Re-reading! Library books! Woo! | WWW Wednesday #47 (April 20th)

Hey everyone! I think this post was actually supposed to go up earlier, but I guess there was a glitch and it didn’t. (Technology can be a bother sometimes.. *sigh*) But anyway here I am with this week’s WWW Wednesday! I actually managed to get A LOT of reading done, by some kind of magic witchcraft. And I enjoyed basically all of them, so yesss. Success right there! Alright, so let’s get into the what of everything.

I started my re-read of The Raven Boys yesterday! I’m hoping to have this and at least the second book finished before the release of The Raven King (which I can’t wait for, by the way). I don’t actually talk about this series much (or ever), I’ve noticed, but I actually do like it! Re-reading it now is making me enjoy it more than the first time, I think. Just a little.

Recently Finished

The Winner’s Curse was the book I had been reading last week, and, well, I finished it! It was a re-read, and I loved it just as much as when I read it the first time. ❤

It’s a Wonderful Death was a surprise read for me, actually. I hadn’t planned on reading it, but I got it from the library the other day and since it seemed like a quick read, I decided to read it! And gosh, I loved it. It was such an insightful yet fun read!

A Step Toward Falling was another library book I got. At first I wasn’t that into it, but by the time I reached the end, I really enjoyed it! I’m definitely going to be trying out Cammie McGovern’s other novel, Say What You Will, sometime as well.

And finally, I also read What We Left Behind. I’ve been really into the library and contemporary books this week, it seems! This, as well, was a really good read. Full of diverse and interesting characters, I had so much fun reading this, especially since the author dealt with the LGBT themes so well.

So, I finished my re-read of The Winner’s Curse the other day (it was sooo good!) and am currently planning on writing up a review on it. I’m kind of debating whether to just do a series review once I finished The Winner’s Kiss? If I do then I can go straight ahead to The Winner’s Crime but otherwise I have to wait ’till I’m done writing my review… I’m quite indecisive right now. So.

Moving on, I’m currently re-reading The Raven Boys in anticipation for the release of The Raven King, and obviously, once I finish it I’ll be moving on to The Dream Thieves, the second book! I really must finish my re-read of the series soon, for the fourth book is being released quite soon. I think?

And, now, here’s a confession: I haven’t read The Moth and the Flame or The Crown and the Arrow yet! (They’re novellas set in the world of The Wrath and the Dawn, in case you didn’t know.) I know, I know. But I’ve been a busy little chocolate bar, and I just thought I might as well wait–The Rose and the Dagger is being released soon, after all, and these novellas might be useful to jog my memory as to what happened in TWATD.

Finally, I’ve decided to add Tell Me Three Things to this list–is it just me, or did that book seem to appear everywhere for a while? Those blog tour people sure know how to attack us with book publicity! But maybe that was just me. So. Anyway, I am mildly intrigued and definitely want to check it out!

So there we have it for this week! What books on here have you read? What book do you think I should pick next? How has your reading been this week? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! I hope you’re all enjoying your Wednesday. ❤

The dreaded reading slump has been defeated! | WWW Wednesday #46 (April 13th)

It’s been a while since I did a WWW Wednesday post (3-4 weeks, I think?) but to be fair, I hadn’t really read much in those weeks… or at all? Like, maybe one book. So. I was in a major blogging and reading slump–thankfully those dark days are over! *dances around with chocolate* But I’m back this week to catch up a bit on what I’ve been reading, what I plan to read, etc. Yes, yes, I know, you missed me and these posts. Probably not but hushhh.

WWW Wednesday

Some of you may recall, how I started Illuminae.. maybe three weeks ago? Even longer? Yeah. Well, I haven’t made any progress with it! :/ Which makes me really sad, actually. It’s just I haven’t been in the mood to read this AT ALL. I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up and read it, even after my reading slump was over. Which is why I’m thinking right now just to leave it? Not leave it forever, but, like, pause reading it? I don’t want to force myself to read it and end up enjoying it a lot less than I could have otherwise. So. I’m confused.

The Winner’s Curse is actually a re-read for me, since I read it a year ago or something? And since the third book has been released, I decided to start rereading the first two books! I kind of was unwilling to reread because there are SO MANY other books I want to read, but it’s been so long since I read this. So. So far I’m really enjoying it! Arin and Kestrel… ❤

Recently Finished

I actually don’t even know what spurred me to read The Impostor Queen–but what I do know, is that it managed to jarr me out of my slump! I started it and I think I finished it, in like, less than two days. It started off kind of ‘meh’, decent, but nothing too great, but then it really became something amazing. I really loved the fantasy world it created, with magic based around fire and ice and everything. Loved it!

My friend actually had a copy of The Glittering Court (I was kind of surprised, tbh) and since I was kind of wary of whether I’d like it or not, I just borrowed it from her. I wouldn’t say it was a bad read, but… it wasn’t amazing either. I mean, I liked the concept well enough, but I wasn’t always the biggest fan of the characters, which really put down the enjoyment factor. :/ I wished I liked it more, though I did still like it.

The book that followed The Glittering Court, however, made up for more than my partial disappointment over TGC. The Sky is Everywhere blew away all and any of the expectations I had! If you haven’t read this book already, guys, I’m telling you, you must. (At least if you’re into contemporaries.) A book with themes of sisterhood, coping with grief and of course, love, The Sky is Everywhere is such an emotional and fabulous read–READ IT.

