrible when lockers are unorganized! Most of the time it’s really hard to find anything, and it’s never a good sight. So this year, I’m definitely going to focus on keeping my locker in a good condition.

PERSONAL RESOLUTIONS

In 2016, I will…

1. Try to be organized in all areas!

Whether it’s school, blogging, or simply just things I need to do, I want to keep organized. I love making lists, so I’ll probably start there. 😉 I know there are many more ways to stay organized though, so I’ll be trying out different methods!

2. Stop devouring all the chocolate I can get my hands on.

If you didn’t know already, I kind of love chocolate..!! And I probably have been eating too much of it lately (IT’S JUST SO GOOD) so hopefully I’ll be better at controlling my chocolate-eating habits. LOL.

3. Get over my fear of dogs.

I’m kind of stretching it here, as I had a fear of dogs for many, many, years now, but baby steps, right? Dogs are absolutely adorable, but I’m always too scared to be around them..!

4. Stop wearing mismatched socks.

I know this is kind of silly, but I have a habit of often wearing mismatched socks—and it’s gotta stop! Hopefully 2016 will be the year it does. 😉

5. Learn to not completely fail at baking.

Me and baking are well-acquainted with eachother…although perhaps not in the good way. Let’s just say I’ve had my fair share of faux pas in the kitchen, okay? There’s tons of delicious-looking recipes I always want to try out, and I really want to do them this year.

Whew, it looks like I have a lot to do this year! I’m kind of curious as to see how it will turn out in the end—will I actually be able to complete these resolutions? It’s doubtful that I’d be able to complete ALL of them, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Now it’s your turn! You tell me: how ambitious are your resolutions for 2016? How ambitious do you think MINE are? Too much? Too little? 😛 Do you even make resolutions, or do you just go with the flow? Let me know whatever thoughts you may have below! (THAT RHYME THOUGH.)

Cheers! Hope you all are enjoying your Tuesday. ❤

Until the Next Meal, Analee

‘Tis the Season | BOOK TAG

Hello my friends! It’s the month of December (obviously) and you all know it’s a month of festivities and of course, holidays and Christmas. So I’m here today with a holiday-themed tag that I’ve been spotting around the blogosphere here and there. I was tagged by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much; thank you so much, lovely! If you’re not already following this wonderful lady, what are you waiting for? (Not my wrath, I hope. I can be very fierce when I want to be. Just kidding! Kind of. :P) But yes, point is, you should go check out Catia’s blog right away, for she is absolutely lovely and her blog is fabulous. Just take my word for it—or even better, find out for yourself!

Alright, so… shall we go on to the tag? Why yes, we shall. 😉

1. Do you have a favorite winter read?

Hmm… I think I’m going to have to go with Catia on this one and choose My True Love Gave To Me by various authors, a collection of short stories which I find to be perfect for this time of year. Which reminds me, better get my review up for that sometime this month! I read it earlier this year, but have been waiting to post the review for the perfect time.

My True Love Gave to Me

2. Find a book with blue on the cover!

Why only oneeeeee?! It was a tough choice—seriously, there are a lot more covers with blue on the cover than I thought there would be—but I finally decided to go with Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s not fully blue, but I felt like it went well with the whole winter season that is linked with the month of December. 😉

Shiver

3. Find a book you’d use as the star on a Christmas tree!

I’m not sure if we’re supposed to have read the book for this question…? But in any case, I’m going with a book on my TBR; The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider! Except for the blue of the title, the cover is a really bright yellow, and even though I don’t know if the story within its pages reflect that, but it seems to me that this is a suitable choice! I actually currently have a copy of this from the library, and I am planning on reading it sometime soon (hopefully).

The Beginning of Everything

4. Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a winter vacation!

I’m trying to be creative and not come up with the answer you guys should all know is coming, but of course I fail; a trip to Hogsmeade would be wonderful for a vacation…and maybe while we’re at it, a trip to Hogwarts! 😛 It sounds like the perfect place to me; Butterbeer and wizard sweets, inns and all sorts of fun. What’s not to like?

