12 Days of Christmas | BOOK TAG

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! ‚̧ It is finally Christmas, and to get into the spirit, I found the perfect book tag that I happened to be tagged in by Summer @ XingSings. Thank you so much! Guys, you should seriously go visit her blog! It’s lovely and Summer is simply wonderful. So go! Give her some love. ūüôā

And now, without further ado… the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag!

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

You guys all know how terrible I am with these kind of questions! Truly, I can’t think of simply one book for this question—I CAN’T CHOOSE BETWEEN MY (non-existant) CHILDREN.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

Technically speaking it doesn’t make sense to have more than one ‘one true pairing’/OTP, because, well, you know, it’s your ONE true pairing… but you guys all know life would not be the same without more than one OTP—THERE ARE JUST SO MANY CUTE COUPLES. Not that I’m complaining.

BUT. Point is, we would be here until next Christmas¬†if I tried to name all of my OTPs, so I’ll just go with one of the (more recent? I don’t even know anymore, all I know is that I love it)—Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I HAVEN’T FANGIRLED ENOUGH ABOUT THIS BOOK. Seriously, Kaz and Inej are so perfect together!! ‚̧

Six of Crows

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I think by now I’ve spotlighted this trilogy in a lot of my tags, but I’ve decided to go with it once again, because it is simply fabulous—and I know most of you will agree! The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare is absolutely amazing, and even though I’m pretty biased by my love of anything Cassandra Clare, I kid you not when I tell you that. A beautiful love triangle, an intricate plot set in the Victorian Era. What more can you ask for?

TID trilogy

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

The numbers are endless! There are so many series I’ve read and loved, but this time I’m choosing the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. This epic fantasy series is just… gosh, I have no words. Seriously, I’m at a loss as what to say because you can’t just describe this series with a couple of words! ūüėČ It’s really something. ‚̧

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

Oh my gosh this answer came immediately to me! (Although there were many for me to choose from, don’t get me wrong, there are so many great villains/antagonists out there.) I’m going to go with Levana from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I absolutely loved how complex¬†(albeit disturbing) her character is, and she really stood out to me.

Fairest

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, hands down! Seriously, the HP world is vast, imaginative and simply wonderful—I can’t be the only one still waiting for my Hogwarts letter, right? ūüėõ

Harry Potter series

ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

To be honest I can’t really think of one off the top of my head..! I’ll get back to this one… maybe… one day.

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Eh…I’m trying to think of something other than Harry Potter… but not really succeeding. I mean, there were feasts, and there’s Butterbeer, so yeah. I had been attempting to choose different answers for each question, but what can I do?

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

Ooh, this one’s hard—there’s simply so many too choose from! I’m tempted to name off a couple of the characters in Six of Crows, but to change up my answers a bit more I’m going to go with Adelina from The Young Elites by Marie Lu. She may not be a perfect angel, and her thoughts and actions are not always with the most innocent of intentions, but it is undeniable that she is one kickass character!

The Young Elites

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.

How about your favourite leading lad?

Agh. This one’s kind of hard to choose! But I’m going to go with Percy from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I would also say Leo from the spinoff series Heroes of Olympus, but since I’ve spent more time with Percy, I’ll go with him. (They’re both great though!) Percy will always be remembered! (AKA Logan Lerman

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

I haven’t mentioned this book much (or at all) in my book tags, but it’s perfect for this question! Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell features two characters who bond over listening to music (and reading comics). Just look at the cover! Uh, yeah, it’s kind of telling, don’t you think?

Eleanor & Park

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

Haha nope! No way can I answer this question. I’ve reached my quota of choosing just one book for these questions, LOL. I’m planning on making a post with my favourite reads of 2015 though, so if you’re interested be sure to look out for that!

Once again, Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you guys are all having (or have had) a wonderful Christmas, or a wonderful holiday/celebration (in case you celebrate something else)! Feel free to tell me whatever thoughts you may have below. ūüėČ I’m not tagging anyone for this, but if you want to do it, let me know and I’d love to tag you!! ‚̧

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

Book Snacks: How it all began…

My blog story is pretty boring, to be honest. You can skip it if you want, I won’t be offended. But here’s how it goes.

I got the idea to create this blog after remembering how much I enjoyed blogging (as an English writing assignment) back in middle school. Back then the blog wasn’t only about books, it was on a variety of topics and I shared it with several other students. I used to write really long reviews and had lots of fun doing so, I might add, and so for several years I contemplated the idea of creating a book blog for writing reviews.

Then out-of-the-blue, sometime in February this year, I decided to create this¬†blog. I don’t know how a blogging assignment from back, in, like Grade 7, managed to get into my head while in high school, but it did, and so that’s how Book Snacks was born!¬†I only started posting things near the end of March though.

As for where the name came from, there’s not much to it other than the fact that I liked how it sounded… LOL. I was just brainstorming names one day, after reading a book, and I just happened to have thought of it. I had coincidentally also been eating a snack too, so I guess it was fate for my book blog to be named Book Snacks!

I can’t imagine ever stopping blogging, if I had to, I might post less frequently, but I definitely don’t plan on ever stopping.¬†Blogging is a huge part of my life, definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. I honestly feel so close to all of you bloggers out there! You know, one time, I finished a book, and I was like, oh my god, so and so blogger would love this! As if that was a friend I saw everyday. And I guess, in some ways, it’s true. I mean, I don’t see any of you guys in person, but I do communicate and chat with a lot of you often, and I definitely consider you guys my friends. ūüôā It has been such a great time for me making new friends and fangirling over books with all of you many¬†bloggers!

My Advice

Now, keep in mind I’m still technically a newbie blogger, considering how I’ve only been blogging for a little bit. But here’s some advice I would offer:

  • Blog for yourself. One of the most important piece of advice anyone could ever give you! It doesn’t matter what others are saying, how many followers you have, or whatever, just as long as you blog what you want to blog about, and enjoy it.
  • Don’t care about the numbers. It’s hard not to get down when we have no views, or very few likes and followers, but that’s not important. Just keep blogging, everything else will follow, bit by bit.
  • Interact with other blogs/bloggers. Comment, like and follow other blogs! Not only does that bring other to your blog in return, it keeps you connected to the blogging community and helps to make friends too!
  • Participate in memes. You may have noticed I participate in weekly bookish memes, like Top Ten Tuesday. Participating in memes can take you to other blogs with the same interests as you, as well as bring other bloggers to your blog. Not to mention they’re lots of fun!
  • Write what you’re passionate about.¬†If you don’t enjoy whatever you write about, then you’re not going to write your best, and that’s not going to make anyone happy. If you like books, write about books. If you like anime, write about anime. If you like both, write about both. There’s always going to be someone who feels the same way as you and will enjoy your work. Just as long as you put the effort to write about something you enjoy.
  • Explore your creative side. Whether that’s found in your blog posts, your blog design, or in the pictures you use and graphics you create. Blogging is great for finding your sense of creativity, something we all have deep inside.
  • Follow and read other blogs.¬†Often you’ll find great posts, and some ideas for your own posts as well!
  • Don’t be afraid to play around with your blog’s look. If you’re unsatisfied with your blog theme and visuals, or want to change it up, feel free to do so! Do what feels right for you.
  • Most of all, have fun. Blogging isn’t supposed to be work. It can be, though, and that’s what you want to avoid. If ever you’re feeling depressed or pressured because of blogging, take a break! Relax. And once you’re good with everything, come back and simply enjoy yourself.
