I am a very secretive* potato!!
Hence, this is a very monumental day as I am actually SHARING my top secret blogging habits! * no one gasps but GASP *
Everyone blogs a little bit differently, and we all have our own blogging habits! Some of them are pretty normal/reasonable, other ones are perhaps a little more… unique? Different?
Either way, I just wanted to share some of my own blogging habits and hopefully either relate to your own habits or spark a little chat about blogging habits because we’re ALL BLOGGERS HERE! Time to spill secrets. 😀
*Okay, maybe not, but humor me here, okay?
1. I almost never finish a draft right after creating it.
I don’t know if this is only me? But no joke, this is how 80% of my post writing process goes:
- “Okay, today, I’m going to write a post!”
- * gets distracted by YouTube and Netflix for an hour *
- “RIGHT. Posting.”
- * opens bullet journal for list of ideas because Analee* is uninspired for a new one * OR
- “OOH LOOK [so and so person] from [so and so thing] just [did a thing]!! What if I bookified it to [insert idea here]???” (Spoiler: usually it makes zero % sense. BUT THAT’S OKAY.)
- * Analee rushes to create a draft on WordPress.
But her internet is slow so she cries.* - Sometimes, Analee has a funny** title already, but other times she just writes what the post is about??? (WHO DOES THAT.***)
- “Hmm… okay, why don’t I start off this post with an obnoxiously loud HI for now…”
- “I also want to mention how delicious ice cream is. Okay, done.”
- “Ahh what’s this post about again?”
- “OH YES. It’s a list!!”
- * She writes: 1. [Something about the idea] and maybe a few more if she’s inspired *
- * Saves *
- “Wow, I’m so productive.” says Analee.
*Why am I talking in third person? NO ONE KNOWS.
**HAHAHA. So I like to think.
***Duh, every normal person Analee???
I KNOW. I sound absolutely insane, but this is actually how it goes (in a more exaggerated manner, of course). Currently, I have around 250 drafts saved on WordPress… *hides* Some of them are from wayyyy back in 2015 and probably will never see the light of day, buuuuut they’re there!
Basically: there is no method to my madness!! (Sometimes.) Literally, for every published post, there were probably at least 3 other drafts that I saved and went back and forth between before completing the published one.
Though I have a schedule and a list of posts that I want to publish and write, often times I end up publishing a totally different post simply because I pick up one of my previously-abandoned drafts and finish that one instead of the draft I just started.
2. Whenever I’m blog hopping on my laptop, I have AT LEAST 12+ tabs open of blog posts.
PLUS multiple windows!
Why? Well, because I often can’t comment on posts right away, particularly for blogs I like to follow actively, at some point I just round up all the blogs I want to binge comment on, and open a huge number of posts on my laptop! I just like having them all visually laid out so I can slowly go through them all. And then one by one, I’ll close the tabs.
Except then I usually end up with a lot more tabs because for each tab I close, I still discover new blogs through the comment section of the blogs I originally started with… #darnit
And THAT’s how blog hopping takes over an hour! 😀
3. I CAN NOT, for the life of me, write a post on my phone.
Fact: Every single post on this blog has been written on my laptop!!
Why? Because I absolutely am horrrrrible with using my phone for writing posts.
I don’t even know why!
I’m perfectly fine using my phone to write literally anything else, but I just can’t get on board with writing a post. Believe me, I’ve tried! While on the bus, a few times I’ve tried writing in my Notes section but the words didn’t flow as easily, you know? I’ve just given up on that front.
Now, if I have an idea for a post randomly and my laptop isn’t with me, I’ll note it down in my phone but that’s it! NOTHING ELSE TILL MY LAPTOP.
My blog would’ve been over and done a looooong time ago if I never had my laptop. (Laptop I love youuuuu. Until you’re replaced with a new one. And then it’s adios.)
4. And don’t get me started on using the WP app for posts!
I don’t know about you guys, but trying to write or edit a post on my phone using the WP app is always ten times more difficult. Even WORSE than simply using Notes on my phone. I KNOW.
There are less options, it lags all the time for me and I can’t type the words as easily because it glitches AND to top it off, I’m also paranoid that it will publish my draft instead of saving it like I want it to, because that’s happened before. *sigh*
WordPress really needs to fix its app aghghghghghhg.
5. I love having chocolate when I’m writing a post!
And everyone thought my comments about needing chocolate were jokes! Hahaha NOPE! 🙂
I love any sort of snack, honestly, (I mean, duh BOOK SNACKS, could I be any more obvious) but having chocolate whenever I’m working on a post is just a sort of habit of mine now? It’s not what I can call a common habit for other bloggers, that’s for sure. BUT CHOCOLATE! ❤ How can you resist??
I WANT THOSE ALL SO MUCH. *cries*
And I swear it makes me work better, too. *nods innocently*
6. I am completely opposed to the “blue” WordPress post editor.
What do I mean? LET ME SHOW YOU.
You see, WordPress, because it is endlessly confusing, has two options as to how you edit your posts. One of them, I believe is older and the blue one I refer to is the new one I think?? Well, new ish. But anyway! Here’s what it looks like:
To access it, as most of you know and do, you go under “My Site” and find Blog Posts or ‘Add’, and voila!! You can see now why blue editor is a very good label for this?? Lots of blue accents, yay!
Buuuuut for me, I just can’t seem to warm up to this one for actual post writing.
Maybe because I haven’t tried to as much?? But I find the ‘older’ version of the editor is just so much more comfortable for me! I’m not quite sure why.
In case you are completely unfamiliar with what I’m talking about, to access it, we have to go to our dashboard, which is WP Admin in the My Site drop down menu thingy.
Then you’ll be able to choose the Add New button from the sidebar, or check out all your posts, categories and all that jazz! This is what the post editor page looks like:
Looks familiar? Yes, no?? (DON’T LET ME BE THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT/USES THIS!!)
I can certainly see the appeal of the “blue” editor, and I’m betting most of you use that one, BUT I kind of really like this one more and NEVER use the other editor when writing my posts.
I’M ODD, OKAY?
7. I like having something play in the background while I’m working on a post or blog hopping.
Could be a song, a TV show, or a movie, anything! Granted, it might make my productivity slightly slower because I am very easily
OH LOOK CHOCOLATE*!
distracted! But, it’s fun and it became another one of my habits too? #multitaskinggenius
*Did this accidentally not-so-accidentally become a chocolate appreciate post? Yes, yes it did.
8. I can never write posts early in the morning.
Whenever I do wake up early it’s for a purpose such as class, or work or something? I am NOT a morning person whatsoever which means you will not see my waking up early for a recreational activity, let me tell you.