Hogsmeade

5. Pick one fictional character you’d take with you on your winter vacation!

I’ve held in my angsty dilemma so far, but…ALL THESE ‘ONE’ QUESTIONS WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME. I swear, I know they will be. You guys all know by now how terrible I am with choosing only one thing as an answer, right? I kind of rant about this for basically any book tag I do because THEY NEVER WANT MORE THAN ONE. Whyyyyyyy. Okay, I’m sorry. I’ve managed to do so so far, so…*Deep breath* I don’t suppose I could bring along my whole list of book boyfriends, now can I? (Although, now that I think of it, I doubt that would go over too well between all the guys…)

Carswell Thorne

Alright, so I’ve decided to go with Captain Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles series! It was hard to choose, I’m telling you, but finally I thought, why not? Captain Thorne ensnared me with his boyish charms and also, he’s a lot of fun to have around! My winter vacation would definitely not be boring, that’s for sure.

6. Name one book on your wish list this year!

Oh god. *Pulls out fancy scroll that goes all the way to the ground* The agony. THE AGONY.

Alright, does… “Nearly every book on my TBR” count as an answer? Because I swear that’s all I have. LOL, okay fine, I’ll be serious. I’m going to go with Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare! It releases sometime this upcoming year—yay!! I know some people are rolling their eyes, like, “Geez, another Shadowhunter-themed book?” but not me! I’d gobble up basically anything Clare writes, and I have no complaints if it has to do with Shadowhunters. 😉

Lady Midnight

7. Favorite holiday drink, treat, & movie?

Ah, the real deal! The most important questions here. Okay, folks. Let’s do this.

Favorite holiday drink: Hot chocolate! Yep, I’m a pair of old and boring socks. But sometimes the traditional way is best, no? Deal with it.

Hot Chocolate + Cream & Marshmellows
Can you blame me from being a fan of hot chocolate when it looks like this?! Mm…

Favorite treat.. hmm… how about, ‘anything with chocolate?’ I’m not even joking right now… Mmm, chocolate. I’m hungry now. I shall make you guys hungry too with the picture below! Mwa-ha-ha. I also really like candy canes. 😉

Chocolate1

And finally, favorite holiday movie… hmm, although there are tons of them out there, I can choose nothing other than of course the classic Home Alone! My only peeve is: Macaulay Culkin, if only you stayed as adorable as you were back then! Ah, some people age worse than others, I guess. :/

8. Who do you tag?

Let us share the holiday spirit! I’m going to tag a bunch of you to start off, but although I’d love to tag you all, I doubt I’d have the space (or time) to do so without us being here for another 20 years! BUT PLEASE. I’d love to add you on if you want to do the tag. Just leave a comment below! ❤ Make sure to link back to this post if you do it so I’m sure not to miss it. On with the tagging!

Hope you guys are all enjoying your month of December so far! Let me know whatever thoughts you may have down below. ❤ I love you guys all so much, see you all again in my next post! Hugs!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

Around the World in YA Book Tag!

Hello everyone! I’m back with another tag today, the Around the World in YA Book Tag, which was created by a fellow blogger, Becca from Becca and Books. I was tagged by Raven @ Dreamy Addictions and although I’m VERY late on this, better late than never, right? Thank you so much, Raven!

Alright, so the rules are simple. List a country, and then show which favourite book of yours is set in that country. You can use the countries I have used, add your own, or use completely different ones! (*I’m also going to be tweaking the rules a bit and use books on my TBR as well, not only books I’ve read*)

Sounds like fun! Let’s see how I do, shall we? 🙂 Covers link to Goodreads!

France

Romancing the Dark in the City of Light

This is a book that’s on my TBR—and no, this time I’m not going with Anna and the French Kiss as per usual. 😉 I feel as if I’ve used that book well more than enough and you’re all probably getting frustrated with me for not having read it yet. LOL. But I digress. I’m going to go with Romancing the Dark in the City of Light, which is set in Paris! It’s on my TBR and I can’t wait to read it.

Germany

The Book Thief

This is a book I haven’t read either, but I definitely plan to! Set in a past era of Germany, The Book of Thief seems to be a common topic of discussion and I want to join in. 😉

England

Clockwork Angel

I was debating to choose between TDI and Harry Potter, and as you can see, The Infernal Devices has won out! I love this series so much. ❤ (Although HP is amazing as well, don’t get me wrong!)

