I only have 1 word. Outstanding. Tahereh Mafi outdid herself in this heart-stopping conclusion to the Shatter Me trilogy! I absolutely loved this book!!!

Note: To make this a spoiler-free review, I’m skipping my usual quick summary.

Plot

This book… just, oh my god. The plot was amazing, fast-paced and kept me on the tip of my toes! Never a dull moment, I was constantly immersed in the story. As the conclusion of a series, I was expecting something of magnitude, and I certainly was not disappointed!

Characters

Oh, the characters. Where do I start? They were definitely the best part of the book for me. I mean, they were simply amazing. Juliette went through so much development since the first book, and I absolutely loved seeing her become the strong, powerful, decisive, and kick-butt character she was meant to be! Juliette is very uncertain throughout the series, especially in Unravel Me (the second book) and even in the first part of this book, but by the end of the book she knows what she wants, who she wants, and what she’s going to do to succeed. I loved seeing this newfound determination and strength in her!

Warner is officially one of my top book boyfriends. He has been since I read Destroy Me, Unravel Me & Fracture Me, but this book just made me love him 10 times more. His actions, his motives, everything is just for Juliette’s benefit, and my heart broke for him so many times throughout the book! He seemed so real, and his love for Juliette so true, that I just couldn’t help but fall in love with his character way harder than I should. 😉 His love for Juliette is endless, a burning passion, and there’s not doubt that he and Juliette are great for eachother. I have no idea how I ever could’ve shipped Juliette and Adam, with Warner around.

Which brings me to my rant about Adam. Adam, is a selfish, idiotic jerk who deserves to rot in hell. Oh, sorry, was that rude? 😛 Okay, he deserves at least to be hit in the face with bricks over and over for his stupid actions throughout the series. By Unravel Me and Fracture Me it was already clear how much of a jerk he was, but in this one I simply couldn’t stand him. I do understand and believe that he was crucial to the story in making the events that happened, happen, and he did kind of redeem himself in the end, but that doesn’t change the fact that I want him to die in a hole. All that to say, kudos to Tahereh Mafi for creating a character who went from being good and likeable character to a huge self-absorbed jerk.

This is getting to be a very long rant instead of calm reviewing, so I will quickly move on to the side characters, who I absolutely loved, especially Kenji, Juliette’s best friend (who I wish was mine) and James, Adam’s brother who thankfully isn’t a jerk as his older brother. Kenji is just so supportive and funny, and I just loved him so much. His older brother relationship with James is also so heart-felt and I loved it. James himself is so cute, I always just had to smile when he came into a scene, and I just loved him.

Writing Style

Again, I really loved Tahereh Mafi’s writing style. What I loved most about it was how dramatically it changed from the first book to demonstrate Juliette’s development. There was not many strikeouts that I can remember, and this read more like a normal book, and I really loved that since it signified so much. Also, despite all this, the writing style remained so beautiful, with Tahereh unique prose and quotable writing that I loved in the previous books.

If you haven’t picked up this series yet, you better get up and get it NOW. Leaving this post and everything. Because this, is truly a fantastic series. Even though this is like, 400 pages, I finished it in just a day, give or take a few hours, because the plot, had me captivated. The characters, I fell in love with, and the writing style was beautiful, with Tahereh Mafi’s unique prose and fluency. If I could I’d give it 10 stars, because I just loved it so much. Overall, this book is outstanding.