Thoughhhhh there was a time that I DID wake up super super early to write blog posts (like, 5 or 6 AM) and I just look back on those days like HUH?? Who was I and what had blogging done to me??! That was probably in my phase of “post everyday” thing going on.
I have learned, since then, it is in fact possible NOT to die from early mornings and still keep up a consistent blogging schedule! WOO for that blessing.
Now, I mostly either write posts in the late-morning (11-ish) to afternoon times (like, 3 ish) or, LATE at night (11 pm to 12 and up!) There is literally no in between; you will not see me writing posts at 7 AM or even at 5PM. Nope. Instead, I prefer being a vampire, up at like, 1 AM OR a reasonable human being and working at 12 PM ish.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ MY MIND IS ODD. Someone help me. Or join me. Either one. xD
What odd blogging habits have you not dared to share with the world??? I pinky-promise I am a good secret keeper. *nods* Can you relate to any of my habits? (WE SHALL BE ODD MINIONS TOGETHER.) Or am I just too far gone in my odd-ness for you? LET US TALK!
OH and I already asked what was your favourite chocolate in another post buuuuut because of all my totally unintended chocolate appreciation here, tell me what is your favourite chocolate food?? (ex. Is it chocolate cake? ice cream? brownies? chocolate chip or double chocolate cookies? donuts? Oh my gosh I’m so hungry now aghghghg help)
And I hope you’ve had/are having a LOVELY Monday, even if Mondays are kind of the worst. 🙂 Lots of love (and chocolate)!! ❤
“Hmm… okay, why don’t I start off this post with an obnoxiously loud HI for now…” Is it bad that this line is me in print? Seriously. Sometimes I start off with an obnoxiously loud “hi”, but then I think that people will think I’m mental (SPOILER ALERT: they already do), and so I just italicize the “hi”. Either that, or I start my blog posts with science jokes. (AM I SMART NOW, MOM???)
Also- 250 DRAFTS WHAT. I thought I was crazy for having 47 drafts (plus an entire draft page dedicated to blog post ideas/ my TBR list/ HTML codes).
LikeLiked by 1 person
HAHAHA *high fives and gives you chocolate* Join the party! 😀 I used to do this a lot more often, now I try to come up with something a *little* bit different (but the loud hi ends up there anyway?) Hahaha yes for science jokes!!
I KNOW. It’s really bad!! xD A lot of drafts just massively collected, I really need to clean it out haha. Nope, not crazy!