China

Cinder

I’m going to go with the common answer I’ve seen for this; Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I love this book and series so much! The book that started everything, Cinder was an amazing read. And it’s set in a futuristic New Beijing, so it’s a good fit. (*Wink* See what I did there? Cinder—Cinderella… shoe…you figure out the rest.)

India

Tiger's Curse

Although the Tiger’s Curse series isn’t constantly set in India, a lot of it is, and the whole series is based on Indian mythology so I’m counting it for this one!

Russia

Shadow and Bone

Okay, so I’m stretching the rules quite a bit for this one considering how it’s not actually set in true Russia. Shadow and Bone and The Grisha trilogy are set in a Russian-influenced fantasy world, so I guess technically this wouldn’t count as a book set in Russia… but I’m using it anyway! #Ijustwannabreaktherules

Egypt

Ink and Bone

I’m actually following the rules for this one… kind of. I haven’t read this book yet, but I have definitely been planning to for quite some time! (Though you know that if you’ve seen several of my WWW posts lately, lol.) I hope I get to Ink and Bone soon!

Canada

Anne of Green Gables

One of the few novels set in Canada, Anne of Green Gables is my choice for this one! It’s kind of sad and disappointing how few novels are set in Canada. It’s almost always the U.S, or some other foreign country. Oh well. At least there is this classic novel to have Canada remembered in our books! 😉

So those are my choices! Feel free to tell me what you think in the comments! Now, it’s your turn. If you want to do this tag, go for it—I’ll add your name to the post if you tell me below—but I’m going to tag a few people to start off:

I would tag a bunch of other people if I could, but unfortunately I’m running late on time and have to leave or I’ll miss the bus! So please, tell me, if you want to do this tag, or if you don’t want to, no problem! If you’ve already done the tag, I apologize in advance!

Happy tagging! Hugs!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

It’s Halloween! | Trick or Treat Book Tag

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are all enjoying Halloween today! (Can you even believe it’s already the end of October?!) Although many of you may not be trick-or-treating this year, it’s still Halloween and I thought, why not do a book tag in honor of this celebration? I found this book tag on Bea’s blog (When Curiosity Killed the Cat) and thought it was a fitting one to do for today. Credit to Alyssa for the creation of this book tag!

Let’s get on with it!

Kit Kat Bar – An anticipated release

Winter

That shall go to Winter, hands down! I can’t wait to get my hands on this! That reminds me, I should probably get my reviews up on the previous books in the series so I don’t have to rush them when I finish reading this installment of the series.

M&Ms – A book with a colorful cover

I feel like I answer this for literally everything, but I’m going to go with A Thousand Pieces of You. I mean, just LOOK at the cover!

A Thousand Pieces of You

If that isn’t colorful, I don’t know what is. Its sequel’s cover is just as colorful too! This series sure knows how to attract attention.

Milky Way – Name a book that makes you feel all gooey in the middle.

Carry On

Umm… almost every contemporary romance?! Have to say, I’m kind of a sucker for those. But I’m going to go with Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, because although it’s technically a fantasy, that isn’t to say it didn’t have romance—and the romance was perfectly done!

Sugar Babies – An underrated book or character

Although my immediate answer would be Shadow Falls—I’ve used that answer so many times for questions like these that it’s become a natural thought—I’m going to go with a different answer this time and choose the Goddess War series by Kendare Blake. I haven’t heard of this series being talked about much, though it definitely deserves to be! Great for Greek Mythology lovers. 😉

Sour Patch Kids – A book that started off sour and ended up being sweet.

I’m honestly having such a blank space in my head right now. *Cue Blank Space music* I know I answered a question like this before for another tag, but I just can’t remember my answer. Oh well. I think I’m going to go with The Heir by Kiera Cass for this! To be precise it kind of went up and down on the sour-and-sweet scale, but overall it started off kind of iffy but I liked it by the end of it.

The Heir

Hershey Kiss – Your favorite first kiss!

