Top 10 Tuesday #8 (June 02): Top Ten Books That Are Planned to be Movies

Hello lovely bookworms! The time has come for another Top 10 Tuesday, a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is top ten books I’d love to see as movies or TV shows, but I’m going to change it up a bit and do top ten books that have been optioned/are under development/are soon to be movies, since I already covered this topic on ABEA Day 4, but oh well.

Eleanor and Park

1. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

This would make an awesome movie! There haven’t been much details about this movie yet, but the rights were purchased, I’m pretty sure. Definitely would go to see this movie!

2. All the Bright Places by Jennifer NivenAll the Bright Places_bookcover

This is also going to be a movie! I believe Elle Fanning has been chosen to play the role of Violet. You can see more details about this here. This was such a heartbreaking story, and simply amazing. Perfect for a movie!

The Night Circus_bookcover3. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

According to Popsugar, there hasn’t been any casting news yet, but Jane Eyre writer Moira Buffini will pen the script. I know lots of people loved this book so I’m definitely excited if they’re making a movie! I actually have this book on my shelf, so I’m going to try and get to it soon.

4. Dark Places by Gillian FlynnDark Places_bookcover

Don’t know much about this, but I believe Chloe Moretz (If I Stay) is going to be a part of the cast, along with several other people. I haven’t read this book yet, but I want to! (Have you read this? What did you think of it?)

The Scorch Trials_bookcover5. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

This one is already a planned movie, as it is the sequel to The Maze Runner. I know some people didn’t like The Maze Runner, but I personally was okay with it, and I’m interested in seeing how they do the second movie! Here’s the trailer:

6. Paper Towns by John GreenPaper Towns_bookcover

This is another planned movie, that will be released summer 2015 if I remember correctly, starring Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne. Check out the trailer below:

Beautiful Disaster_bookcover7. Beautiful Disaster Jamie McGuire

I have this on my TBR, and I actually just found out today that it might be a movie. Better read it soon!

8. Me Before You by Jojo MoyesMe Before You_bookcover

  • I haven’t read this yet (although I will for my Popsugar challenge) I’m dying to read it, especially now after finding out there will be a movie! Apparently Emilia Clarke will be playing the character Louisa opposite Sam Claflin.

Fantastic Beasts_bookcover9. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K Rowling

  • The queen J.K Rowling revisits the Harry Potter universe in this book about Newt Scamander, who “wrote” the textbook that Potter and his classmates would study. (Popsugar)
  • No one has been cast yet, but David Yates has signed on to direct.

10. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom RiggsMissPeregrine'sHomeforPeculiarChildren_bookcover

This will be an amazing movie! I’m not sure if it’s 100% sure that a movie will be made, but if it is, it would be awesome. According to Popsugar, Eva Green and Asa Butterfield will star, with Tim Burton directing.

So that’s it for this week’s Top 10 Tuesday! What books would you like to see as a movie/TV show? What books are being planned to be a movie/TV show? Let me know in the comments below, along with other thoughts you might have!

Happy Tuesday!

  2. I didn’t know that The Night Circus was being turned into a movie! I love the list! I can’t wait for my two favorite contemporaries- Eleanor and Park and All The Bright Places- to be turned into a movie!

    • I know right? I just found out. I think it’s still in its early stages of development, but who knows where it will go from there? 🙂
Thanks! Likewise, I can’t wait to see Eleanor and Park & All the Bright Places as movies!! ❤

  3. I really want to read The Maze Runner. I haven’t seen the movie, but it looked ok to me and the sort of thing that would have a good book behind it! 🙂

I would like to see the movie of Me Before You because I think there’s potential for it to be a better movie than book (not often that happens). I didn’t love the book as much as a lot of other people, but it’s a good story and I think a film could make the best of that.

    • You should read it!! It’s pretty good. 🙂 The movie was also pretty good I would say, even if they changed several things.
I’m glad to hear it’s a good story! I’m going to have to read it soon then.
Hm, that’s an interesting perspective! It’s not often a book would be better as a movie than book, so I’m definitely intrigued. ❤

  4. Such a great list! I have to say, I’m a little scared about Eleanor and Park, and Paper Towns as movies. I’m so, SO eager to see Paper Towns, and curious about Eleanor & Park, but, I don’t know. I’m so protective of those books, since they’re part of my favorites, part of me is scared of seeing them on the big screen. I hope it’ll turn out good! 😀