Read Next

What We Left Behind has been on my TBR since last year, when it was released, but I never got around to reading it! I’ve been kind of wanting to read another contemporary after The Sky is Everywhere, but I ended up starting The Winner’s Curse instead. Once I finish that I might read this?

The Winner’s Crime, of course, is the sequel to The Winner’s Curse. I’ll also be rereading this, obviously. I’m not going to read it directly after Winner’s Curse (a la binge-read fashion) because I do want to write up a review of it before moving onto the second book. 🙂

The Raven King will be releasing this month, and to prepare for it I decided I want to re-read the previous books in the series, starting, of course, with The Raven Boys! I’m really in a rereading mood this month, LOL. XD I blame this on you, publishers, for making books in a series so spread apart!

Alright, this book isn’t a reread, as I’ve been meaning to read this for SO LONG you know this; Red Rising! I’ve heard so many amazing things (but then, don’t I say that about nearly every book? Oops.) and I can’t wait to read it. Fingers crossed!

Erm, are we missing anything? Nope, don’t think so (though I wouldn’t mind having some chocolate right now.. I’m kind of hungry.) so I guess that means it’s time for you guys to talk to me! Because you all know I need your opinions and approvals. XD So leave any of your thoughts below! I’d love to hear them. And feel free to link your own WWW post below!

Happy Wednesday!

I read Lady Midnight… and it was AMAZING. | WWW Wednesday #45 (March 16th)

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday once again, which of course means, a WWW Wednesday post! The biggest news I have really is the fact that I read both Lady Midnight and A Gathering of Shadows, both of which I absolutely loved! Though agh, I’m still reading Illuminae. Oops.

Alright, let’s get to the actual books!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words), where we answer the following questions:

What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Okay, yes, I realize I have been reading this for almost over a week now, and yes, I realize that I have been giving priority to other books instead of this one BUT I swear, I’m actually going to focus on this now. (Well, I’ll try. And that counts for something, right?) I really do want to finish this book!

Recently Finished

I (shockingly) managed to find time to finish the rest of the Tales from Shadowhunter Academy ebooks! I couldn’t help it; I really wanted to move on to Lady Midnight, but I wanted to finish the tales first. And I’m glad I did–I really enjoyed them!

A Gathering of Shadows was so, so, SO good. But that cliffhanger! Aghhhhh it’s too painful. My emotions were all over for this book, my heart got stomped on, I had some near-screeching moments where characters made unintelligent moves, my heart got stomped on–you know, the usual. It was such a great sequel to the already fantastic ADSOM–It was amazing!

Okay, so my last read for this week was the hugely anticipated Lady Midnight! *Cue fangirling shrieks* Once I finished the Tales from Shadowhunter Academy, I decided I couldn’t wait and dived right into Lady Midnight. And oh. my. god. I cannot even express my feelings of love right now since they’re so intense. I literally devoured this whole book and it was so amazing, just simply fantastic. If you’re hesitating about reading this, I’m telling you, READ ITTTTT. NOWW.

Red Rising is on my list once again this week–and I’m hoping to get to it soon after finishing Illuminae! I’ve been looking forward to jumping on the Pierce Brown bandwagon for a while now. 🙂

The Rest of Us Just Live Here has been one of those books I kept telling myself I’d read, yet never got around to. I’ve put off putting it on my Read Next list for some reason? But now I’m finally going to try and read it. It’s not that I don’t want to.. it’s just I’m scared of my expectations? So.

I’ve been meaning to read The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender (woo, that’s a mouthful) for a while now, due to its intriguing synopsis and the things I’ve heard about it. I doubt I’ll actually be able to read this, but I do plan on reading it sometime!

Unlike the rest of the above books I mentioned, Vicious isn’t technically part of my March TBR, but I’ve decided that I most definitely want to read it this month! It’s been on my TBR FOREVER and now, having read ADSOM and AGOS, I’m craving for another novel by V.E. Schwab.

Alright so that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! It’s been a busy week, though not as much as usual, but I’m still quite shocked I managed to get through so much! Lady Midnight and A Gathering of Shadows both were quite long novels, haha. Though totally worth it!

What books have you been reading recently? What do you think of the books this week? Anyone else out there who’s read Lady Midnight or A Gathering of Shadows? I’d love to chat, so leave all and any of your thoughts in the comments! ❤ Hope you’re enjoying your day!

Lady Midnight has been released and I still don’t have it! *Cries* | WWW Wednesday #44 (March 9th)

Okay, sooo firstly, let me just freak out over the fact that Lady Midnight came out yesterday!! *Dies* Ahhhh I’m heading over to buy it soon, definitely. I’d have pre-ordered it but eh. For some reason I’m not a big fan of pre-ordering? Call me crazy, but yeah. I can’t wait to buy it, omg. I still don’t have it though.. SOB.

BUT that’s not the point of this post, ah yes. Apart from Lady Midnight news, I started A Gathering of Shadows! I posted my review of the first book on Monday and I started the second book now, I’m so excited!! But let me share the rest of my bookish on-goings…

I started Illuminae several days ago.. but I haven’t made much progress with it? I know, I know, I really have to get going with it but in between I started Frozen Tides and I finished that and then so I unintentionally went on a pause from Illuminae, and then.. well, point is, I still have a lot to go on this, agh. But it’s not bad so far!

After writing up my review on A Darker Shade of Magic, I didn’t waste any time starting A Gathering of Shadows! In hindsight it might’ve been better to have finished Illuminae first, but… temptation bit hard. So far it’s really good–and I can’t wait to read more of it!

