A book I recently finished, The Night Circus was an interesting book that had plenty of interesting quote-worthy passages and I figured I’d use one of its quotes that kind of stuck out to me.

WWW Wednesday #20 (August 19)

Hello bookworms! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means—it’s time for WWW Wednesday! A meme formerly hosted by MizB @ Should be Reading and now hosted by Sam @Taking on a World of Words, all you have to do to join in is answer three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

I’m currently reading 2 books; The Night Circus and Joyride. I’m not that far into either of them, but I am enjoying them so far! The Night Circus has a very interesting premise and I’m finding Joyride to be a cute novel. I’m glad to see that although both stories are of different genres, I’m finding equal interest in both. 🙂

Recently Finished

I have finished 5 books over the course of this week, well, technically 3 because I finished Cross My Heart and Hope to Die (Lying Game #5) exactly a week ago (so I suppose it doesn’t really count as ‘recently’ finished) and True Lies is a novella. But we’ll ignore that, shall we? Cross My Heart and Hope to Die and True Lies were both very entertaining reads, and I’m looking forward to reading the last book in the Lying Game series.

The Sister Pact was an emotional story that I also enjoyed, and same goes for Until We Meet Again. I’ll be posting reviews later on but I really enjoyed them both. Confess is the second Colleen Hoover book I’ve read (the first being Ugly Love) and it was great. I enjoyed it more than Ugly Love, mostly because the plot and characters was more appealing to me. I’m so glad I decided to read more CoHo books, because Confess was a great one!

Read Next

My read next is actually pretty uncertain. The one book I’m really sure on is Seven Minutes in Heaven (since it’s the last book in a series) but other than that, I’m quite unsure. City of Fae had been on my ‘Read next’ last week, but right now I’m not exactly in the mood to read it, although I might later on this week. The Kiss of Deception and Red Queen are both super-hyped books that I’m excited to read, but at the same time I don’t want to read them because I don’t want to be disappointed, you know? I’m sure we’ve all been there at some point. Love Letters to the Dead is one of the books I’ve hauled in 2015, I think in… June? And it seems like a very interesting (but sad?) story, so I might go with that. But again, I’m not sure. The Start of Me and You also seems like a good one. But I don’t know. You see? I’m a mess. XD Being completely honest here: If any of you have any suggestions of which one to go with first, I’d be super grateful ’cause I’m stumped!

So that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! What books have you been reading, will read, etc? Do you have any suggestions for which book I should go with next, from my list? (Because I’m quite desperate. haha.) Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you! ❤

Hope you have a wondrous Wednesday! (See that awesome alliteration there? :P)

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover | Book Review

(Stand-Alone)

Published: August 5th 2014

Synopsis:

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I’ve heard so much about this book in the past couple of months. I’ve read so many glowing reviews on this, talking about how emotionally heartbreaking this book is. How much it impacted them. Naturally, I was curious to see what exactly the hype is all about. And so I finally read it!

Quick Summary

When Tate Collins moves into her brother’s apartment, she finds herself immediately attracted to her brother’s friend and neighbor, Miles Archer, and soon finds out he’s attracted to her as well. As a result, they get into a deal to have a no-love, sex-only relationship. Miles only has two rules for Tate: Not to ask about his past or expect a future. But when rules are broken, things get ugly.Read More »

Top 10 Tuesday #14 (July 14): Top Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession

Hello everyone! It’s time for a Top Ten Tuesday, a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is: Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession, which can be bought, library, or review copy. So here they are, in no particular order!

Illusionarium_bookcover1. Illusionarium by Heather Dixon (library e-book)

I don’t think I’m going to be able to read this one, but I downloaded it from the library anyway. This book had been one of the hyped books in May so I’m curious to see what it’s like.

2. Mia and the Bad Boy by Lisa Burstein (bought e-book)Mia and the Bad Boy_bookcover

This was on sale, and I’ve been meaning to read it, so, I thought, why not? It seems like a good romance novel.

Spellbinder_bookcover3. Spellbinder by C.C. Hunter (bought e-book)

I love C.C. Hunter’s Shadow Falls and Shadow Falls: After Dark series, and this is a novella in the POV of one of the side characters, so I really wanted to read this! I believe it was released on June 30th, so this is a pretty late download for me, but it kind of slipped my mind. But I have it now, so yay!

