Burrito Bowl Book Tag

Hi there! I was tagged to do this by Ashley @ Dear World! Thanks, Ashley! ❤ This seems like a super fun tag, so I’m excited to jump right to it. Especially since I was tagged for this since over a month ago, I think. Oops!

Rice: The Foundation – “The book that got you into reading (or book blogging)” – N/A

To be completely honest, there really is not a single book that got me into reading. I just always loved to read, and my decision to start blogging was pretty spontaneous, and wasn’t affected by a book.

Beans: The Filler – “The book with a whole lot of nothing going on” – Matched by Ally Condie

This book honestly had so many unneeded, or at least boring, parts in it, and would’ve been so much better if there hadn’t been! Of course, I am biased, I didn’t particularly like this book, after all. But still! My opinion remains the same. (You can check out my review on Matched here.)

Protein: The Building Block – “A book quote to live by” – “It takes a great deal of bravery to
stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”

― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

This is such an important quote to remember! It’s not always bullies we have to face, it’s usually our friends.

Fajitas: The Crunch of Texture – “A book with immaculate world-building” – Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I know Ashley also answered this for this one, and I definitely agree! The world-building in this book is undeniably on point! Loved it!

Salsa: The Dance of Flavour – “A book that kept you on your toes” – Angelfall by Susan Ee

Again, I’m agreeing with Ashley on this one! Angelfall was full of gritty, action-packed moments!

Corn: The Explosion of Sweetness – “A memorable scene with friendship/romance” – Levi & Cath’s moments together

There were so many memorable moments in Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, between Levi & Cath, I can’t choose one! They’re just soooo cute together!!

Cheese: The Bond of Calcium – “Two characters from different books you wish could be friends” – Dee-dum and Fred & George OR Elinor & Jane

Dee-Dum from the Penryn & the End of Days trilogy are both such troublemakers and so alike to Fred and George of the HP series, they would all become friends in no time! And they’re twins too, just like Fred and George. Although if they do become friends… it’ll be 4 times the trouble! 😉

Another pairing I can think of would be Elinor Dashwood and Jane Bennet, both characters from Jane Austen’s books Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice, respectively. Both characters are calm, sensible, and kind, so I can definitely see them be friends!

Sour Cream: The Tangy Topper – “The quirkiest character you’ve ever read (protagonist or supporting)” – Luna Lovegood

Luna from the HP series is definitely a quirky character! In a good way, though. She’s loyal, and doesn’t care what people think of her, always believing in what she believes in no matter what.

Guacamole: The Cost of Creaminess – “A book you paid too much for” – Flash Point by Nancy Kress

This book was such a disappointment, I’m sad to say! It had such an interesting premise, but it just didn’t do it for me. (You can check out my review on it here.) Even though it wasn’t overly pricey or anything, it wasn’t worth the money.

Lettuce: The Handful of Crispness – “A refreshing concept/theme in a book” – A Court of Thorns and Roses

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is, as most of you know by now, a fairytale retelling (a Beauty and the Beast one, at that!) and it’s definitely one of the most refreshing and unique retellings I’ve read! Incorporating faelore into a classic fairytale, ACOTAR is amazing. (You can check out my review on it here.)

Chips: Le Pièce de Résistance – “A must-read recommendation [if you like this book/genre—you decide!]” – Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

I absolutely love the Shatter Me series, and if you like dystopia, you must read it!! Full of action, romance, and great characters alongside a beautiful writing style, this is one series you must not miss!

Tabasco: The Kick to the Face – “Your favorite fight/action sequence” – Tiger’s Destiny

There are so many good fight scenes I can recall from books, and I definitely agree with Ashley’s pick of The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan, but I’m going to choose Tiger’s Destiny by Colleen Houck for this one, because damn the fight scene at the end of the book was intense! It was great.
