As most of you know, ‘Shadowhunters’ started filming, and now we have another addition to the family – Hodge Starkweather has been cast!

My thoughts:
I can’t immediately see him as Hodge. Maybe because I still have the movie guy in my head? (Jared Harris.) I don’t know, I just kind of expected Hodge to be a bit more old-looking. So I wouldn’t say Jon Cor matched my idea of Hodge, however I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I haven’t seen any of the movies he was in, which puts him in as a fresh face for me. I know the producers must have seen something special in Jon, and I’m definitely excited to see how it all plays out! I’m sure Jon Cor will play Hodge perfectly. Welcome to the family, Jon!

Book Snacks 
I was more disappointed on who they cast for Clary. But that’s probably because I really liked Lily Collins as Clary in the movie. I shouldn’t really say anything because she might just surprise me with the acting. I just can’t see it because I just really liked the cast of the movie. Oh well.

Really? Clary’s casting was one of my favorites out of all, ha ha. But I definitely agree, Lily Collins was a great Clary. ❤ I can't wait to see the acting! The movie cast wasn't actually that bad, contrary to what so many people say about it, and I had a bit trouble with this cast at first! This cast is growing on me though, hopefully it will for you too! 😀

I guess from some of the screenshots posted from set I’m just not feeling her at all. But again, maybe once there’s some episodes to watch she’ll grow on me. I was surprised that so many people didn’t like the movie. I thought it followed the book pretty well compared to some other books to movies. And I really hope so because I’ve been looking forward to the show!

Yeah, once the episodes are released she might grow on you! 🙂 It will be hard to get the movie cast out of our heads, but it will be possible, I’m sure. ❤ The movie wasn't bad, I agree, but it could have been a bit better. (All movies can!) I can't wait to see the show, but there's still so much more waiting! At least we're getting picture from the set. 🙂

I actually think this is brilliant! Cassandra Clare took to twitter to make sure everyone understood that Hodge is not old and that Jon is much closer to Hodge’s age in the book than Jared ever was. So, I’m really excited and it will make more sense, because he had to train Alec, Jace and Izzy, so… 😀

Oh! I have to check that out then. 🙂 I was okay with Jared’s portrayal of Hodge, but I the image of him is still in my head and is influencing my idea of Hodge. I’m still really excited to see how it all turns out! It’s starting to make more sense to me now. ❤

yep, that’s a problem. I saw the movie before I read the book, and while I was reading – and although Jared’s image did not left my mind – I could not reconcile it with what was on the page.
She actually reminded people that Hodge is a year younger than Jocelyn, Luke and Valentine, we was like Valentine’s little follower.

Exactly, the movie made Hodge so much older than he was in the books! I still can’t see Jon Cor as Hodge completely, but I definitely understand and mostly approve!

Ha ha yes!! We still have to wait for so long… 😦 Yep, I would say so! At first I was a bit hesitant, but now I think I’m really warming up to it. I can’t imagine how I’ll feel after watching a few episodes of the show. You? 😛

same, some casting news I was pretty excited about, but others not so much. However, after the abundance of pictures from set we have been fed recently, I’m SUPER excited. I think they do look like the characters and the production team is crating the right buzz around it.

Yep! Like at first I wasn’t crazy about Alberto Rosende, but I’m getting used to him. The pictures are definitely helping in raising the excitement! They do look like the characters, mostly! Valentine, I’m not that sure about, but we’ll see. Looking forward to more pictures from the set! ❤

I dunno, now HE’s the one looking old, and he’s baldish… I’ll be able to overlook this, I’m pretty sure, if his acting is good (I didn’t see him in anything previously) but right now I’m still kind of hesitant. 🙂 Oh! Better check that out, I might’ve missed it. Thanks!

People say that he was great in Reign, like, pretty amazing! He’s the same age as the actress playing Jocelyn and the actor playing Luke, I think 🙂

Yep, I get that Hodge technically isn’t that old, but I pictured him a bit older. Just slightly. 🙂 Can’t wait to see how it all turns out though! ❤

I honestly don’t know what to think of the casting. Clary and Jocelyn are perfect to me, I think. Isabelle, Magnus and Valentine I’ve pretty much accepted. I think I’m also going to warm up to Isaiah as Luke. Jace and Simon are NOT matching my imagination, though
As for Hodge, I admit I imagined him waayy older 😛 I guess I’ll have to bring down his age in my mind’s eye now. After I’ve done that, I think I can now see a bit of Hodge in him 😛 Although I still find Jared Harris to be better suited… *shrugs*

Yeah, same here! I think I like the majority of the cast though, I mean, I’ve warmed up to them, even if they don’t exactly fit the image in my head. I love Clary and Jocelyn’s castings, as well as Isabelle and Alec’s. Valentine is okay too, along with Magnus. Isaiah seems like he’ll be a good Luke. As for Jace and Simon, I’m better towards them but they’re not what I thought they would be. 😉
Ha ha yep, same here. I did not imagine Hodge to be this young. And technically, if Hodge is so young, isn’t Valentine supposed to be as well? 😛 I mean, Valentine is only a year older than Hodge and his actor looks pretty old in comparison to this Hodge… no offence intended! XD

Hm, I think this new Hodge character is a bit young in my opinion. I see Hodge as a much older guy! Someone who looks as old or maybe older than Valentine.
