Top 10 Tuesday #6 (May 19) | Freebie: Top Ten YA Greek Mythology Books/Series

Yay! A freebie! Top 10 Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week’s theme is up to us to choose! So for mine, I chose to make a list of my top 10 YA Greek Mythology books and series. I’ll be listing both books I’ve read and books that are on my TBR.

As usual, in no particular order (All titles link to their Goodreads page):

1. Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan (Read)

This series is obviously on the list. It’s the first one that popped into my head, and for good reason!

2. Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Read)

I loved this series! It was amazing! Many people compared the series and characters to Richelle Mead’s VA series, and hated on the series as a result. I will admit there are several resemblances, but it did not ruin the books for me! If anything, they were better! (Especially since I liked the main character in Covenant, Alex, much faster than I did in VA with Rose.)

3. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini (Read)

This book also involves Greek mythology, while a more different take on it. You can check out my review on the book here.

4. The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter (read)

I also liked this book. It’s a type of re-telling of the Persephone myth, and it was well-done.

5. Abandon trilogy by Meg Cabot (read)

Another Persephone retelling, the Abandon was another enjoyable take on Persephone’s myth.

6. Goddess War trilogy by Kendare Blake (first two books read)

This is going to be an amazing trilogy, with Greek gods and goddesses as the main characters. The third book is going to be released September 22nd this year, and I’m so excited! ❤

7. The Gatekeeper’s Sons by Eva Pohler (TBR)

I’ve heard lots of good things about this modernized Greek mythology 6-book series, and I’m eager to start them!

8. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (TBR)

I’ve heard several praises on this book as well, and I can’t wait ’till I read it!

9. Persephone by Kaitlin Bevis (TBR)

Another Persephone retelling! I’m interested in seeing how the authors changed up the traditional Persephone myth to make it her own.

10. Betrayal by Mayandree Michel (TBR)

Debut novel of Mayandree Michel, Betrayal follows a girl who is the descendant of Greek gods. Seems very interesting, can’t wait to read it!

Teaser Tuesday #6 (May 19): World After by Susan Ee & Animal by Nikki Rae

Hi there! It’s Tuesday, so that means for a Teaser Tuesday post! Teaser Tuesday is a meme hosted by Jenn @ A Daily Rhythm where we:

  • Grab our current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) one “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include spoilers (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesdays participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“I’m asking the questions here, Raffe. This is serious.”

“Is it a chance for you to provide redemption?” He hopes off the chair and finally turns to look at me.
When he sees me, his shoulders shake in a silent laugh that quickly builds into a full chuckle. Raffe’s laugh is something I would normally enjoy, except that he’s clearly laughing at me.
I look down at my outfit. I admit I might have rushed a bit too much while getting dressed upstairs.
What looked like a muted patterned sweater by the light of one candle turns out to leopard-spotted by the light of several candles. And because it’s so big on me, it folds and hangs everywhere. What I took to be a dark scarf around my waist turns out to be a red tie and my brown socks are actually a mismatched pair of pink and purple.
“Why is it everyone else can look like they’re part of a zombie hunting party, but I still have to worry about fashion?”
He won’t stop snickering. “You look like a leopard-spotted Shar-Pei.”

-World After by Susan Ee (83%)

They were back at the house. The lock from outside opened easily under his strong hand. He did not have the time or strength to crawl back up through the window. Once inside, Evan settles Ava’s small body on the couch and started a fire. He changed her out her dirty, damp clothes and covered her with a blanket. Her brow was creased and she coughed more often. He could hear how wet her lungs were without even using the stethoscope. He wondered if he left her here, without giving her any medicine, would it be better than what Michael had planned as a punishment? Was it better for her to die of a natural cause, from something within her own body?
Should he kill her instead if it came to that? Could he do it again?

-Animal by Nikki Rae (66%)

I’m enjoying both books so far (especially World After–only started it yesterday!) and am looking forward to completing them both.

What do you think of these teasers? Interested in either of these books? Read either of these books? Let me know in the comments below! ❤