The Accident Season was SO GOOD! It was so entertaining to read, not to mention I loved the writing and the characters were very well-written. Ahhh. And there were so many little things that I loved! The whole magical realism thing going on was super cool too. Definitely recommend for those who don’t mind a little creepiness and are looking for a contemporary/magical realism crossover-type book!

I started Frozen Tides while in the midst of reading Illuminae, as it was the last book to read for the Falling Kingdoms read-along (the next books in the series haven’t been published yet) and it was amazing. I could not put it down and it was absolutely addicting! I found myself loving the characters and everything a lot more (although critically, it wasn’t as good as how much I enjoyed it.)

Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy and The Lost Herondale are both books part of the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy series, and *gasp* I hadn’t read them yet, so with the release of Lady Midnight, I decided to read them! I absolutely can’t wait to read Lady Midnight, but I’m hoping to finish the 10 novellas in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy first. (Apparently there are characters in it that will appear in Lady Midnight too?)

Read Next

I ended up taking off Lola and the Boy Next Door, which was on my list last week, to add again another time. Right now I’m too much in a fantasy and action-type mood to pick up anything else, though I might change my mind.

So, after The Lost Herondale comes The Whitechapel Fiend followed by Nothing But Shadows! I’m hoping to get at least those two read, and maybe even more so I can start Lady Midnight as soon as possible. 😉

Red Rising has been on my TBR for quite some time, and although I doubt I will be getting to it this week, I’m adding it to the list, just to make sure I remember to read it at least some time soon. Hopefully. I can’t wait!

And of course, Lady Midnight is on my list once again. I know I mentioned I’d read the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy before I read LM, and I’m hoping to do that, but I might just give in to the temptation and read this as soon as I get it. Lol. Do I even need to say I’m excited? It would be an understatement anyway.

Alright, so that’s it for this week! I’m still crying over the fact that I still don’t have Lady Midnight, but I’m calmed (like, by 0.000000001%) because I started A Gathering of Shadows—which I’m so excited to read!! I’m hoping to complete Illuminae as well, I’ve heard so much about it and I feel bad for kind of neglecting it in favour of other books, haha.

How has your week gone? What books on here have you read? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! ❤

Ahhhh the hype has most definitely not been wrong for Wolf by Wolf!! It was absolutely spectacular, guys, if you haven’t read it already, I’m telling you, you absolutely should! Even if you’re not a fan of historical fiction, I assure you this book is amazing.

A Darker Shade of Magic is SUCH A HYPED BOOK, especially with the release of its sequel! And so yes, I finally read it, and god, I’m asking myself now, what on earth took me so long to get to it??! Although there were a few things that I wasn’t a huge fan of, this book had me hooked from start to finish and I loved it.

Stars Above wasn’t exactly a planned read, but I recently got a copy of it from my library (agh I want to buy it so badly though *stomps angrily*) and I got started on it right away! I loved reading the novellas, though kind of feeling nostalgic now since it was the last of a book with the characters from LC, haha.

Read Next

I took off one of the other reads I had planned to read next—Aristotle and Dante—I think I’d rather read it later on, during spring or summer? I know, I know. But I WILL read it someday!

The Falling Kingdoms read-along is soon moving on with the 4th book in the series, Frozen Tides, this Friday! I really enjoyed reading Gathering Darkness, so I can’t wait to see how the fourth book turns out.

As you tell from my squealing over ADSOM, I can’t wait to read the sequel, A Gathering of Shadows! And so that’s exactly what I have on my read next. I want to try and get a review on ADSOM before I start it though, so we’ll see how it goes.

Illuminae is on my list again, but I have no idea when I might be picking this up. It’s such a huge book, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to fit it into my schedule, especially with my other planned reads! Ahhh time is so hard to get these days. :/

And then finally, I have Lola and the Boy Next Door once again, though I doubt I’ll be able to read it this week, as much as I’d like to. And like I mentioned before, I’m thinking of postponing it until later anyway? I dunno. It’s a possibility. Any suggestions?

I hope you guys are enjoying your Wednesdays! ❤ Let me know your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to chat. Have any of you read Wolf by Wolf or A Darker Shade of Magic? Did you enjoy them as much as I did? What books on here have you read? Which books should I read next? Happy reading!

Too many books, too little time! | WWW Wednesday #42 (February 24th)

Hello! How are you all today? Okay, so I think I should just name ALL my WWW Wednesday posts ‘too many books, too little time’?? That’s already what I say for my life, soooo…  Oh well. I can never find enough time to read.. and there’s just so many books I want to read. (That is, allll of them. Which is proving to be more and more impossible.)

However, I did manage to get some reading done this past week! And I’m currently reading two books, that I hope to finish this week… that counts for something, right? Of course it does. So let’s just go onto the books!

Yes, I finally started both A Darker Shade of Magic AND Wolf by Wolf! I wasn’t going to pick up Wolf by Wolf after I started A Darker Shade of Magic, but then I decided I might as well seeing as I can read A Darker Shade of Magic as an ebook (but I also have a physical copy for some reason??) and Wolf by Wolf only as a hardcover. So yay!

I started ADSOM on Monday, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to read it much! It really sucks but I hope to make more progress on it this week. It’s okay so far, I guess, though unfortunately I haven’t gotten much time to read it.