Lol funny! I share some of your quirks. I always have a bunch of tabs open when I sit down to comment on posts cause I binge on stuff so I go long stretches without commenting n then comment on everything when I get the chance. I also hate the new WordPress editor n hardly use it.
However I prefer crafting posts in the mornings. I’m more alert then.

I’m glad you think so! 🙂 Right?? YES, that’s exactly me haha, I always go on binges for commenting so it’s just become a habit and kind of useful to have a lot of tabs open for blog hopping! 😀 RIGHT? I’m so glad I’m not alone haha.
Oh, that’s good! I wish I could be more like that ahah.

Great post, I also can’t write posts on my phone and I always have either music or the TV playing in the background when I’m writing post which most of the time causes me to become distracted and forget what I’m supposed to be writing ☺

Thanks! Ahah right? I’m glad I’m not alone there. I probably should stop having something playing while I’m writing a post because I get distracted way too easily buuuut… xD

Ohmygosh!! I don’t use the blue editor either, it seriously feels weird, I prefer to use the old version as well!! And so true, whenever I’m writing a post, I open up so many other tabs related to the topic for inspiration! Great post! I could relate to so many of these! ❤

Does anyone use the blue editor? Or write posts in the app? I just can’t imagine being able to do that? Or writing a post without food or music? HOW is that EVEN possible?
I have so many Evernotes where I just type/scribble down ideas. They rarely transfer to my wordpress drafts. But when they do, they’re great posts! I have at least 30 drafts. And I’m constantly adding new ones. It takes me about 2 weeks to finish a draft, I’m just so over all the place. Write, read, watch Netflix, go to the zoo, read, write, read, write.

Right??? I’ve seen quite a few people say they use the blue editor, but I think the app is universally hated for post writing haha. EXACTLY. I don’t see how it’s possible haha. xD
Haha that’s good!! It’s the same for me, kind of. I write quite a few ideas, but they don’t always all turn into posts. I’ve made drafts for almost each of them though, which is probably how I got to so many WordPress drafts! 😀 Hahaha I get youuuu, I’m all over the place too.

I never write anything on the app or my phone. EVER! I always have to use my laptop. And I also never write first thing in the morning. If there’s a post I have to finish then maybe, but mornings don’t like my brain and my brain doesn’t like mornings!

RIGHT??! It’s impossible for me to write on the app or my phone. YES! Same for me, I’m just not a morning person and it just doesn’t work for me haha. It’s why I tend to post more often in the afternoon, so I can get a chance to WAKE UP before I have to finish a post. ;D

I’m very secretive when it comes to my blog as well Analee, but I loved reading about your blogging habits. 😀 I’m the opposite when it comes to drafting posts though, when I start one I have to finish it, to the point of where if I know I don’t have enough time to write a review or a book tag I won’t start it until I do. 🙂
Your chocolate gifs have made me very hungry, but I can’t really eat while blogging. I have issues with multitasking and either forget the food in favour of blogging or forget blogging in favour of eating. 😀
Great post! ❤

Ooh, I have to finish my posts once I start them! Sometimes I don’t right that minute, but I’ll finish it up sometime later that day! I guess it’s just a goal thing for me. 😂
I also have tabs open for blog-hopping! I usually let them build up for a couple of hours and then binge them all at once when I’m in that mood! 😄
I can’t write a post on my phone either! I don’t really try to. It’s just much easier to write, structure, add pictures and gifs, etc on my laptop. I use the WP app to check my stats and reply to comments, and if something goes wrong with my laptop or the wi-fi in my house, I’ll publish the post via the app, but that’s really it!
I like having something playing in the background! Usually something I’ve already watched because I can’t focus on writing a post and watching a new episode or movie at the same time, but it’s nice to have background noise!

Seriously the app is the worst!! I don’t use it to write posts because it doesn’t always sync back with my computer 😦 I use the blue editor for blogging but the other one for work. Yeah, it’s weird but I have upwards of 30 revisions per post and I don’t like seeing that huge number.
My only weird habit is that the photos are literally the last thing I do. I’m the only blogger I know that doesn’t have a backstock of photos to use.