Okay, this is a question where I think I’m going to have to skip. You’d think it was such an easy question, but there are so many first kisses I love, so I honestly can’t choose just one. Nope! You all know how terrible I am with choosing just one.

Favorite book to read during Halloween-time?

Anything creepy! Having read not many Halloween-type books, I can’t exactly say what’s my favorite. Although from the ones I have read I definitely enjoyed Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, The Dead List by Jennifer Armentrout and some other ones. 😉

So that’s it for this Halloween-themed book tag! Tell me; what would you answer for these? I’m not going to be tagging anyone, but if you comment down below that you’re interested, I’ll definitely add your name to the post! What scary books do you recommend? And also; what is your favourite Halloween candy or chocolate? Yes, this is an important question. 🙂

Trick or Treat and Happy Halloween!

Let’s Celebrate Autumn…With a Book Tag! | The Fall-Time Cosy Book Tag

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I last posted—I honestly feel like I haven’t spoken to you all in 3 years—but I’m happy to be back with one of the fall book tags I’ve seen floating around in the blogosphere! As far as I know I haven’t been tagged in this, but I decided to do it anyway since here in Ontario autumn is settling in and it feels like a good time to do it! So, without further ado…the Fall Time Cosy Book Tag!

1. Crunching Leaves: The world is full of colour. Choose a book that has reds, oranges and yellows on the cover.

Illuminae

There were actually a lot more books I thought of for this one, but I’m going to go with Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, which is releasing tomorrow! I haven’t read this one yet, but I can’t wait ’till I do!

2. Cosy Sweater: It’s finally cold enough to don warm cosy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

I know most of you are probably able to predict what my usual answer would be for this, so I’m going to refrain this time from using my usual books for this kind of question, and go with a book (I think) that I haven’t used as much!

The Distance Between Us

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West is super cute, just saying. Totally recommend it!

3. Fall Storm: The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favourite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

Hm, I’m debating over whether I should go with my favourite book or genre… which is easier? I think I’ll go with the latter and say I’d read something fantasy. Or maybe contemporary. I honestly don’t know, because it depends a lot on my mood! But I think either fantasy or contemporary would be my top two contenders. Don’t ask why, it just is. 😉

4. Cool Crisp Air: What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

Ooh, another hard one! But I think it would be incredibly epic if I were to trade places with either Hermione from Harry Potter or Celaena from Throne of Glass—although there are of course so many other characters I’d love to trade places with! I think I’m currently leaning towards mostly Celaena, though of course Hermione is awesome!

5. Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

This is actually such a hard question! I’ve been reading a lot of hyped books as of late, and it’s quite difficult to think of an under-hyped book at the moment. But I’m going to go with the Shadow Falls series and its spinoff, Shadow Falls: After Dark! These books are honestly amazing, and I definitely think they deserve to be much more known than they are now.

6. Coat, Scarves and Mittens: The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

HA! XD This question made me smile. There’s actually not that many books where I have the need to hide in public (or at least not many that I can immediately think of) but I’ve decided to go with White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Reread

There is a new cover of this, but I currently own this cover, and yep, I’d say this is definitely a cover I think I’d cover up a bit more in public…

7. Pumpkin Spice: What’s your favourite fall time comfort food/foods?

Milk Chocolate

Chocolate! Well, chocolate is basically a favourite for all seasons, but yeah. I need my chocolate!! ❤ Hot chocolate is also necessary. 😉

EDIT—I TAG…

So there we have it! I’m feeling very fall-time right now, and in my warm sweaters, very cosy as well—which is why this tag was perfect! I’d love to spread the tag right now, but laziness is winning over and I unfortunately have school work to do, so I’m taking the easy way out—if you like the tag, go for it! I officially tag you. (No joke, I’ll even add your name to the post if you want to do it.) ❤

Happy tagging!

The Desert Island Book Tag!

Hello bookworms! Okay, I know, it hasn’t even been a week since my last tag. I swear, this blog is more than just tag and memes! But this particular tag has been resting in my drafts folder for way too long, and I thought I might as well get this over with. I was tagged by Bhramori @ The Crazy Perfectionist & Ella Iparis @ Senseless Scrutiny to do this tag! Thank you girls, so much! You rock. People, if you haven’t yet followed these two lovely ladies, I urge you to go over to their blogs immediately and show them some love. ❤

Now, let’s get on with the tag!

