Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern (AKA Where Rainbows End) | Book Review

(Stand-Alone)

Published: February 1st 2005

Synopsis:

Sometimes you have to look at life in a whole new way…

From the bestselling author of PS, I Love You comes a delightfully enchanting novel about what happens when two people who are meant to be together just can’t seem to get it right.

Rosie and Alex are destined for one another, and everyone seems to know it but them. Best friends since childhood, their relationship gets closer by the day, until Alex gets the news that his family is leaving Dublin and moving to Boston. At 17, Rosie and Alex have just started to see each other in a more romantic light. Devastated, the two make plans for Rosie to apply to colleges in the U.S.

She gets into Boston University, Alex gets into Harvard, and everything is falling into place, when on the eve of her departure, Rosie gets news that will change their lives forever: She’s pregnant by a boy she’d gone out with while on the rebound from Alex.

Her dreams for college, Alex, and a glamorous career dashed, Rosie stays in Dublin to become a single mother, while Alex pursues a medical career and a new love in Boston. But destiny is a funny thing, and in this novel, structured as a series of clever e-mails, letters, notes, and a trail of missed opportunities, Alex and Rosie find out that fate isn’t done with them yet.

From the gifted author of PS, I Love You comes this charming, romantic, addictively page-turning novel that will keep readers laughing and guessing until the very last page.

Armchair BEA 2015 | Book to Movie Adaptations

Hello! Armchair BEA is coming to an end, unfortunately! Today’s topic is Book to Movie Adaptations:

Book to Movie Adaptions
What books do you want to be made into a movie or television show? What are some of your favorites? We’ll explore more about this topic, especially what works and what doesn’t.  Are there any upcoming shows or movies that you’re excited for? What are your recommendations?

Book to movie adaptations that I think stayed true to the book:

  • Harry Potter. These movies were all amazing, and there’s no big issue I have with them! The actors were spot-on and I will always remember them as perfect HP characters. I think these movies are one of the best book-to-movie adaptations out there, to be honest. I just loved these movies so much!
  • Hunger Games. These movies were another really good book-to-movie adaptation. I think Jennifer Lawrence made a great Katniss, and the plot stayed pretty close to the book.
  • The Fault in Our Stars. This movie was another adaptation that I think was spot-on. It wasn’t better than the book, but definitely is a rival. It was just that good (in terms of being similar to the book).
  • Pride and Prejudice (2005). This was the only adaptation I’ve seen of Pride and Prejudice, and I really liked it! It was pretty similar to the book, I think.
  • The Princess Diaries. This adaptation wasn’t that similar with the book, but it was a really good movie, so it’s on this list!

Popsugar Reading Challenge Week 5 Update!

Hiya! Time for another Popsugar Reading Challenge Update, this time for week 5! I’m happy to say this week has been quite productive! Since my last update, my challenge now stands at: 28/50 (Week 1: 5 books, Week 2: 4 books, Week 3: 7 books, Week 4: 3 books, Week 5: 9)! A bit more than halfway through, yes! 😀

  • A book with more than 500 pages: Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
  • A classic romance: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  • A book that became a movie: Insurgent by Veronica Roth
  • A book published this year: The Heir by Kiera Cass
  • A book with a number in the title: Four: A Divergent Story Collection by Veronica Roth
  • A book written by someone under 30: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
  • A book with nonhuman characters: Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
  • A funny book: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
  • A book with a one-word title: Aftermath by Tom Lewis
  • A book of short stories: The Goddess Legacy by Aimee Carter
  • A book set in a different country: Tiger’s Promise by Colleen Houck
  • A popular author’s first book: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
  • A book a friend recommended: Hereafter by Tara Hudson
  • A book at the bottom of your to-read list: Skinned by Robin Wasserman
  • A book based entirely on its cover: A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
  • A book you can finish in a day: The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West
  • A trilogy: (Penryn & the End of Days by Susan Ee) Angelfall, World After, End of Days)
  • A book with a love triangle: Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • A book set in the future: Flash Point by Nancy Kress
  • A book set in high school: The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
  • A graphic novel: Sisters by Reina Telgemeier
  • A book by an author you’ve never read before: Animal by Nikki Rae
  • A book you own but have never read: Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
  • A book that was originally written in a different language: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
  • A book you started but never finished: Wicked by Sara Shepard
  • A banned book: The Giver by Lois Lowry

9 books in one week! Definitely my best. (The fact that Sisters is graphic novel and Aftermath was really short will be ignored…) I would love to celebrate my progress, but as a result of all this reading, my studying has been… procrastinated. I will most assuredly not be getting good grades this year… Oops! Better get to it. Exams almost over, though, woo-hoo! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish up the many rough drafts of my reviews that I have pending soon.

WWW Wednesday #8 (May 27)

Formerly featured @ Should Be Reading, WWW Wednesday is a meme now hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words.

We simply need to answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading?

I’m so close to finishing Inkheart!! It’s really good. As for Ignite Me, I’m super excited to finish it, as it is the third book in the Shatter me trilogy. I’m perhaps… 40% through it? Fire in Frost is quite interesting and I’m looking forward to finishing it. Around 10% through it.

Recently Finished?

I finished quite a lot of books since last wednesday! I don’t remember them all, of course. Most recently I finished: Aftermath by Tom Lewis & Wicked by Sara Shepherd. Other books I finished include End of Days by Susan Ee, Animal by Nikki Rae & Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern. Hopefully reviews will be coming soon!

Read Next?

I know I’m participating in a read-along for A Court of Thorns and Roses (along with several other bloggers) sometime in June, as well a buddy read with Tasha & Poulami in July for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I don’t know when exactly I’ll be starting these, but I know I’ll be reading them! Other than those two, I’m going to continue with books on my Popsugar challenge, which will include:

I also have review copies I will be getting to:

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! I’d love it if you link your posts below or answer the questions in a comment.

