12 Days of Christmas | BOOK TAG

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! ❤ It is finally Christmas, and to get into the spirit, I found the perfect book tag that I happened to be tagged in by Summer @ XingSings. Thank you so much! Guys, you should seriously go visit her blog! It’s lovely and Summer is simply wonderful. So go! Give her some love. 🙂

And now, without further ado… the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag!

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

You guys all know how terrible I am with these kind of questions! Truly, I can’t think of simply one book for this question—I CAN’T CHOOSE BETWEEN MY (non-existant) CHILDREN.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

Technically speaking it doesn’t make sense to have more than one ‘one true pairing’/OTP, because, well, you know, it’s your ONE true pairing… but you guys all know life would not be the same without more than one OTP—THERE ARE JUST SO MANY CUTE COUPLES. Not that I’m complaining.

BUT. Point is, we would be here until next Christmas if I tried to name all of my OTPs, so I’ll just go with one of the (more recent? I don’t even know anymore, all I know is that I love it)—Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I HAVEN’T FANGIRLED ENOUGH ABOUT THIS BOOK. Seriously, Kaz and Inej are so perfect together!! ❤

Six of Crows

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I think by now I’ve spotlighted this trilogy in a lot of my tags, but I’ve decided to go with it once again, because it is simply fabulous—and I know most of you will agree! The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare is absolutely amazing, and even though I’m pretty biased by my love of anything Cassandra Clare, I kid you not when I tell you that. A beautiful love triangle, an intricate plot set in the Victorian Era. What more can you ask for?

TID trilogy

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

The numbers are endless! There are so many series I’ve read and loved, but this time I’m choosing the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. This epic fantasy series is just… gosh, I have no words. Seriously, I’m at a loss as what to say because you can’t just describe this series with a couple of words! 😉 It’s really something. ❤

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

Oh my gosh this answer came immediately to me! (Although there were many for me to choose from, don’t get me wrong, there are so many great villains/antagonists out there.) I’m going to go with Levana from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I absolutely loved how complex (albeit disturbing) her character is, and she really stood out to me.

Fairest

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, hands down! Seriously, the HP world is vast, imaginative and simply wonderful—I can’t be the only one still waiting for my Hogwarts letter, right? 😛

Harry Potter series

ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

To be honest I can’t really think of one off the top of my head..! I’ll get back to this one… maybe… one day.

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Eh…I’m trying to think of something other than Harry Potter… but not really succeeding. I mean, there were feasts, and there’s Butterbeer, so yeah. I had been attempting to choose different answers for each question, but what can I do?

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

Ooh, this one’s hard—there’s simply so many too choose from! I’m tempted to name off a couple of the characters in Six of Crows, but to change up my answers a bit more I’m going to go with Adelina from The Young Elites by Marie Lu. She may not be a perfect angel, and her thoughts and actions are not always with the most innocent of intentions, but it is undeniable that she is one kickass character!

The Young Elites

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.

How about your favourite leading lad?

Agh. This one’s kind of hard to choose! But I’m going to go with Percy from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I would also say Leo from the spinoff series Heroes of Olympus, but since I’ve spent more time with Percy, I’ll go with him. (They’re both great though!) Percy will always be remembered! (AKA Logan Lerman

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

I haven’t mentioned this book much (or at all) in my book tags, but it’s perfect for this question! Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell features two characters who bond over listening to music (and reading comics). Just look at the cover! Uh, yeah, it’s kind of telling, don’t you think?

Eleanor & Park

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

Haha nope! No way can I answer this question. I’ve reached my quota of choosing just one book for these questions, LOL. I’m planning on making a post with my favourite reads of 2015 though, so if you’re interested be sure to look out for that!

Once again, Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you guys are all having (or have had) a wonderful Christmas, or a wonderful holiday/celebration (in case you celebrate something else)! Feel free to tell me whatever thoughts you may have below. 😉 I’m not tagging anyone for this, but if you want to do it, let me know and I’d love to tag you!! ❤

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Until the Next Meal, Analee

It’s Christmas Eve! | Book Travelling Thursdays #2 (December 24th, 2015)

Hello! Can you believe it’s already Christmas Eve?! It’s been a MAJOR unfestive time here on my blog—I’M SO SORRY GUYS. I swear, everything has simply been flying by and I’ve hardly had the time to post anything! *SOB* But I’m back with a more Christmas-themed post with this week’s Book Travelling Thursday (a meme created by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog)!

