Hello! I finished this quite a while ago, but I still remember my love for this book like it was yesterday! I love Shatter Me, the first book in the Shatter Me series, and this novella was no exception!

This is going to be a more shorter review, as it is only a novella, but read on for my fangirling over this book! Note: This is a spoiler-free review, unless you haven’t read the first book. If you haven’t read the first book, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW. You have been warned. 

Quick Summary

Juliette has escaped. Now Warner has to suppress the spark of rebellion growing in his sector—not to mention find and retrieve his Juliette. But when Warner’s father, the supreme commander, returns, it’s clear he has different plans. Plans that do not involve keeping Juliette alive. But Warner will not allow it. She will be his.

My Review

There’s not much to comment on for the plot other than that it was just as enjoyable as Shatter Me, albeit the fact that this novella didn’t really have a huge storyline. The fact that we got Warner’s POV was enough. 🙂 Which brings me to my next point…

If you’ve read my review of Shatter Me, you’ll know how while reading Shatter Me I was mostly Team Adam, but a little bit of  Team Warner as well. And I can’t tell you how much this decision was tipped by this book! Destroy Me provided priceless insight into a guy we saw as cruel and sadistic in Shatter Me. My heart absolutely shattered reading his POV and I love him!! His vulnerabilities are all laid out, and I got to understand him so much more than before. I honestly fell in love with every page.

And the writing style was amazing. Tahereh Mafi has such a unique style! There was no strike-throughs this time or fragments of thoughts as in Shatter Me, but her beautiful prose was just so smooth and made this book such an easy read! I just loved it so much, I had so much fun reading her descriptions, even when they were descriptions of Warner’s heartbreak.

Overall…

This book had great Warner development, and the same prose we see in Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, without being a replica of Juliette. Definitely a recommended read, especially if you’re reading the Shatter Me series, or choosing between Team Adam and Team Warner. I couldn’t stop reading this novella, and I completely fell in love with Warner. I read this right after reading Shatter Me, but I know another fellow blogger enjoyed it reading it after the second book, Unravel Me, so I suppose it would also be up to you to choose.
