You’re not mistaken, I promise!

As the title says, I finally did it! I changed my blog theme (Visual) after 2 years of blogging. *celebrates with chocolate and binge-buying all the books I said I would not buy* I am SO excited to finally go through with it.

I mentioned it a couple of times, wanting to change my blog theme, discussing the option of self-hosting as well, because I wanted more options for my blog and was getting tired of my theme, to be honest. It didn’t motivate me to blog anymore, and I’ve been restless to change it! The dark theme just wasn’t doing it and I’m a firm believer in doing whatever feels right for yourself and your blog.

So, I finally decided on this theme!! It’s super popular throughout the blogging community I noticed, and I was kind of worried people would think I’m copying their theme, but in the end I really couldn’t find many other themes that suited me and what I was looking for and I just really love the look of this theme. 😀

*That is, if you’re actually on my blog and not looking at this post on the Reader or email LOL.

Now, for the fun part! Graphics!

I made this graphic using the lovely watercolor background that Angie from Angie Makes so kindly offers as a freebie! There were several variations I played with, but in the end I thought this one looked good. I had a variation of this where I used the Playlist Script font which was so beautiful but I decided to keep the Brusher font I’ve been using for my header images. It just has the nice mix of looking elegant but playful, I guess??

I’m debating whether or not I should go for a gold theme instead though??????? GUYS I’M SO BAD AT MAKING DECISIONS. I think the pink one looks good though??? Or is it too pink? (I GIVE UP. )

But, for the sake of this post and my sanity, I’ll go with the pink theme unless there’s some serious problem haha.

So, I would totally do the whole text box thingy with the HTML code and stuff but like… laziness?? And it’s hardly necessary, this is mostly so you guys can see what my profile picture will now look like, hopefully… When I get around to changing it! It’s going to be so weird, to see the different icon, I think, I got so used to having the one I have now haha.

And that’s the new design for the dividers I plan on using! I never really used dividers before, but I think they’re a great way to break up text, especially since I don’t always have a lot of images.

I’m honestly not sure AT ALL how and if I’m going to be changing my post headers though?? I kind of like how simple and easy they are to make at the moment, and I’m not exactly sure what I’d change them to. We’ll see! I kind of don’t mind the one I have right now, just might change the font.

Oh yeah, that’s new too! 😉 I also have another variation for the ending graphic, not sure if I’ll use this or the Let’s chat but it’s an option and I think it’s cute ahah. ❤

    I’ve changed my design twice now, and I’m definitely satisfied as to how it currently looks at the moment! Who knows, I might change it again! 😂

    • Ahhh thank you!! 😘 Oh my gosh I know right? 😂 I had originally been planning for a blue theme, even! But it somehow went to pink? Lol.

  5. I changed my theme last year and it made all the difference, my blog seems so much more ‘grown up’ now, as does yours 😊
    As I have books as my header I’ve resolved to update the selection at least once a year, and today was the day!!

  6. I like your new theme! It looks bright and more organized than the previous one. I think the header looks too simple maybe you should add some more creativity on it. I haven’t changed my theme yet because I’m not ready to change it.

    First of all, I LOVE your blog look.I love Angie Makes as well, and your blog IS SO GORGEOUS, OMG! Though i think I like the gold version better??? Maybe you could mix Gold and Pink somehow??? I started using dividers from like 2 weeks ago –> which is surprising since I’ve been blogging for a year? Love all the graphic and PINKNESS!

  8. OMGGGGGGGGGGGG ANALEEEEEEEEE I LOVE IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. Pink is like my favorite color so. 😛 How do you get your text to be smaller??? (Like the footnote.) And AGH it’s just so beautifullllllll. I’ll miss your old look though. 😥 I’m thinking of changing my theme soon, but the theme I’m looking at has some aspects I don’t like… :/ LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤

    • MAYYYYYYYYYY THANK YOUUUUU darling!! 💞💞 And, to make the text smaller I just used a simple HTML code; at the start of the text I wanted to be small and at the end just put . Obviously 10 is just the number I used, you can put any other number and it will work fine as well! (Just remember to switch to the HTML editor while writing your post and not use the code while on Visual because then it won’t work. 😉) Hope that helps! ❤

  10. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! 😍😍😍😍 Watercolour-style and the colour-theme you chose in general are just to die for. Everything looks so light and fluffy and I LOVE IT! I remember how excited I was to change my theme and then it totally paid off and that definitely is the case here as well. I liked your old theme, because the dark colours were different than what other people had, but this just looks gorgeous. ❤
    I really like the Let's Chat at the end, because it invites to ramble like I often do hahaha but I am sure that whatever you go with in the end will be perfect!