Right???! I absolutely can’t use it to write posts. Oh that’s interesting! I don’t hear of people using both ahah. I can get that! I’ve little drafts but many posts still in need to be written . So many that I don’t want to look at them. And all the reviews…. *pretend everything is fine*.
I finally relate to someone about writing only with the laptop. Really, phones are little! I always write with so many typos that I’m surprised how my keyboard and screen don’t explode during the correction. I write super-fast, sometimes not thinking that much, and I need to re-read a lot. Plus I’ve glasses. It’s a torture.
And I listen to tv series while blogging too

Ah, yes, a post relating to everything blogger in me. Even down to the chocolate. Sometimes it’s tea or coffee if I’m not up for eating sweets (drinking sweets, though, because my coffee/tea always has sugar in it? always up for that), but yes.
As for the editor, yeah! I do most of my work through the WP Admin page (and absolutely NOTHING via the app — loathe that thing for anything but reading and checking notifs), because the blue editor ALWAYS has something wrong with it or something changes on it and I don’t have the patience to deal with it. Admin editor though? Stable and reliable, I love it. 😀

I hate the new, supposedly “better” WordPress editor too. I hope they never get rid of the old one as option to use because I will be furious. I can’t do anything with the “improved” one.
I find I have to focus on one thing at a time. If I open five tabs to comment on various posts, I get kind of overwhelmed and end up doing nothing. :p Same for writing blog posts. I have to sit down and finish it because often if I leave it as a draft, it gets left there for awhile.

I totally agree about having 12 tabs open all at once and not being able to comment on them right away. I think and then methodically go through them one at a time! I don’t just follow the big bloggers though but love to find little indie book bloggers too so I don’t always hit the mega bloggers – I like to spread the love I guess.
Also not a fan of the new wordpress interface, I totally love the old one too!

Well I don’t have WP but it sounds frustrating. XD
I definitely understand posting at random times of the day though. It usually takes me ALL DAY to write a post (probably because I’m procrastinating, too :P) so I end up posting it like five minutes to midnight most nights. XD I keep telling myself: well, as long as it’s not midnight it’s still today, so technically I’m still being consistent. 😛
And so far I’m having a good Monday. 🙂 It’s dry and warm today, which is nice because this weekend it was cold and rainy all day every day. 😦
And I LOVE brownies! It was really hard to choose which one to pick because they are all so good, but I think nice fudgy brownies are my favorite. 😀
And speaking of chocolate, I just did the chocolate book tag on my blog if you want to read it. 🙂

ANALEE I’m crying. i wrote the longest comment yesterday and closed the tab before I clicked post comment. I HATE LIFE. Sorry if this 2nd draft of the comment is not as good. BLAME…um well…ME.
I didn’t even KNOW it was Monday yesterday like who keeps track of the days in the holidays? (Me apparently because um well I can’t betray my blogging schedule)
I KIND of finish my drafts? Like I draft a post, and get super close to finishing it but leave it until after a few days and I literally have to post and finish it off? WHY, idk? *shrugs* AND OMG, my chrome browser just explodes at blog hopping. Everday I check my WP feed and comment on all the posts in new tabs AND I DIE INSIDE OKAY?
WP APP + PHONES = NOOOO. No way. I haven’t even tried. It just DOES NOTW ORK. The Wp app is officially horrible and phones and blog posts and my thoughts just don’t CLICK. I’ve written every post on my laptop too!
UM YES, THAT GIF. I am SOOO HUNGRY NOOOW. (I haven’t had breakfast yet so that might be it but SHHH) I love snacking…and especially when writing blog posts. It’s LIKE A MUST. Brain food here. It also is the reason why i rant about food in my blog posts! My favourite ‘chocolate food’ has to be brownie/cake. I swear, our school has horrible lunches but their brownie 4 dessert IS WHAT I LIVE FOR omg. I don’t like chocolate ice cream? GASP! I know, I’m sorry chocolate! I just don’t like it that much! BUT WHITE CHOCOLATE IS MY FAVVVVVVEEEE!
And um who writes posts in the morning? HAHA. Normally when writing blog posts so I don’t get distracted I have nothing else running? Because I have to focus otherwise my blog posts end up being a mess. which they are but it would just get messier.
AND WHA? You use the old editor? EW. No offence but it’s so crummy. Just look at the nice and shiny new blue one *sighs* AMAZING. I’ve never used the old editor so I guess I can’t judge but I really need to convert you to the blue one. SOMEHOW.