1) Water: a book you simply cannot live without

Six of Crows

Okay, so this question is totally unfair! You guys all know by now how terrible I am with choosing simply one with these things. 😉 But I’m going to be brave today and go with one of my more recent favorite novels, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo! Ahhh this book was simply amazing and I’m still not over my fangirl moments for this book.

2) Food: a book that is a close second on your favorites list

The Final Empire

Ugh, another hard one! These questions are honestly designed to go against me. It’s so hard to choose an answer for this! I have a lot of favorites; I wish I can choose them all, because they’re all (mostly) equally loved.

But I’m going to go with a book I haven’t used as an answer much; The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. A wonderful fantasy novel, I really loved this book, and it’s definitely is high on my favorites list. The Wrath and the Dawn comes pretty close too! 😉

3) Shelter: a book that makes you feel at home and safe

Fangirl

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is what immediately comes to mind! I loved this book so much, it was such a cute and comforting read that it’s the perfect choice for this.

4) Flare gun: a book that you would recommend to a person who doesn’t read

Everything, Everything

I think Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon would be a good fit for this! It has beautifully simple (and creative) writing and a really cute story that I think a non-reader would be able to appreciate!

5) Fire-matches: book that warms your heart

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda_bookcover

I doubt any of you are surprised with this choice! Or at least I hope. Because ever since I read this book, I think I was pretty clear on how much I loved it. This book is simply so heart-warming! ❤ I have a review on it if any of you want to check it out, by the way. 😉

6) Compass: book that directed you towards your love for reading

Harry Potter series

I’m going to go with the common answer of Harry Potter for this one, but really, there is no specific book that I can name for this! I’ve loved reading ever since I was a wee-little child, and that’s basically it. But Harry Potter definitely nurtured this love of books!

Who Shall I Tag?

I’m currently a bit occupied (and a bit lazy) to tag people, so I will be taking the easy way out for this and say that if you like this tag, go for it! I’ll be tagging people later on, probably tomorrow, whenever I get the chance. So keep your eyes out for that! But again, don’t feel shy to tell me if you like this tag! I’ll add your name to the post.

***

So I hope you guys enjoyed this tag! Tell me below what you think of my answers. I’d love to know if we have any in choices in common! ❤ Also, if you do this tag, don’t forget to link back to this post so I’m absolutely sure not to miss it! 🙂

Happy reading!

The Unpopular Opinion Book Tag!

Hey everyone! I decided to squeeze in this book tag before I leave for school. I haven’t posted this weekend, :(, since I’ve been so swamped with things! I even didn’t get the chance to create a scheduled post. Anyway, I was tagged in this tag by Calliope the Book Goddess! Thank you so much! ❤ I really appreciate it. If you all haven’t visited her blog yet, do so immediately since it’s full of fun and quality posts.

Let’s get on with it!

1. A popular book or series that you didn’t like

Me Earl and the Dying Girl

I’m sure all of you (or at least most of you) know by now that I didn’t like the Matched book and series, so to change up my answer for once, I’m going to go with a more recent read, which is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. I reviewed it—if you want to check it out, press here—and really, it was quite difficult since I wanted to like this book so much, but I just didn’t.

2. A popular book that everyone hates but you love

The Selection

Okay, not everyone hates this book, but a lot of people do. However I happen to love this book, because after all, ♪Haters gonna hate! There’s just something so satisfying to me in reading these books, they’re just so much fun, even if it’s not exactly quality writing.

3. A love triangle where your ship did not sail

Matched

I actually had a very hard time choosing a book for this! There are so many love triangles in books, I hadn’t even realized how in most of them I’m okay with the end choice. Though it’s probably my brain failing me right now. Come on. It’s a Monday, people.

Anyway, I’m going to choose the love triangle in Matched by Ally Condie, between Cassia, Xander, and… Ky? Right? I think that’s his name. I’m not going to say who I wish the girl ends up with, in case any of you ever wanted to read this book. 😉 (In case you want to know, I don’t recommend it. Unfortunately.)