As for Wolf by Wolf—I just started it yesterday night! I think I’m on the 4th or 5th chapter?? I’m actually really liking it so far. Let’s just say it definitely didn’t waste any time in getting the action started!

I might also decide to put either WbW or ADSOM on pause while I finish the other, but I don’t know yet… should I? I mean, they’re both in different formats, so it’s easy to pick up one if I don’t have the other, or something… I dunno. I’m terrible at making decisions sometimes. I guess it might just happen naturally though if I start to favor one over the other lol.

I finished Glass Sword! If you saw my Spotlight Saturday post, you know how I felt about it. I’d repeat it, but basically the gist of is; although it became a roller-coaster of emotions near the end, I was left indifferent for a majority of the book, sooo. Yeah. Not the reaction I was going for, but it was still good. (The book, not the reaction.)

Omg Gathering Darkness has me wanting to read the fourth book asap! So much drama in this one, as well as betrayal, romance, and just, it was totally entertaining!! I’m tempted to just continue with the fourth book even though I’m supposed to wait for March 4th?? I’m also trying to decide if I should do separate reviews for each of the books or just do a series review… thoughts?

Agh More Happy Than Not was amazing… it completely broke my heart?! But I honestly loved it. There were so many amazing themes and relationships between characters…and oh my god, the ending?! I hit the end and ahhhhhh my heart!! I couldn’t stop reading but my heart just got stomped on… but I loved it? I can totally see what the hype was about now!

Lola and the Boy Next Door is on my list again this week—I have a feeling reading it might be a good relief after the two more heavier reads I’m reading currently…

So many people have been urging me to read Aristotle and Dante! And so I’ve decided to add it to my read next this month, in hopes of being able to find the motivation to read it! Not sure what’s stopping me, but oh well.

Ahh, Illuminae. This book completely blew up in the book community, and I’m itching to see why! Though right now the sheer size of it intimidates me.. But I want to read this, I do!

I added The Accident Season to my monthly TBR plan for February, and I thought I might as well add it to the read next this week, though I have no idea when or if I’ll be picking it up this week. Doubt I’ll have the time, but who knows?

So that’s it for this week’s reading progress! How has your reading been going? Feel free to link your WWW down below if you have one. What books should I focus on next? Have any of you read any of the above books? Let me know in the comments! ❤

I’m reading Glass Sword! So far it’s okay. | WWW Wednesday #41 (February 17th)

I started Glass Sword a few days ago, I think? I haven’t gotten the chance to read it that often though, so I haven’t made as much progress as I would’ve liked, haha. So far it’s okay?? I mean, nothing note-worthy to say other than the fact that I think I’m suddenly a lot more indifferent to the characters.. that’s probably not a good thing. :/ But still, off to a good start!

I also started More Happy Than Not, though I haven’t made much progress with it. I’m literally, only like, 10% through?? But I can’t wait to read more of it! I’m thinking though I might have to put it either this or Glass Sword on pause while I finish one or the other..

Yes, I finally hopped aboard the Stephanie Perkins train! Well, I’m making my way, at least. I managed to finish Anna and the French Kiss quite quickly, and I really enjoyed it! I recently wrote my review on it too, which you can check out for a more detailed version of my thoughts here.

Not If I See You First actually went waaay past my expectations! I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, other than the fact that I hoped it would turn out to be good since it sounded interesting. XD But it was such an entertaining read! I hadn’t read many (if at all) books from the perspective of a blind person, and Not if I See You First was written so wonderfully in that aspect. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to write up my review soon!

Omg I swear I’m actually going to at least START Wolf by Wolf this week. I WILL. I swear, everyone is telling me to read this book and I see so many references to it—I can’t resist! I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet, to be honest. Maybe because fear of disappointment? Probably. But I shall be brave and I will pick this up as soon as I finish the books I’m currently reading! Lol.

So many people are squealing about the last book in the Anna and the French Kiss series, Isla and the Happily Ever After, that I can’t help but want to get to it quickly, which means reading the next book! Plus I have heard great things about Lola and the Boy Next Door, and am eager to continue with another Stephanie Perkins book.

The Falling Kingdoms read-along is still going on, and I believe we are due to start the third book, Gathering Darkness.. today! We have to have it finished by March 3rd, I think, so that’s plenty of time. I do want to read it soon though! I’ve heard that things get better in this one in comparison to the first two, so… #hopeful (Though the first two weren’t that bad, mind you.)

The sequel to A Darker Shade of Magic is being released this month, and I’ve been waiting FOREVER to actually pick this up (I’ve been telling myself that I would for so long!) so maybe putting it on the read next this week might push me to pick it up. I don’t know what has been stopping me, really. Maybe fear of disappointment? Oh well. Fingers crossed I’ll pick it up this time!

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! I managed to finish 2 books, and I really enjoyed them both.. so YAY! Seriously though, they were really good. I don’t know which book I should focus more on: Glass Sword or More Happy Than Not?? And for my next reads, I really want to read… um, all of them??! They all seem soo good! But I think I’ll be prioritizing Wolf by Wolf or Gathering Darkness first.
So, any thoughts, fangirling, opinions? Which book should I read after I finish the ones I’m currently reading? Have you read Glass Sword? Feel free to leave your thoughts down below, I always love a good chat. Seriously, I do. I probably talk more than I should all the time sometimes. Like now.
Happy Wednesday! ❤

I read Passenger! And a couple of other books. | WWW Wednesday #40 (February 10th)

Hola, mi amigos! Sorry, that just came out. But yes, hello, hola, no matter which language, you get the point! I hope you guys are all enjoying your Wednesday morning—right now mine is composed of me being more than half asleep and having some vague notions of things I should be doing… But details, details. Not if I See You First

I literally just started Not If I See You First this morning, (soooo near the time of which this post is being written) but so far it’s off to an okay start! I’m withholding major judgement until I read more of it, of course.