    • THANK YOU KAT!!! 😭❤😘😘 I’ve always had a weakness for watercolour, though I’ll admit the pink wasn’t planned at first, it looks better than I expected! I am SO glad you love it oh my gosh Kat!! Oh yes, I was so excited to change my theme, every time I’d just play around with other theme previews and finally activating this one was so great. Thats actually the main reason I went with that theme in the first place! I still haven’t found many/any blogs with a dark-coloured theme haha but now I’m totally obsessed with the theme I have now.
      Yes, I do like it as well! It’s probably going to be my go-to option. 😊
      I honestly just want to shower you with hugs right now!! ❤❤❤ (I would say books and chocolate but that would be painful?? And a waste?? Haha.)

  14. Your new graphics are just gorgeous Analee, I don’t think it’s too pink though I understand the concern because that’s one I had about mine as well, and I love the new theme your using as well. It’s almost like you have a whole different blog from that what you did yesterday! 😀
    It’s nice making a change like this isn’t it? I still love my new theme one month on just as much as I did when I first unveiled it, so I’m sure it will be the same for you as well! 😀 ❤

I SO get how you must've felt when you changed your theme ahah. 😉 I kind of wish I had saved some images of how my old design looked though! I forgot haha in the midst of all my excitement over changing my theme! It is sooo refreshing and I am so glad I went with the change. Yes, I think that's how it will be for me as well! ❤ I just love how it looks.

      • That’s all right! 😀 ❤ It's always go great when you have an idea of where you want your blog design to go. I finished my re-design a good few weeks before actually unveiling it and the wait was really hard. I still have all my old images saved, I can never get rid of anything, but I doubt I'll go back to my old design anytime soon.
        It looks amazing, you must be so proud of everything you did and put together. 🙂 ❤

        • Ahah I did all my designing over the weekend! My original plan was to do it mid May-ish but then I couldn’t wait because I really was getting too unmotivated by my old theme and super excited about the new one to wait. 😂 I can’t imagine waiting that long haha good for you! Oh me neither, I’m sticking with the theme for the foreseeable future! I’m considering temporarily going back to it to save pictures of how it looked like though. 😂😂 Thank you!! 😊 I’m really happy with it.

  17. I feel you. My God do I feel you. I used to blog at RoundRobinWrites.com (which is still live but ending at the end of the year) and I literally wrote all the code for that and I would sit there toggling between like 3 colors for the border of block quotes. Then my co-admin and I started BookedAllNight.wordpress.com and literally spent a month on the name, 3 days on the theme, and probably a week finding the right background images. I love your theme. And no-it’s not too much pink. If this is too much pink than JMTuckerman.com is too much pink and I just REFUSE to admit it.

  18. This made me laugh (not in a bad way) because very often I look at the layout for my site and I want to change it, but… 1.) I can never find anything I like better and 2.) Everyone comments that they love the simple, no-frills, easy-to-navigate look so it’s like “Well…crap. Guess it stays.”

    • Ahah I’m glad to hear it! 😁 Oh, I can SO relate with the first point, it’s what stopped me from changing my first theme for so long haha. I have to say I haven’t faced the second one to be honest, I don’t think many people will miss my old dark theme as most people prefer light themes. 🙈 I’d say if you want to change, you should go for it! There are most likely other options that fit that description as well–though I suppose point #1 is a bit of an issue. 😂

  21. OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I’m in reader so I don’t see the background and stuff but the graphics are so beautiful and I adore the pink. I wish I had the skill to create that and change my blog theme.
    I changed mine a couple times but never anything big. Emma recently designed a header for me and so I switched to that and tried to find something to match it but I have bad color matching eyeballs and so I can’t do it 😂

  29. I don’t know what it looked like before but I think it looks great now! I like the pink over the gold, it stands out more. I’ve been considering if I need a change. And I need to learn about graphics and how to put them in posts and on my page…so much too learn.