Hahaha the only reason I did was because I had to make a new bujo spread for this week so *shrug* 😆 (Ugh when we actually have to remember the days thoughhh *cries*)
HAHA niceeee, it’s almost like the opposite of my habit? I start a little bit, you start and finish most of it, I do most of it later and you only do a little bit later. 😂 (WE’RE LIKE… UH… peanut butter and jelly???)
HAHA I KNOW, SAME. 😂😂 My browser probably hates me.
UGHH it’s actually the WORST. *cringes* *cries* I use the app for notifications and occasionally for blog hopping and that is IT. Blech.
I KNOW RIGHT. I already ate and I’m STILL hungry when I look at it. 😂 (*checks time when this comment was posted* You better have gotten breakfast by now Ilsa or I shall CHASE YOU. With chocolate, uh I mean healthy breakfast stuff. And a fork. Very dangerous.)
I KNOW RIGHT. How do you expect my brain to function without snacks?? Haha same. BROWNIES AND CAKE! 😍 I wantttt. And indeed, GASP!! Noooooo I love chocolate ice cream. OOH okay you have redeemed yourself, white chocolate is the BEST. 😍😍
NOT ME. (Except in the past when I was a deluded melon.)
Haha that’s probably a good idea considering how distracting it can be to have something running! 🙈
NOOO I LOVE IT! 😂😍 I do like how the blue one looks (because blueee) buuuut for editing I just can’t. Granted I haven’t used it much either but 😅. HAHA GOOD LUCK. *hugs and attaches self to old editor*

HOW DO PEOPLE WRITE ENTIRE POSTS ON THEIR PHONE? I envy those people. Okay I need my laptop at school so I always have it with me anyway, but still. Thanks, Raven!! xD Oh wow, that’s almost all of them, join the party sister!! I’m so glad I’m not alone ahah. Yes! I’m happy to find someone else who uses the old editor haha.
Ooh yessss!! Good answer. 😀

AHAHAHHA I use the blue editor. Sometimes I use the other one but I’m just used to this one haha. I don’t have the WordPress app because I’ve heard it sucks (along with the GR app), so I just go to the mobile site. But it STILL sucks! Oh, you can’t do it in Notes? Sometimes I have to do that, but most of the time I write on the computer! YES I ALWAYS WANT TO SNACK ON SOMETHING WHILE I’M DOING SOMETHING ELSE. Like while reading? I’ll totally want to eat some dried mangoes or chips or something. XD
Omg yes! Whenever I create a draft, I most likely will not finish it that same day. My posts are pretty long and I put a lot of work into it (quality posts only is how I roll!) so it takes me a long time to write them. And YAS to having something play in the background! Something it’ll distract me (especially if it’s Hamilton), but I don’t know, I just like having music. IT’S TOO QUIET WITHOUT IT. 😛 Love this post!

MAY HOW COULD YOU?! 😂😂 Yeah, the WordPress app can be such a pain! I use it for notifications and comments though. But ughhh the GR app is a total no for me! Aw that’s too bad! Haha nope! I mostly write down ideas if I get any on there, but I just can’t seem to write posts on it. YES TOTALLY!! Multitasking genius. 🙈 Haha same!! I have snacks all the time, but I have to make sure it’s something less messy if I’m reading because otherwise my book will become a complete DISASTER. 😳
Right?! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who does that haha. Yes, exactly! Writing it all at once can become overwhelming. Haha yessss Hamilton!! I LOVE having music in the background as well. Thanks so much!! ❤

Um this list is way too relatable?!?! Also i think chocolate at judt about any time is highly appropriate. Just saying. I always have a billion tabs open hahaha it drives my bf nuts 😆
I draft my posts too but definitely not as epivly as you!!
And I can’t do posts on my phone either. I’ve done so successfully a couple of times but usually it’s just me jotting down my thoughts while reading a book in my notes app for later reference, which I later copy/paste into a post and then edit on my laptop. It’s my best friend.