Recently Finished

I recently finished Rebel Spring as part of a read-along, anndddd… I still don’t know what exactly I think of it. I know, I know! I finished this, what, 6 days ago? But.. my feelings are kind of conflicted. I think I liked it?? But it had its downsides. Right now I think my rating would be in the 3-3.5 star range… I have to admit I was expecting more! But still, decent.

Tonight the Streets Are Ours is such a fun book! It was such an unconventional love story in that it will most likely take you by surprise..! I know it did for me, but who knows. I loved the characters and the role they all played, not to mention the theme in general. Overall this was a lovely book!

And of course, as declared in my title, I finally picked up Passenger! Remember how I was wary of reading it due to potential disappointment? Well, for one thing, I have to say I’m kind of glad I went into this with kind of lowered expectations, because I’m sure if I had went in with higher ones, I would’ve been a lot more disappointed. As such, Passenger wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t 100% perfection, which is a shame because I so greatly enjoyed The Darkest Minds. Oh well.

AGH I swear I will read Wolf by Wolf sometime this week! Or if not, the week after, but I WILL READ IT some time or another. I’ve been encountering tons of shrieking fangirling bloggers who are urging me to read this and so I hopefully will get around to it soon!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard released yesterday, and although I don’t yet have a copy, I’m adding it to my read next this week because I do hope to read it some time! I might try to get it at my library, but I doubt they’ll have a copy so soon, so.. I don’t know yet if I want to buy it, though I might.

More Happy Than Not seems like such a good read!! It’s on my TBR for this month and I thought, what better time than now? So yeah, there’s that. Not sure how it’s gonna turn out, but.. I guess I’ll find out!

I added Anna and the French Kiss kind of suddenly, but I decided it would be a good read for this week, what with Valentine’s Day and everything. XD Plus I’ve been so late on catching up with the Stephanie Perkins train—and yes, I must admit I’m curious to see what’s the big deal with Etienne St. Clair!

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments; what books on here have you read? What did you think of Passenger, if you read it (and if you haven’t, do you want to read it?) OH AND which book on my read next should I read first? I MUST KNOW THESE THINGS. XD Also am I the only one half-asleep at, like, 7:50 AM? Whoops, looks like I read past my bedtime last night.. #noregrets
Alright, I’m craving some chocolate right now and my subconscious tells me I must go and get ready for school, so, happy reading!! Again, feel free to leave your thoughts below, I’m always eager for a chat! ❤

WWW Wednesday #39 (February 3rd)

So.. I have reading progress (Yay!) and since it’s a Wednesday, you all know what it means! Time for WWW Wednesday a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words), where we answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Alrighty, let’s get on with it!

WWW Wednesday

Currently Reading

The Falling Kingdoms read-along is continuing onwards with the reading of the second book, Rebel Spring, which I started late last night! Not too far into it (unfortunately there’s something my body needs called sleep and it attacked me while I read this book..) but I hope to read more of it soon!

Recently Finished

I’ll Give You the Sun was such an amazing book! The book was SO BEAUTIFUL to read and I’m so glad I picked it up. The story completely pulled me in by the end of the novel—and don’t get me started on the writing! ❤

For the Record was a super fun book, for the record. (Sorry, had to do that.) I know it wasn’t the most amazing book for several readers, but I found it to be pretty entertaining (although it’s not without flaws) and I read it within a day.. so victory!

And finally, I also managed to knock Truthwitch off my read next that I planned last week, so… another victory dance!! Let us ALL do the dances. XD (Though on second thought, let’s not ’cause I’d probably humiliate myself dancing…but dance like nobody’s watching, right? Fine fine, I’ll stop. I don’t even know half the things I’m saying here.)

ANYWAY. Back to Truthwitch. Loved it! It was quality entertainment, and at the final pages, I just couldn’t put it down. Like, seriously. I was up way past my bedtime reading this. But psshhh, who cares about sleep anyway, right? So glad I picked this up!

Read Next

Passenger and Tonight the Streets Are Ours are back on my list! I’m kind of weary right now though towards Passenger..? Kind of? I don’t know, Truthwitch was soo good, and I really don’t want to set myself up towards disappointment since I’m hoping Passenger will be just as good. But what if it isn’t?? I’d throw a tantrum and yell at the book gods for not obeying my commands be pretty sad (or mad..?). BUT. I shall probably read it anyway. Along with Tonight the Streets Are Ours because contemporary! In between killing and action, yes, romance and happiness. Very good. Diversifying genres, am I right? (Though we all know that I always happen to go back to books about killing and action anyway, but hushhhh.)

I’ve also added Wolf by Wolf because I’ve heard SO MUCH about this one and have been meaning to read it…also because it’s set in Hitler’s time, so.. Coolness? And also just because. So yeah. Fingers crossed!

Also kind of the same situation for Not If I See You First apart from the fact that I have it on my ereader, instead of a physical copy (so.. CONVENIENCE!) as well as the fact that it seems like a good contemporary in between my heavy-duty fantasy reads. Don’t know if I’ll get around to reading it anytime soon, but OPTIMISM IS KEY. (You know, I could become an inspirational speaker one day… wait, nahhh I love my books and being an introvert too much for that, oops.)

