Hi! It’s time for a WWW Wednesday post, a meme formerly hosted by MizB @ Should be Reading and now hosted by Sam @Taking on a World of Words. To play along, answer the three questions:

What are you currently reading?

Currently reading

I’m currently reading 4 books:

I started Emerald Green on July 5th, I believe, Pretty Dark Sacrifice on July 6th, and the other two yesterday. My reading schedule has been quite busy! Luckily, it’s summer vacation here in Canada, and I have lots of free time on my hands. 🙂 I’m currently around 35% in Emerald Green (sadly I haven’t been able to read this much!), 30% in Pretty Dark Sacrifice, 40% in Never Have I Ever, and 45-50% in Ugly Love.

Recently finished

I finished 8 books this week:

I’m extremely happy and surprised with the number of books I’ve been able to get through this week! I finished the three books I had been reading last week, and finished 5 other books (even though only 2 of those books are ones I had actually been planning on reading). Of course, The Twits & The First Lie are pretty short books, basically novellas, but they still count as books read! 🙂 I wasn’t planning on reading Sapphire Blue (and now, Emerald Green) but after re-reading Ruby Red I just felt like binge-reading the series! XD

Read next

I didn’t get the chance to get to Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold or The Ugly Stepsister by Aya Ling this week, so I’ll be focusing on these books next.

I’m also thinking of reading Twisted by Holly Hook, Learning to Swim by Sara J. Henry, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, and/or Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout.

I’m extremely wary of Hello, I Love You, and after reading so many bad reviews on it, I had been seriously considering to forego my usual rule of giving all books a chance (no matter what reviews I’ve read said). But in the end I decided I’m going to read this for my Popsugar challenge; ‘a book with bad reviews’.

  1. I love Ugly Love and I need to read Ruby Red. I’ve had the first to books for more than a year. Did you like Emma? I started that book years ago and haven’t finish it yet. And it’s the only Jane Austen book that I haven’t read yet

    • Glad to hear you loved Ugly Love! XD It is quite good! And you should definitely read Ruby Red, it’s a great book! The series is pretty addicting.
      Emma… I still have conflicting emotions. On one hand, the protagonist Emma got on my nerves, but on the other hand I praise Jane Austen for creating a main character that’s not so likeable, and the writing style was nice (once you got used to it, of course). I really liked it overall I suppose, although not as much as Jane Austen’s other books. 🙂 If you like Jane Austen, I’d suggest you give it another try.

  3. Wow! I wish I could get through such an impressive number of books 🙂
    I haven’t read The Lord of the Flies since reading it at school, but it made a real impact on me. It’s one of the few books I haven’t read for over 15 years but I could still tell you the characters’ names and what happens!
    I’m planning to re-read Dahl’s The Witches as a bit of research for the book I’m currently writing. Scared the heck out of me when I was a kid! 🙂

    • I’m quite surprised I managed so much! 🙂 But happy, of course.
      I actually haven’t read it in school, although I was supposed to. Oops! It’s one of the few books I didn’t. It’s great that it stuck with you for so long! It seems very promising.
      Ha ha yes, The Twits is great! I’ve read it when I was a child, and it was great re-reading it. XD

  5. I loved Bossypants! I hope you liked it as well. I didn’t read Lord of the Flies until I was in college and I had free time. Hope you w not it! Harry Potter is always a good choice. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

    • Glad you enjoyed Bossypants! I was liking it at first, but as I read more of the story, I found it’s just more of a ‘okay’ book for me. I hope I enjoy Lord of the Flies as well, I’m feeling like I will. 🙂 For sure, Harry Potter is great at any time (unless you’re on an anti-fantasy slump or something)!   6. Wow, 8 books in one week! That sure is impressive. I need to do another Roald Dahl reread soon, I loved his books as a kid and they are fun to reread as well. 😀 I’ve heard bad things about Hello, I Love You as well, mostly because of the characters and ‘racist?’ and inaccurate desciptions of the Korean Pop culture. I hope you don’t end up hating it…

    • Thanks! 🙂 I definitely wasn’t expecting to get through so much.
      Yes, Roald Dahl is a great author! His books are so much fun to reread, I agree. 😀 Yep, that’s what I’ve heard as well. :/ I have yet to read a review that doesn’t comment on the cultural aspect of the book, ha ha. Same here! I really want to like it, but I doubt I will.. 😦

  8. Whoa, is Winter in Australia. 😦 The sad thing is we don’t have snow, so it’s never as fun as Winter in Canada. But I’m so jealous of your free time and summer vacation.

    I honestly have no idea how you can alternate between FOUR BOOKS! :O Very impressive though! 😀 I wish I can do that too. I can’t wait till summer at the end of the year so I can just binge reading, and possibly on chocolate hazelnut too 😛

    Great post, I love all the novels you’ve read, reading and planning to read. Particularly Eat Pray Love – you see, I’m very much wanderlust hence any novel about travelling I want it! 😛 You seriously just added more books to my TBR list haha xD

    P.S. Don’t tell anyone, but when I first saw the cover of The Almost Moon – I thought I saw a glowing block of chocolate. 😉

    • Ha ha winter in Canada gets boring after a while, and usually freezing cold!! This winter for us was the worse… -_- And yep, summer vacation is great… don’t worry, when your time comes it shall be I who is jealous, I’m sure.

      Hehe thanks! My multitasking between books is a more recent development, I used to be completely incapable of reading more than two books at once.
      Oooh yes books and chocolate… my favorite!