HAHA woo I’m glad I’m not alone in this?! VERY TRUE. *nods* Right??! It drives everyone around me crazy. xD Lol yup, I’ve certainly went overboard with my drafts ahah. Though to be fair a good number of them are from wayyy back in 2015 and are old reviews and such. EXACTLY. It’s just too difficult. Oh yes, I’ve saved notes on my thoughts for a book plenty of times, but I would definitely have to transfer them to my laptop afterwards!

I loved this post and can relate to just about all of it, ESPECIALLY the first one about all of your drafts that will never see the light of day. Most of mine are from at least six months ago and for the most part just have a paragraph on what I want to write about and no real content haha.
All things chocolate are always good!!

Ahh thank you and I’m SO glad I’m not alone in my blogging habits ahah. RIGHT?? I have SO many drafts, that I never plan on ever completing or posting haha. Same!! Like, I have so many old reviews that only have a few lines of what I thought on it. xD
Totally!!

I could related to every point. I am such a lazy blogger at times that I feel like giving blogging up altogether!
I have more than 12 tabs when I blog hop like I am right now and I have about 20 tags open!

Haha I’m glad you could relate!! Blogging does take a lot of effort ahah, but I do hope you stick with it! 🙂 It’s totally been worth it for me. Right?? I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Interesting post! 😀
I love the WordPress app but I only use it to read and comment on posts, I don’t think I could write a post with it either! I also love the blue editor – it has everything I need and looks really tidy imo. I’d never seen the other one before haha. x

Thank you! Yes, that’s exactly it for me, I just use it for commenting on the go and notifications. Writing a post would be so difficult!! Haha really? I do like how the blue one looks, but I just can’t get used to it for some reason. 😂

I guess I haven’t been blogging long enough to know the old editor 😅

Haha that might be it!! The old one isn’t very easy to access compared to the blue one ahah and I wouldn’t have known it either if I hadn’t started off using it. 🙈

I use the same post editor, I’m also extremely tab-happy, and I can’t bear writing a post on my phone either! Honestly, I don’t even comment on my phone if I can avoid it. It’s just so much easier to type at the computer!

Yayyy I’m glad to see I’m not alone in those habits!! 😆 What’s a good blog hopping session without many tabs? 😂 Writing a post on a phone is awful. I do use my phone for commenting occasionally though, simply because it’s more portable!

I completely agree about using the app! There’s something so much more user friendly about an actual key board when I’m writing something that is long, (typically) time consuming, and will involve lots of cut, paste, delete this whole section, etc.

Ahah I’m so glad you agree!! The app drives me crazy. Yes! Using a keboard is so much easier, for some reason. The app is okay for on-the-go, but I much prefer my laptop haha.

There was definitely a time where I thought the smart move was to work on a single writing project from start to finish, particularly if it was something as brief as a writing post.
But lately I’ve been trying a different method, where I have half a dozen or more different categories of writing project (i.e. Writing Post, Book Review, Journal, Discussion, Revision, Brainstorming, and of course Reading Blog Posts), and my rule is that for each category or phase of a writing project (brainstorming vs revision), I’m allowed one project.
My theory is that this keeps me somewhat on task, but still offers me some flexibility.
Tonight I really thought I was going to either work on a discussion post or a book review, but when I sat down at the computer my mind just wasn’t feeling it, and I recognized that while I could force it, odds are the results would be very “meh”, and probably minimal.
But reading other people’s blog posts, taking in new information with the calm knowledge that I didn’t “have to” make anything of it tonight, seemed very fitting for my current mental state.
Similarly, I used to open lots of tabs with blog posts, until the web browser started crashing, or the computer would randomly reset in the night, so I started creating a big “link list”, full of blog posts I do intend to read…someday.
I also can’t write in the morning, although I think the real issue is I find it hard to write if I know that I have to go somewhere or do something afterwards. Writing frequently gets away from me, so I find it difficult to write if I need to keep my eye on the clock and remember “Leave at 2:30,” or what have you.
And I always like to have music playing in the background, preferably without lyrics. The sound provides a nice foundation for random ideas, while also drowning out the intermittent sounds of the outside world.
Thanks for sharing.

