Mix of fantasy and contemporary, YAY! // 2017 July Book Releases

It’s almost the last day of Juneeeee! Guess what that means??! NEW BOOKS! Well, they’re not released yet so we’re closer to new books! Aaaaand they seem amazing but of course I will be broke AGAIN? (Somebody #helpme)

OH and my giveaway to win one released 2017 diverse book is ending July 3rd!! Make sure to enter that before it’s too late! You can click on this link for my post with the Rafflecopter or the image below. 🙂

Now on to the July books!!

July 4th

The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy: Secrets! Magic! Disappearances! (ha) VERY OMINOUS.

Coming Up for Air by Miranda Kenneally: Swimming! Summer! Friends to lover trope! SO CUTE.

July 11th

Because You Love to Hate Me edited by Ameriie: This is possibly one of my MOST anticipated books of this year! This is an anthology of short stories from bestselling authors who are also paired with a booktuber writing about the villains featured in fairytales! I loooooove a good anti-hero/villain story and plus there are some of my favourite authors here soooooo SQUEAL. (Authors include: Renee Ahdieh, Marissa Meyer, Adam Silvera, Victoria Schwab… THIS IS HEAVEN)

What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum: I looooooved Tell Me Three Things from this author! So I can’t wait to read this one, it sounds and looks SO CUTE! I want a smoothie tooooooooooo. Or I’m assuming it’s a smoothie??

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski: I SENSE TRAVEL omg YES. The main character is literally visiting Europeeeee I sense wanderlust and AGH. ❤

Ash and Quill by Rachel Caine: Okay so I’m guilty of not having read the second book in the series yet despite having an ARC of it since last year?? I KNOW. One of my absolute worst book blogger confessions ever omg. But I am looking forward to this one!!

Paintbrush by Hannah Bucchin: LOOK AT THAT COVER I don’t even need to know what it’s about *heart eyes*

The Art of Starving by Sam J. Miller: This sounds so heartbreakingggg! Oh my gosh. It’s about a bullied gay boy who has an eating disorder and its blurb also mentions More Happy Than Not?! MINE.

The Savage Dawn by Melissa Grey (The Girl at Midnight #3): I haven’t read this series yet but I know people who love it, so I definitely want to try it out! I hope it’s a good read!

The Dragons of Nova by Elise Kova (Loom Saga #2): I’ve heard so much yet so little about Elise Kova! There seems to be a lot of people who’ve read her other fantasy series, but they claim she’s underrated? *shrug* Either way the book sounds good!

Hello, Sunshine by Leila Howland: Who, me?? WHY THANKS YOU. Also fluff and sunshine!! #yes

This is How it Happened by Paula Stokes: Much vagueness?? WHAT HAPPENED??! Unfortunately the main character doesn’t know either because she just woke up from a coma and–

July 18th

The Color Project by Sierra Abrams: Family, friendship and romance, all in one book? Also I’ve read such amazing recs of it so far and that cover is so gorgeoussss.

The Library of Fates by Aditi Khorana: Ahem, this said, and I quote, “romantic fantasy tale steeped in Indian folklore, perfect for fans of The Star-Touched Queen and The Wrath and the Dawn” OH HI two of my favourite books??! Please don’t be a marketing ploy please please. GIMME.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell: Magic! (no duh) In modern day New York! Stealing books! I mean if I were a criminal I’d relate. MINE!

Wesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn: Another friend-to-lover trope! This one sounds like such fun.

The Ends of the World by Maggie Hall: Hehehehe this is another tragic case of me-falling-out-of-interest-because-of-waiting? I loved the first book but when the second released I didn’t care very much haha but now that the third is releasing I might try to read the whole series!

What Goes Up by Katie Kennedy: I don’t usually read sci-fi? But oh well, it sounds pretty good!

July 25th

Lucky in Love by Kasie West: Aghhh so many anticipated releases on July 25th for me!! Kasie West is SUCH an amazing contemporary author, her books are always so adorable. NEED THIS BOOK!!

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody: Where Lucky in Love is super cute, this one seems more of a darker book and I can’t wait!! It has a traveling carnival and I neeeeeeed to read this!!

The Gallery of Unfinished Girls by Lauren Karcz: Ahhh this sounds so good! We have a POC MC and bisexual rep I think, as well as an f/f romance though I’m not sure how much it plays a part. It sounds very artsy!

Everything All at Once by Katrina Leno: The main character has anxiety! It sounds like such a wonderful coming of age story.