Sorry for that more-than-usual rambling and weirdness! I hope you guys are all enjoying your Wednesdays (and hopefully my rambling wasn’t too embarrassing on my behalf); do let me know how your reading is going! Finding time? Not enough time? What did you think of Truthwitch?? What books on here have you read? Let us talk!! Because talking is good. (Except when you’re doing a test. Or something like that. Good lord, what is going on with me today?) Happy reading!! Hugs and lots of love from me. 🙂

WWW Wednesday #38 (January 27th)

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another lovely Wednesday! (I don’t know if it’s actually a lovely Wednesday for you, but just go with it, okay? :P) It’s time once again for a WWW Wednesday post, a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words), where you answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Join in if you want! Let’s get on with it, shall we?

I started this… 4 days ago? 5 days? I don’t know, but I’m nearly finished it? Kind of? I’ve loved it so far! I didn’t get that much time to read it, unfortunately, or else I probably would’ve been able to finish it sooner, but any progress is good progress! I can’t wait to finish it. ❤

Recently Finished

Threats of Sky and Sea was an interesting read, one that I relatively enjoyed! I’d like to continue with the second novel, but I think I’m going to take a break from it for now. Both this and the other book I read, Falling Kingdoms, includes Elemental magic, so I’m still trying to figure out how much that affected my reading experience… LOL. Since I’m going to be continuing the Falling Kingdoms series soon, I don’t want to continue this one at the same time!

Falling Kingdoms was a pretty good read too! It sets up potential for the rest of the series and like I mentioned, this deals with elemental magic—which was executed pretty well, I might add. Seeing though how both Threats of Sky and Sea and this dealt with elemental magic, it felt a bit repetitive and I’m kind of conflicted as to whether I actually enjoyed that aspect. But overall, pretty satisfying!

Passenger and Truthwitch are both on my list once again! I hope I’ll get the chance to read at least one of them, but I don’t know. Fingers crossed! Along with those I have Tonight the Streets Are Ours from last week as well, as an effort to not completely ignore the contemporary novels I’ve been meaning to read. 😉 For this same reasons I’ve also added For the Record, because why not? I have the ebook of it and I heard good things, so I’m hoping to give it a shot too.

Have any of you read I’ll Give You the Sun? Falling Kingdoms? I’d love to talk about them with you! 😀 How has your reading week been? Let me know whatever thoughts you may have below–and I know I say that often, but I mean it. LET’S DISCUSS!

Happy Wednesday! ❤

WWW Wednesday #37 (January 20th)

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday once again, and you know what that means! I’m trying to get back into the habit of CONSISTENTLY posting WWW Wednesdays, since, well, inconsistency bothers me to no end. XD Also because the thought of having to make another 4-week edition of this is not appealing whatsoever, lol.

By the way, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words), where you answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Feel free to join in if you want!

Now, without further ado, my reading progress for this week!

Currently Reading

I’m still continuing my read of Threats of Sky and Sea on my Kobo. I haven’t been getting much time to read these days so right now I’m pretty satisfied with my pace (kind of). Hopefully I’ll be finishing this up soon!

I have Falling Kingdoms in hardcover (IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL) and I just started it a couple of days ago (as part of a read-along hosted by 5 bloggers—Jess, Drew, TamaraJosie, and Lillie). I’m not too far into it, but so far it’s off to a promising start!

Recently Finished

The Sword of Summer was a great read! I read it super quickly, in the span of a day or two. A fun mythology-filled book that I definitely recommend—you can check out my review of it here, if you need more convincing. (Unashamed self-promotion, right here, LOL.)

I finally found the motivation to continue (and finish) You Were Here. YAY. I had been ‘reading’ (basically half-heartedly flipping pages) this book for around two weeks, and I was really starting to become fed up with my attitude! Haha. But I did manage to finish it this week, and it wasn’t half as bad as I’d thought! It actually turned out to be pretty good, so I’m happy. 😉

Read Next

Passenger is on my list again, as I didn’t get to it last week—not sure yet whether I’ll actually be reading it this week though!

Truthwitch is another very hyped fantasy (?) read that I’ve been looking forward to reading! I bought a copy of it, and I’m hoping it’s worth it. 😉

To take a break from all the fantasy-type reads, I’ve added I’ll Give You the Sun and Tonight the Streets are Ours as possible reading material. I own a physical copy of the former, and an ebook of the latter. It’s doubtful that I’ll be able to get to them both, but oh well.

So that’s how my reading went for the week! Tell me; how has your reading been going? Which one of these books have you read or want to read? Let me know, in the comments! ❤

Happy Wednesday!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

WWW Wednesday #36 (December 23rd, December 30, January 6th & January 13th)

Seriously, I just can’t keep up with anything anymore. SOB. It’s been 4 weeks since I last participated in this. 4 WEEKS. Gah. Inconsistency is driving me crazy. Oh, and lack of time. ANOTHER SOB. (And angry stomping.)

So today, as you can see I have another collective edition of WWW Wednesday, for the past 4 weeks! I swear I hadn’t meant to miss so many WWWs, but…I guess it happened anyway! Oops!

This book was a very unique read! I have to admit it was kind of hard for me at first to judge whether I liked it or not, because it was different from what I’m normally used to.