I’ve definitely had a time like that as well! And I actually can relate to your current method as well, to a certain extent ahah. How is it working for you? I definitely like having options and that flexibility, personally haha.
Oh yes, that’s totally happened to me before. The results definitely wouldn’t be as positive when the passion or motivation isn’t there for a certain idea.
Oh very true! Taking a break from trying to write and reading other posts without any pressure is super great.
Haha when the browser crashes it’s such a pain!! I used to have a similar blog link list! Haha the ever-so-vague someday. I relate. 😂
Oh haha that’s so true! I don’t do very well with a time limit for writing posts.
Ooh that’s interesting! I usually have music with lyrics or a TV show but I like the idea of having music without lyrics ahah. Thank you for stopping by!

First off, I always love your funny titles! It always makes me instantly want to read your post! My titles are all boring and self-explanatory – I should definitely spice mine up a bit more. And I also have a million bajillion unfinished posts. I usually come up with a prompt first and then instantly schedule it a month or two in advance and begin working on it (scheduling takes away the fear that I might accidentally hit “PUBLISH NOW” if it’s still a draft).
Also, the past couple months I’ve been having the WORST internet access at home so I haven’t been able to binge comment or blog hop on aaaanyone’s blogs and it is just the absolute worst thing ever!! I have to wait until I have free time at work to do that (which I am currently mwahaha >:D)
I also never write blog posts on my phone. Mainly because it always turns into a formatting cluster f*** when you open it on your desktop.
As for #6 I always use the new blue version because I only started my blog like a few months ago and that was the option presented to me??? lol oops!!
Aaand I also enjoy playing music or TV for background noise. It’s comforting. I feel less alone…. writing in complete silence and then knowing I’m about to post it into the internet VOID is unsettling.
Great post! I can definitely to relate to almost all of this lol

Aw thank you!! 💕 I’m glad you think so ahah. Self explanatory is totally okay! 🙂
Right?! Ooh, that’s interesting!! I have to try that sometime.
Oh noooo!! That’s awful! My internet access had been going in and out for the past week, and that was hard enough! 😩 I hope your internet access improves?! Haha what a rebel, Bridget!! 😂
SO TRUE. Oh my gosh. It’s a total mess afterwards… the app really needs to do better ahah.
Oh, that seems to be the case for a lot of people! It’s the default option so it makes sense haha.
Yes!! It’s relaxing, in a sense ahah. I’ve never thought of it that way oh my gosh!! That sounds so poetic. 🙈
Thanks!! Yayy I’m glad I’m not alone in some of these! 🙌

We have a lot of the same habits actually! 😂
I never complete drafts after starting them, don’t use my phone to write posts, and always have something on (usually a TV show) in the background while writing posts or making comments.

Ohhh I can relate to SO MANY of these things – maybe we are blogging twins?! I can’t use the Blue WordPress editor either, it’s too weird and…I just can’t seem to FIND anything on it?! So I just use the old admin thing, it works perfectly fine and I feel like I can see what I am doing better, if that makes sense.
I’m the same for blog-hopping: I open a gazillion tabs at the same time – and my computer hates me – then I slowly go through every post I want to read and comment on. It takes me like, HOURS every single day sometimes, but it’s worth it.I think we just need bigger screens to open more tabs everywhere? We are tab-obsessed? Is that a thing? Haha.
I can’t do anything on my phone except from checking my stats and comments…. I would be too scared to mess everything up ahah, I’d much rather do everything on the computer just like you! 😀
Great post, loved reading it 🙂

Love this post – and we are soooo alike (especially in our DISlike of the new and “improved” editor). It’s slow, important functions are more complex to use (like adding/editing links) – and it’s kludgy — slows my browser to a crawl and sometimes one of their scripts forces me to reboot the darned thing.
And did I mention that it is s-l-o-w? Truly NOT developed for anyone who offers much more than a tweet or a meme as a blog post. And don’t get me started on trying to actually write on my phone! I even avoid texting on the darned thing.
Although it doesn’t exactly fit with the new addition to my Habits series, I’m linking anyway — watch for a ping.

Yay, I’m glad! Ooh really? I’m so happy to find another person who likes the old editor better. Right??? It is so weird to use. Aw no! That sucks, agh. I haven’t used it that much so I haven’t noticed that but that is SO annoying. Writing on my phone is so difficult ahhhhh!!
Ahah thanks! 😀

You’re welcome Analee. And I NEVER write on my phone – lol – I can’t see well on that tiny screen (and even if I could, why would a touch typist ever want to hunt and peck on a keyboard made for dolls?) 🙂
btw – MOST of the writers I know despise the new editor — many of us gave threatened to jump ship if WordPress ever decides to make it impossible to use the good one.