4. Beyond the Veil by Pippa DaCosta (free e-book)Beyond the Veil_bookcover

This is one of my Bookbub downloads (most of you know how dangerous it is for TBRs!) and since I have City of Fae by the same author, I thought it would be a good idea to get one of her other books too. Plus, it was free, so…

5. The Lying Game by Sara Shepard #3-6 (bought hardcovers)

This series is addicting! I had to buy the rest of the books in the series. (You can check out my review on the first book here.)

Maybe Someday_bookcover6. Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover (bought paperback)

I really enjoyed Ugly Love (but not exactly as much as I hoped) and I want to give a try to CoHo’s other books. I’ve heard great things about this one, so when I saw this one on sale, I chose to buy it! ( I’ve heard great things about all her books though, so I guess I should keep my expectations low…

7. Confess by Colleen Hoover (bought paperback)Confess_bookcover

Another Colleen Hoover book that I’ve heard lots about. I’m not sure what exactly to expect anymore, because I don’t want to hope too high and be met with disappointment, but I guess I’ll just have to read it to see!

Never Never_bookcover Never Never Part 2_bookcover8. Never Never Books 1 & 2 by Colleen Hoover

And more Colleen Hoover books! Again, same reason for the other two books, and also because it had this wicked deal that got me both books in the Never Never duology(?)/trilogy(?) for a low price.

9. You’re the One that I Want by Giovanna Fletcher (bought paperback)You're the One that I Want_bookcover

I’ve been meaning to pick up some of Giovanna Fletcher’s books, and this seemed like a good place to start!

I Hunt Killers_bookcover10. I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga (bought paperback)

This seems like an awesome book! Plus I’ve read great reviews on it, so when I saw it on sale in the bookstore, I grabbed it up!

So these are some of the most recent books that I recently hauled. What books have you recently gotten? Do you own any of these books? Tell me in the comments below or link your post!

Have a great Tuesday!

That’s What HE Said Thursday #13 (July 09)

Hello! This is going to be a quick post, just saying. I have reviews to work on and books to read, peoples! 🙂 Anyway, it is time for another That’s What HE Said Thursday post, a meme hosted by Chapter Break. Today I’m going to be featuring a quote from Miles, of Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I usually don’t feature books twice in a week (I used Ugly Love in this week’s Teaser Tuesday) but I am this time simply because this is the closest book to me at the moment, ha ha. (#Laziness) Anyway, on to it:

“I just don’t like being gone so much, especially knowing you’re right across the hall from where I live. It makes me want to be home all the time.”

What do you think of this little quote? Let me know in the comments below!

Got to go now, bookworms, so happy reading! Hopefully I’ll be back later with a review. 😉

Teaser Tuesday #13 (July 07): Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Hello! Time for another teaser tuesday post! This meme is hosted by A Daily Rhythm.

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) (I’m doing one) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I’m currently reading a lot of books (5 to be exact) and it would be too much trouble for me to provide a teaser from each, so I’ll just be featuring a teaser from one of the books; Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

Ugly Love_bookcover“Do you?” he asks.
“Do I what?”
“Smoke.”
I shake my head. “Nope.”
“Good,” he says. We stare at the candy a little bit longer. He turns to face me, and I glance up at him. “Do you even want any candy, Tate?”
“Nope.”
He laughs. “Then I guess we should get back to the car.”
I agree with him, but neither of us moves.
He reaches down to my hand and touches it so softly it’s as if he’s aware he’s made of lava and I’m not. He grips two of my fingers, not even coming close to holding my entire hand, and give them a soft tug.

What do you think of this teaser? Have you read this book? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy reading!

Top 10 Tuesday #13 (July 07): Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read

Hello fellow bookworms! I’m back from my unofficial hiatus (you might’ve noticed I haven’t been interacting as much on my blog or on other blogs) with a Top Ten Tuesday post. This is a popular meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, today’s topic is ten hyped books I’ve never read. Now, I can basically use my list for books I want to read this summer, since those books are pretty hyped up (like We Were Liars, Extraordinary Means, etc.)—you can check out that list here—but I’m going to make another list, since heaven knows my list of to-read hyped books is endless! Book titles link to Goodreads, and you can hover over the cover to read the synopsis from Goodreads. So, in no particular order:

The Kiss of Deception_bookcover1. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

I really want to read this! Especially since the second book, The Heart of Betrayal, releases today. It just seems so interesting!

2. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab A Darker Shade final for Irene

Or anything by this author, like Vicious. I have A Darker Shade of Magic currently waiting on my shelf and I’ve heard such great things about it that I’m just itching to get to it.

The Wrath and the Dawn_bookcover3. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I really hope I can read this book this month. Ever since it’s been released (and before!) I’ve heard so many things and it seems like a great book.

4. Gone Girl by Gillian FlynnGone Girl_bookcover

Another hyped up book! It also has a movie if I’m not mistaken, so I really want to read this to see what the hype is all about and then watch the movie. 😉

The Girl on the Train_bookcover5. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

I’m trying not to sound too repetitive, but this book seems great! I’ve heard lots about it and it seems like a very intriguing thriller.

6. Red Queen by Victoria AveyardRed Queen_bookcover

I have my fingers crossed to read this book this month! If I can get past my review copies and other books, I will definitely be making time for this one. The cover, the synopsis, and all the great reviews has me intrigued!

Anna & the French Kiss_bookcover27. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Don’t kill me! I haven’t read this book or the series, BUT I do plan on reading it. Someday.

8. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (or anything Colleen Hoover, really.)Ugly Love_bookcover

This book has been on my TBR for a while now, and I’m actually currently reading it! It still counts for this list, since I just started it today and am only at the beginning of it. 🙂 This book has been really hyped up, well, actually, basically all of Colleen Hoover’s books have been hyped up. So yeah.

A Game of Thrones_bookcover9. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

This is the first in a series, and has a TV show based off of it. To be honest, I’m not that interested in these books at this moment, but I will probably still read the series one day. It’s pretty hyped up, and what can I say? I like to know what the hype is all about. 😉

10. Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson (or Since You’ve Been Gone & Second Chance Summer)Amy & Roger's Epic Detour_bookcover

Morgan Matson’s books have been hyped up as well (obviously, since she’s on this list) and the most notable books I know that have been hyped up (I’m not sure whether or not she has other books written aside from these three, but oh well) are Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, Since You’ve Been Gone and Second Chance Summer. I really want to read all three of these!

Oh! I also forgot to add The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. I really want to read this one, I’ve heard wonderful things! And I also want to check out the movie, too.

The Book Thief_bookcover

So that’s it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! What hyped up books have you never read? Do we share any in common? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments below or feel free to link your post!

Top 10 Tuesday #7 (May 26): Top Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer

Top 1o Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is top ten books that I plan to have in my beach bag this summer/great beach reads. I’ll be going with the former option, as I have way more beachy reads that I plan to read this summer than I have already read. 😀 (All book titles link to Goodreads)

P.S I Still Love You_bookcover1. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

No-brainer! After the heart-wrenching cliffhanger in the previous book To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I’m dying to read this, and it just got released today. Probably going to get it on my upcoming book haul. 🙂

2. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan MatsonSince You've Been Gone_bookcover

I’ve been hearing a lot about this book, and it just screams ‘summer’ to me. How can I not bring this along in my beach bag?

Ugly Love_bookcover3.  Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Or any book by Colleen Hoover, really. I haven’t read any books by Colleen Hoover yet, so it doesn’t necesarily matter to me which book of hers will be packed!

4. On the Fence by Kasie WestOn the Fence

I already read this, but I really want to read this again. It was just such a sweet book, I can’t resist!

P.S I Love You_bookcover5. P.S I Love You by Cecelia Ahern

Untitled-49. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi

Another fun, light read I will definitely pack in my beach bag.

10. Wait For You by J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout)Wait For You_bookcover

Jennifer Armentrout (writing as J. Lynn) is one of my favorite authors, and I can’t wait to read this New-Adult Contemporary Romance novel of hers, the first in the Wait For You series.

Honourable mentions: Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel, Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

Of course, there are other books (like ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas) that I’m going to be reading this summer, but these are the books I’ll be reading beach-wise, the fun, light, contemporary books.

So that’s it for this week’s Top 10 Tuesday! What are you planning on bringing along for the beach? Or what are you planning on reading this summer? Let me know in the comments below!