Basically all is the same as last week’s read next, save for the fact that I’ve decided to get rid of Invaded by Melissa Landers. Can’t really specify why, but I guess I kind of just lost interest..? Okay, fine, maybe not lost interest, but I’m just happy to leave it as is for now.

The Girlfriend Request was a pretty fast read, and a pretty cute one at that! Having said that, I must admit it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for me. There was a lot of raised eyebrows throughout the story, meaning there were just things that didn’t sit that well for me. But overall a cute contemporary!

The Rose Society… ah, I’m at a loss for words. Can I just say that it was incredibly stupid of me to not wait for the last book to be released?! Though at the same time I’m kind of scared… I just have this feeling that things aren’t going to end well—and I really hope I’m wrong. But The Rose Society was a great novel, I flew through it.

Ten Thousand Skies Above You is definitely next on my list for this upcoming week! Along with that I have also added You Were Here, which is an e-ARC I received via Netgalley. And on a spur of the moment decision, I have also added Threats of Sky and Sea, which is a fantasy novel that seems like it’ll be amazing! This is more of a maybe option, but I guess I’ll see!

I finally read it! Ink and Bone had been on my read next for SO LONG but I finally read it; and I’m happy to say that I liked it! I had previously read negative reviews on it and it kind of made me prepare for the worst… but thankfully it ended up being entertaining. Especially since I kind of adored the characters…! They were complex and diverse, which is almost always a good combo.

I swear, I was literally speechless after finishing Ten Thousand Skies Above You. My memory occasionally blanked out when it came to remembering the events of the first book, so it did take me a while to get my bearings. Even then there still were parts where I was like, whaaaaa? When did that happen again? But nonetheless, I greatly enjoyed this read.

I’ve decided to add Threats of Sky and Sea once again, because, why not? Passenger was released early this month, and it seems pretty interesting, so I’ve added that too, though chances are I won’t be reading it this week, unless I manage to get a copy of it. And finally I have added The Sword of Summer—I’ve been meaning to read this ever since it’s been released, hopefully I’ll get around to it.

Yep, I’m still reading You Were Here… and I’m not even near finishing it. I don’t know. For one thing, I haven’t been getting much time to read this, but apart from that, I’m not really feeling it. I don’t know, I can’t seem to muster up the level of enthusiasm I want, no, need, to actually get myself engaged in the book. And truthfully, I can’t decide yet whether it’s me or the book, either. Sigh. I’m planning on taking a break for now…Hopefully things will turn better later on!

Taking a break from You Were Here, I’ve decided to read Threats of Sky and Sea. It’s on my Kobo, which makes it convenient since these days I’m always either on the bus or at school.. both cases where I already have my hands full with heavy books. So far it’s pretty entertaining!

SNIFFLE. No, more like SOB. I didn’t manage to finish anything this week, unfortunately. (My goal of 200 books read this year is seemingly becoming more and more impossible…)

The Sword of Summer and Passenger are both on the list once again, but this week I’m also adding Falling Kingdoms because I’m going to start it January 18th, as part of a Falling Kingdoms series read-along (that’s being hosted by JosieJessDrewTamara and Lillie.) You can check out either or all of these blogs for the information post they all put up! If you could join, it would be great.

I haven’t been getting much time to read these past weeks, but I’m managing so far! How have your weeks been? Let me know what you think in the comments! Feel free to leave your link down below so I can come hop by your blog later. 😉 Have a great day, everyone!

WWW Wednesday #35 (December 16th…Well, 17th)

Hey everyone! I’ve been super busy this week, and unfortunately I hardly had the time to post! I was debating whether or not to skip this week’s WWW Wednesday, but I decided to do it, even though I’m late by a day. 😉

Feel free to join in on the meme (hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words) by answering the three questions below:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

This book is turning out to be much different than I expected, in a good way, though. While we’re at it, it’s quite different from other books as well, although I’m not quite sure whether that’s a good thing or not. But one thing’s for sure; it’s quite the insightful read!

Recently Finished

I finished The Young Elites a couple of days after my last WWW, I believe—and it was marvelous. A great start to a series that I know I will probably grow to love! Adelina’s character especially really stood out to me, and I had such an amazing time reading the book. ❤

I also managed to finally read The Weight of Feathers! Yay! *Brings out confetti* This book has been on my read next for quite some time, and I’m glad I got the chance to finally put it in the recently finished part of a WWW post. The Romeo and Juliet trope featured in this book really worked for the story, and I really enjoyed it!

Surprise, surprise, Ink and Bone is back on the list! I will actually be trying to make a conscious effort this time and actually get around to reading this, I promise. Fingers crossed!

Invaded is another pick I had from last week, and I’ve decided to add it on again this week, even though it’s unlikely I’ll be reading it. For one, I don’t even have a copy of it yet! So, yeah, unlikely. But I’m still interested!

I am absolutely itching to read The Rose Society! I got a copy of it recently and I would’ve been gobbling it up immediately, if it weren’t for the fact that I’m trying really hard to finish my review of The Young Elites first…

Aaaaaaaand, last but not least, Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray is on my list, the sequel to A Thousand Pieces of You—AKA the books with the marvelously stunning covers. I mentioned in one of my recent tags, I believe, that reading this book was on my bucket list. Well, here’s hoping I’ll be crossing this item off soon!