Book Traveling Thursday2How it Works:

1. Choose a book that fits with the theme of the week (which are listed per month on the Book Travelling Thursdays Goodreads group).

2. Include a short explanation as to why you chose the book.

3. Pick out different cover editions of your book: the original cover, the cover from your country, your favourite cover, and your least favourite cover.

So, this week’s topic || It’s Christmas Eve!! Choose a book that occurs in Christmas/Holiday season.

There’s actually not a lot of books I could really think of for this one! I did consider several other books, but finally I’ve chosen to go with Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. Although it may not be a favourite of everyone around, it was still a relatively good read, and it takes place during the holiday season… so let’s commence our judgement of its book covers!

Original Cover + Cover from my Country

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares

Yay, at least the original cover isn’t too painful to look at. As far as covers go, this one is a pretty decent one, no?

Favourite Covers

Okay, so I’m not 100% sure, but as far as I understand, the first cover is the cover from Australia! At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but as I continue to look at it, it’s growing on me! I don’t know, maybe I’m just being odd, but this cover seems to fit the story really well, and plus, I like the font they used for the title. 😉

Next up is the cover from England! This is another one that grew on me. The font, the color, and the design is all very simple and minimalist, but has a really good effect! I can’t be the only one who likes it, right…?

And lastly, we have another cover which I am assuming is from the U.S. (but I’m not completely sure). I love the font on this one! There’s just something about it that really clicks with me. The colors they used are also great; I wouldn’t mind having this cover on my shelf!

Least Favourite Covers

Boy, does this book have its fair share of ugly covers! I mean, some of these aren’t so bad, but they’re definitely not my favourites…

The first two covers are German covers, if I’m not mistaken. The first one might not have been that bad, but then there’s something about it that just doesn’t sit with me that well. The second one is definitely worse, though I can’t exactly pinpoint why..? DON’T QUESTION ME. Lol. But yeah. Germany, better amp up your covers next time!

The next cover would be Sweden‘s, as far as I know. And oh boy… must I explain myself on this one? I’m sorry, it just doesn’t look pretty. (Yes, that’s the first thing I note. XD) Whyyyyyyy.

After that… (unfortunately there’s a pretty long list of ugly covers for this book) we have the Romanian cover. If you’ve read the book, you know how unsuitable this cover is! It doesn’t have any hint of what this book is really about. WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN.

Can you guess what the next one is? It’s the… Russian cover! Not only are the faces on the cover completely unnecessary, it just doesn’t suit the book at all. And nope, it doesn’t look pretty to me either! The struggle is real—why can’t all book covers be universally beautiful?! Russia, why did you do this?

And lastly (though I bet there are a lot more I could’ve put here) we have the Spanish cover. To me, this basically is trying to imitate the style of the original cover—but failing drastically. And what’s up with the cartoon-ish character (Lily, I presume) at the side? Blech.

I hope you guys are all having a wonderful Christmas Eve! I’ve been a total Grinch on this blog as per Christmas posts are concerned, so I hope this at least partially makes up for it. 😉 Do let me know your thoughts on this book and/or its covers! Do you agree with me? Which cover is your favourite? Hugs, and Merry Christmas!! ❤

Until the Next Meal, Analee

‘Tis the Season | BOOK TAG

Hello my friends! It’s the month of December (obviously) and you all know it’s a month of festivities and of course, holidays and Christmas. So I’m here today with a holiday-themed tag that I’ve been spotting around the blogosphere here and there. I was tagged by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much; thank you so much, lovely! If you’re not already following this wonderful lady, what are you waiting for? (Not my wrath, I hope. I can be very fierce when I want to be. Just kidding! Kind of. :P) But yes, point is, you should go check out Catia’s blog right away, for she is absolutely lovely and her blog is fabulous. Just take my word for it—or even better, find out for yourself!

Alright, so… shall we go on to the tag? Why yes, we shall. 😉

1. Do you have a favorite winter read?

Hmm… I think I’m going to have to go with Catia on this one and choose My True Love Gave To Me by various authors, a collection of short stories which I find to be perfect for this time of year. Which reminds me, better get my review up for that sometime this month! I read it earlier this year, but have been waiting to post the review for the perfect time.