4. A popular genre that you hardly reach for

I don’t know… probably historical fiction? It’s not that I dislike reading it, I just don’t, you know? Oh, and non-fiction! I have attempted to read several nonfiction novels in recent months, and it’s just not for me.

5. A beloved character you didn’t like

Shatter Me

I’m going to choose Adam for this one. Although he’s not particularly ‘beloved’ by a lot of people (thank goodness! He doesn’t deserve it) I know there are lots of people who ship Juliette and Adam together, and like him. So, yeah. I think it’s been clear to a lot of you what my feelings on Adam are, am I right? (AKA Let’s go dump him in a fire.)

6. A popular author you can’t get into

Hmm… I honestly don’t have an answer for this one right now! Maybe it’s a case of the Monday that’s influenceing me, but there really is no ‘popular’ author that I can’t get into. Huh. I wonder what that says about me…

7. A popular books series you have no interest in reading

Fifty Shades of Grey Book Cover

I don’t think this comes as a shock to any of you, but if it does, well, now you know! 🙂 I’m not saying anything bad against people who did read this or want to read it, but I simply don’t have any interest at all reading this book series myself.

8. An adaptation you like better than the book

I have a feeling when I watch Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, I might be having that as an answer, but I haven’t watched it yet so I’m going to go with The Fault in Our Stars! I liked the book, but I would say I enjoyed the movie more, which doesn’t happen often for me, so yeah. (Ugh, these ‘so yeahs’ are bothering me…I am so out of it today!)

Tagging Time!

I tagged a lot of people in my last book tag (which was My Life in Books, I believe?) and right now I am completely blanked out on people to tag, since I need to be leaving soon and don’t have enough time to think about it! :/ So if you think this tag is cool and haven’t done it before, please don’t be shy to let me know, since I’d be happy to tag you! ❤ I will probably be tagging people anyway later on today, once I have more time. 🙂

So, I tag…

So what did you think of my answers? Agree on any of them? I’d be curious to hear what you’d choose!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

My Life in Books | Book Tag

Hello everyone! I wasn’t specifically tagged by anyone to do this, but I saw this way back on Bhramori’s blog, and I thought I might try it out. I really shouldn’t be doing this tag when I have so many other pending tags in which I was actually tagged in, but this one was in my drafts for quite some time, so why not? It seems like a pretty unique tag too, so let’s get to it, shall we?

My Life in Books

1. Find a book for each of your initials
.

There are lots of books I could choose! I’m going to go with:

Angelfall by Susan Ee

(A)

Saint Anything

(S)

2. Count your age along your book shelf- which book is it?

That would be 17… and the book would be:

The Truth About Forever

3. Pick a book set in your city/state/country.

I decided to go for the broad choice for this one, with a book that is set in my country (Canada, in case you didn’t know):

Anne of Green Gables

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to.

Umm… basically every book?? I’m not even kidding. But I’m going to go with:

Anna & the French Kiss_bookcover2

I’ve always wanted to visit Paris, France! I haven’t read this book yet, but judging from the cover and what I’ve read about it, Paris is one of its settings. 🙂

5. Pick a book that’s your favourite colour.

I love almost all the colors of the rainbow, so I guess the most accurate choices would be:

The covers for A Thousand Pieces of You and Ten Thousand Skies Above You are stunning!! Love them so much!!

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

Probably Roald Dahl‘s books! I remember loving to read them as a kid. 🙂

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Matched trilogy

I feel like I use this series way too much for these kind of questions, but I honestly can’t think of any that would suit this question more. It’s pretty sad when you think of it. To me, the series just got worse and it took me forever to complete the books.

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

Game of Thrones Book

Probably the Game of Thrones series! Those books are really thick, and since currently I don’t even know if I’m going to read them, I imagine if I do finish the series, it would be quite satisfying.

This was a very cool tag! I hereby tag:

I’m sorry if I missed you on here! If you want to do this tag, please just tell me below and I’ll add your name to the post. ❤ I’d love to see your answers if you do it, so please link back if you do it! If you don’t want to do it and I tagged you, feel free to ignore!

So what did you think of my answers and this tag? Let me know in the comments! Hope you’re having a great Friday!