Sorry I’m so late on this post guys, and for being such an absentee blogger. Fortunately, my winter break starts soon, which hopefully will mean more consistency and more time on my hands for blogging. 😉

Feel free to tell me how your reading has been going in the comments below! Or you can just say hi, I’m cool with that too. I’ve felt like I haven’t talked to you all in FOREVER, so I’d love any chance to say hello. LOL. ❤ I love you guys all, hugs!

WWW Wednesday #34 (November 25, December 2nd & December 9th)

Hello everyone! I’ve missed WWW Wednesday the past couple of weeks, so I’ve decided to make a collective edition of WWW Wednesday this week to update my reading status! Because despite being MIA on the blog, I actually have been managing to find time to read in between my studies. So this week’s post is kind of going to be in a different format than usual, obviously because it’s going to be showing off 3 weeks (I think) worth of reading material. Fingers crossed it doesn’t become too confusing!

Winter proved to be a lengthy but worthwhile read! It was definitely a very well-written ending, and I was quite satisfied with it.

Court of Fives was not a planned read whatsoever, but as I got a copy of it from the library, I thought, why not? It too, proved to be a worthwhile read, and I can’t wait for the sequel—which unfortunately is being released next year. *Sigh*

I finished the majority of Unspoken over the week of the 25th, and so I only had a little bit left when I finished it this week. I absolutely loved it! It is definitely one of the better endings of a series, and I had almost no complaints. Such a great book!

Despite the size of For Darkness Shows the Stars, I actually managed to finish this relatively quickly, if I recall correctly! It’s another one of my library books—as you can tell, I kind of went all out at the library—and it proved to be a great read. It wasn’t entirely what I expected in some aspects, but I really enjoyed it all the same.

I managed to finish Rebel Belle this week as well, which was a thoroughly entertaining read, despite the small little rough spots it had! This was my first Rachel Hawkins book, but I will definitely be reading more from her.

The Weight of Feathers and Ink & Bone are selections on my read next once again—surprise, surprise—but I have also decided to add The Young Elites to the list on a spur-of-the-moment decision! It’s been on my shelf long enough.

Currently Reading

So this week I am in the middle of reading The Young Elites! So far it’s really entertaining, but although I’m a bit more than half through it, it still somehow feels like I’m at the beginning? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me and my odd brain. But so far, me likey! 😉

Recently Finished

I finished The Dead House! It was a pretty entertaining read, though I wouldn’t say I found it to be as scary as some readers have found it to be… maybe that’s just me? It was a great book to read at night, though, for a little creepy story.

Alienated is another one of my library books, one that I hadn’t necessarily planned to finish… but somehow ended up reading and finishing anyway, Not that I regret reading it or anything. I really liked it, even if it might’ve not been necessarily the best written book out there. It’s a great romance novel with sci-fi elements, for those of you who are interested!

Read Next

The Weight of Feathers is the first book on my list this week! I will definitely be picking this up as soon as possible.

Ink and Bone is on my list again, although I’m not sure if I’ll be getting around to reading it…come on, you guys can’t say you’re surprised. I’ve been putting off reading this for too long already.

Invaded is the sequel to Alienated, which I finished reading this past week. I have yet to get a copy of Invaded, but I hope I’ll be able to get one soon!

And finally, I have added The Rose Society to my list as well! I don’t have a copy of this yet, because I’m planning on buying it (but haven’t gotten a chance yet) but I’m planning on reading it soon after I finish The Young Elites.

So, how has your week gone by? I’m surprised I actually managed to get this much reading done, or any reading at all, to be honest. I was absolutely swamped with schoolwork, but somehow I managed! And thankfully I am (so far) managing to blog a bit too. I’ve missed blogging so much! But you guys don’t need to hear all my gushing and apologies right now. XD What do you think of my reading choices? What are you reading this week? Let me know whatever thoughts you may have below, because I’d love to hear them! ❤ And as always, feel free to put your WWW down below. Happy Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday #33 (November 18th, 2015)

Hello everyone! I’m kind of late to the party with this week’s WWW Wednesday, as the day is basically over, but as this is kind of my little record of the books I’ve been reading (since I’ve been MIA on Goodreads), I decided to do it anyway!

Feel free to join in on the meme (hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words) by answering the three questions below:

Unfortunately I started pretty late with this due to time reasons so I’m not too far into it, but I’m loving Winter so far! I really wish I didn’t have to take so much time on school-related things, but oh well. Can’t wait to read more of Winter and see what else is held in store for me!

Surprisingly, I managed to finish A Madness So Discreet! Yay! I’m so glad I decided to read this, it was really worth the hype for me and it was a super good read! If any of you are on the fence about reading it, well, you have my recommendation. (Even if that doesn’t mean much to you… :P)

And I also finished Eternal this week! I didn’t think I’d be able to fit in both this and A Madness So Discreet this week, but I did so I’m glad about that! It was great re-reading Eternal.

Read Next

Now that I finished my re-read of Eternal, I’m ready to go ahead and finish off the trilogy with the long-awaited third book Unspoken! Aaaah I’m super excited!

I didn’t get to start The Weight of Feathers this week, but it’s on the list and I’m hoping I’ll be able to get to it soon!

The Dead House is also still on the list, and although I doubt I’ll be getting to this one, my fingers are crossed.

Surprise surprise, Ink and Bone is still on my list! I swear guys, I will read this. Someday…!

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! I know it’s pretty late, but feel free to link your WWW anyway because I’d still love to come check it out! ❤ Let me know any thoughts you may have down below!

Hugs and Happy reading!