My True Love Gave to Me

2. Find a book with blue on the cover!

Why only oneeeeee?! It was a tough choice—seriously, there are a lot more covers with blue on the cover than I thought there would be—but I finally decided to go with Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s not fully blue, but I felt like it went well with the whole winter season that is linked with the month of December. 😉

Shiver

3. Find a book you’d use as the star on a Christmas tree!

I’m not sure if we’re supposed to have read the book for this question…? But in any case, I’m going with a book on my TBR; The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider! Except for the blue of the title, the cover is a really bright yellow, and even though I don’t know if the story within its pages reflect that, but it seems to me that this is a suitable choice! I actually currently have a copy of this from the library, and I am planning on reading it sometime soon (hopefully).

The Beginning of Everything

4. Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a winter vacation!

I’m trying to be creative and not come up with the answer you guys should all know is coming, but of course I fail; a trip to Hogsmeade would be wonderful for a vacation…and maybe while we’re at it, a trip to Hogwarts! 😛 It sounds like the perfect place to me; Butterbeer and wizard sweets, inns and all sorts of fun. What’s not to like?

Hogsmeade

5. Pick one fictional character you’d take with you on your winter vacation!

I’ve held in my angsty dilemma so far, but…ALL THESE ‘ONE’ QUESTIONS WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME. I swear, I know they will be. You guys all know by now how terrible I am with choosing only one thing as an answer, right? I kind of rant about this for basically any book tag I do because THEY NEVER WANT MORE THAN ONE. Whyyyyyyy. Okay, I’m sorry. I’ve managed to do so so far, so…*Deep breath* I don’t suppose I could bring along my whole list of book boyfriends, now can I? (Although, now that I think of it, I doubt that would go over too well between all the guys…)

Carswell Thorne

Alright, so I’ve decided to go with Captain Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles series! It was hard to choose, I’m telling you, but finally I thought, why not? Captain Thorne ensnared me with his boyish charms and also, he’s a lot of fun to have around! My winter vacation would definitely not be boring, that’s for sure.

6. Name one book on your wish list this year!

Oh god. *Pulls out fancy scroll that goes all the way to the ground* The agony. THE AGONY.

Alright, does… “Nearly every book on my TBR” count as an answer? Because I swear that’s all I have. LOL, okay fine, I’ll be serious. I’m going to go with Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare! It releases sometime this upcoming year—yay!! I know some people are rolling their eyes, like, “Geez, another Shadowhunter-themed book?” but not me! I’d gobble up basically anything Clare writes, and I have no complaints if it has to do with Shadowhunters. 😉

Lady Midnight

7. Favorite holiday drink, treat, & movie?

Ah, the real deal! The most important questions here. Okay, folks. Let’s do this.

Favorite holiday drink: Hot chocolate! Yep, I’m a pair of old and boring socks. But sometimes the traditional way is best, no? Deal with it.

Hot Chocolate + Cream & Marshmellows
Can you blame me from being a fan of hot chocolate when it looks like this?! Mm…

Favorite treat.. hmm… how about, ‘anything with chocolate?’ I’m not even joking right now… Mmm, chocolate. I’m hungry now. I shall make you guys hungry too with the picture below! Mwa-ha-ha. I also really like candy canes. 😉

Chocolate1

And finally, favorite holiday movie… hmm, although there are tons of them out there, I can choose nothing other than of course the classic Home Alone! My only peeve is: Macaulay Culkin, if only you stayed as adorable as you were back then! Ah, some people age worse than others, I guess. :/

8. Who do you tag?

Let us share the holiday spirit! I’m going to tag a bunch of you to start off, but although I’d love to tag you all, I doubt I’d have the space (or time) to do so without us being here for another 20 years! BUT PLEASE. I’d love to add you on if you want to do the tag. Just leave a comment below! ❤ Make sure to link back to this post if you do it so I’m sure not to miss it. On with the tagging!

Hope you guys are all enjoying your month of December so far! Let me know whatever thoughts you may have down below. ❤ I love you guys all so much, see you all again in my next post! Hugs!

Until the Next Meal, Analee