Changes in Latitude by Jen Malone: A road trip romance that takes place at sea I think??? #muchsense

Vanguard by Ann Aguirre (Razorland #4): I haven’t read this series but I’ve heard of it before! That counts for something right??

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas: This is pitched as being for fans of Pretty Little Liars and it’s a psychological thriller! I used to be a fan of PLL, not so much anymore and I don’t read many thrillers at all but it sounds interesting!

First We Were IV by Alexandra Sirowy: Revenge! Death! Rebellion! Sounds perfect. 😛 (I swear I’m normal. Mostly.)

Buried Heart by Kate Elliott: I swear, these one year waits between books are horrible. I don’t remember much of what happened in the first two books? But I mean, I liked them well enough, the first better than the second but I hope this is a good finale!!

What books are you looking forward to this month?! I am SO looking forward to so many of these!! Do you think you’ll be broke this month or will you still have some money left?? How was your month, reading/life wise? Let us talk and screech over time moving too fast but also incredibly slowly! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway if you haven’t already! I hope you all have an amazing day/night! ❤

  1. Great list of books! I’ve got Ash & Quill (not that I can read it because I haven’t even started this series yet, oops!), The Library of Fates, The Last Magician and Daughter Of The Burning City (with this one probably being the one I am most excited about!)! July definitely turned out to be a much better month for new releases than I thought!

  2. These all sounds like amazing books, and so many are already on my to-read list! Because You Love Me is really near the top, I’m not always a fan of anthologies but this has stories by Samantha Shannon and V.E. Schwab so I am there! I’ve had The Savage Dawn pre-order since forever, I really love that series, and actually there are a fair few others on this list I need to pre-order because I want to have them in my hands the second they’re released!
I managed to get an ARC of Daughter of the Burning City, it was a great book, as amazing as it sounds, and I’m sure you’ll really love it as well Analee! 😀 ❤

    • Right?! Yes, oh my gosh Because You Love Me has so many amazing authors working on it! I haven’t read anything by Samantha Shannon yet, but knowing your love for her books I really must get on that! 😀 But of course, V.E. Schwab is one of my favourite authors ever, so I can’t wait to read her story. And oh, I can’t wait to start The Girl at Midnight series! I hope you enjoy The Savage Dawn as much as you did the previous books. Same here, I can’t wait!
EEP really??! That’s amazing, and I’m so glad to hear that!! I have no doubt I will love it! ❤

      • Ohh, well maybe if you enjoy Samantha Shannon’s story in Because You Love to Hate Me you’ll get started on her other books? All I needed to see was Samantha Shannon’s and V.E. Schwab’s names and I knew I needed this book. 🙂
Thanks, I hope you enjoy the whole series, you’ll be able to binge read given all three books are soon to be released. 😀

  5. OKAY, ANALEE. You see, every time you make these posts, I NEED to read all these books??? I would talk about the ones I want to read the most but OMG I WANT ALL. Also I’m too lazy to list them all. And my arms hurt. (So this just became a comment of complaints/excuses???) Basically I love and hate you for this. *cries*

  6. There are some amazing books being released this month! I’m most excited about The Color Project. The Art of Starving also seems really interesting because it’s rare to see a book about a male character with an eating disorder. Also, it mentions More Happy Than Not, so, yes, I need it!

  7. I SO NEED ALL OF THESE! I’m going to save this post so I make sure all of these are added to my TBR soon! I got Daughter Of The Burning City as an e-arc AND I’m SUPER EXCITED! I so want to read The Color Project, I’ve heard some fantastic things about it! And Paintbrush’s cover is SO AESTHETICALLY PLEASING. I have this hunch that Library of Fates won’t be too good? I don’t even know. #bookwormlogic

  11. Yes!! So many epic releases!! My only complaint is that they all seem to fall on the same date? Why would they do that to us?? As if our wallets weren’t skinny enough XD
I’m hoping to read a huge portion of the ones mentioned in this post! Can’t wait ❤

        • Oh, I have shelves on Goodreads for each month’s upcoming releases! 😀 I realized a while back I would not be able to keep them all straight in my head haha and so I usually add books to my shelves whenever I find them interesting. That way, when I do my monthly posts I don’t have to search for them! Still time consuming because of links, text, and covers but makes it a lot more manageable haha. ❤

        • Ohhh! That’s such a good idea! 😀 And yes, I feel you. My book reviews likely take more time to compile and format than it does to actually write them. :p But I think it’s great that you’re doing this. Really helpful for everyone!