Happy reading!

Top 10 Tuesday #7 (May 26): Top Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer

Top 1o Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is top ten books that I plan to have in my beach bag this summer/great beach reads. I’ll be going with the former option, as I have way more beachy reads that I plan to read this summer than I have already read. 😀 (All book titles link to Goodreads)

P.S I Still Love You_bookcover1. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

No-brainer! After the heart-wrenching cliffhanger in the previous book To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I’m dying to read this, and it just got released today. Probably going to get it on my upcoming book haul. 🙂

2. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan MatsonSince You've Been Gone_bookcover

I’ve been hearing a lot about this book, and it just screams ‘summer’ to me. How can I not bring this along in my beach bag?

Ugly Love_bookcover3.  Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Or any book by Colleen Hoover, really. I haven’t read any books by Colleen Hoover yet, so it doesn’t necesarily matter to me which book of hers will be packed!

4. On the Fence by Kasie WestOn the Fence

I already read this, but I really want to read this again. It was just such a sweet book, I can’t resist!

P.S I Love You_bookcover5. P.S I Love You by Cecelia Ahern

I loved Cecelia Ahern’s Love, Rosie, and as I currently have P.S I Love You waiting on my shelf, I’m looking forward to reading it!

6. Saint Anything by Sarah DessenSaint Anything_bookcover

I’ve been dying to read this, I have no idea why I haven’t already.

The Truth About Forever_bookcover7. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

I already read this, but I’d love to re-read this! It’s simply an amazing book!

8. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah OcklerThe Summer of Chasing Mermaids_bookcover

Seems like such a fun book! ❤

Untitled-49. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi

Another fun, light read I will definitely pack in my beach bag.

10. Wait For You by J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout)Wait For You_bookcover

Jennifer Armentrout (writing as J. Lynn) is one of my favorite authors, and I can’t wait to read this New-Adult Contemporary Romance novel of hers, the first in the Wait For You series.

Honourable mentions: Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel, Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

Of course, there are other books (like ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas) that I’m going to be reading this summer, but these are the books I’ll be reading beach-wise, the fun, light, contemporary books.

So that’s it for this week’s Top 10 Tuesday! What are you planning on bringing along for the beach? Or what are you planning on reading this summer? Let me know in the comments below!

Mini May Book Haul

I usually post a huge book haul post at the end of each month, but as I just got some awesome new books yesterday, I decided to show them off! 😉 The camera on my iPod is glitching right now, so I won’t be able to post original pictures of the books, unfortunately! I’ll have to make do with the covers off Goodreads.

So, the books I got:

Book titles (linking to Goodreads):

I’m so excited to finally have purchased this stunning book! ❤ I’m already halfway through it (#ReadingInClass) and it’s amazing so far!

I’m loving her Love, Rosie book so far, so I had to buy this book! Plus, that cover though! So fun, with bright colors. My kind of thing!

Same reason as P.S I Love You! I also heard several good things about this book.

I’ve heard so much hype surrounding this book, and I’m dying to read it!

I don’t think I need to explain this one! There’s been so much hype around this, and so many great reviews! Can’t wait to read it.

I had no idea Kody Keplinger wrote a companion novel to The DUFF! The minute I saw it, I knew I had to buy it! (*Check out my review on The DUFF here.)

Do I have to explain this one? I’m super excited to read this, I know it’s been a while since it’s been released, but I just haven’t had the chance to read it! 🙂

So that’s it for my mini book haul! Keep your eyes out for my bigger haul I will be posting at the end of this month. 🙂

What books have you recently hauled? Let me know in the comments below! ❤

Happy hauling!

WWW Wednesday #6 (May 13)

Hey there! It’s Wednesday, everybody, and you know what that means: WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. We simply answer three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading

I am currently reading Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, Ghost Story by Peter Straub & my e-ARC of Frankly TWISTED by Kevin Eleven.

Recently Finished

Hmm, let’s see… MOST recently I finished To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, The Distance Between Us by Kasie West, & The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West.

I don’t really remember the other books I’ve read recently. Oh well. These are the main ones. (Notice a theme?)

Oh wait, there’s The Heir by Kiera Cass that I finished recently too. 🙂

Reading Next…

I still haven’t gotten around to Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern unfortunately, so I will definitely be getting to that soon, and am looking forward to it. I’m also going to read Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi, (the novella in between the second and third book in the Shatter Me series) as soon as I finish Unravel Me, and will probably then move on to Ignite Me, the last book in the series. Of course, I will also be picking up End of Days by Susan Ee as soon as I can get my hands on it, and along with that I will be getting to Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Finally, I will then read my review copy of Animal by Nikki Rae.

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Will read next? Let me know in the comments below or link your post! I’d love to read your answers.

Happy Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday #5 (May 06)

Another WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted @ Should be Reading, but is now hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. Let’s get started!

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Hereafter by Tara Hudson, which I started 2 days ago, (Hereafter teaser HERE) as well as The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter, which I started today.

What did you recently finish reading?

Most recently (yesterday, in fact) I finished reading A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray & Tales from the 23rd Precinct by Kevin Eleven. Other books I’ve recently finished would include The Giver by Lois Lowry, Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen, & Shatter Me and Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Continuing with books on my Popsugar Challenge reading list, I have decided I will read Skinned by Robin Wasserman, as well as Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern. After that I will possibly read Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Sometime between these novels I will also probably read my ARC of Frankly TWISTED by Kevin Eleven, the forthcoming novel to Tales from the 23rd Precinct.

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Will read next? Let me know in the comments below or link your post! 🙂

Happy Wednesday!
