Guys, I’m super excited to announce this little special tidbit of news: the casting for Clary in the ‘Shadowhunters’ TV show HAS BEEN CHOSEN!!!
So, as most of you guys know, Cassandra Clare’s bestselling The Mortal Instruments series will be made into a TV show (check out my intro post on it here), and so far we have a cast of (check out my thoughts on Simon & Isabelle casting here):
And now, ABC Family has found their Clary in…
Katherine McNamara
About Katherine:
The star is currently 19 years old, and will appear in the upcoming adaptation of The Maze Runner sequel, The Scorch Trials as Sonya (a past leader of Group B). She starred in the 2011 film New Year’s Eve and has been in a variety of TV shows in the past few years.
My thoughts:
I feel like she looks like a good Clary! I liked Lily Collins in the movie, but I think Katherine will be just as good, if not more. There’s just something about Katherine that just gives off a Clary vibe to me. She’s gorgeous, and the ‘cute’ factor that is just so Clary. Plus, she looks really good with red hair. 🙂

Oh my gosh, but she’s pretty too? Since Clary is a mundane I thought should would look… well ordinary. As much as I adore Lily Collins, I thought she was too pretty. I guess most actresses are attractive looking though. Anyway, I’m sure Katherine McNamara will do great though! I’m getting more and more psyched with these updates! 😀

Lily Collins is gorgeous, it’s true. 🙂 But Clary isn’t only a mundane… I don’t want to spoil anything, so yeah… Katherine is also super pretty though, most actresses are. 😉 Same here, I’m liking the choice for Clary! ❤ Can't wait to find out more about the rest of the cast! (*cough* Magnus *cough* Alec *cough* every other TMI character)

Haha, I did finish the TMI series, so no worries! But for some reason in my mind I pictured Clary to look average? I think there’s a scene in City of Bones where Clare writes about Clary looking into the mirror and taking a look at her normal and ordinary features. I don’t know, it’s been a while since I’ve read them. Maybe this is a whole misconception in my mind. 😛 After all this casting talk, I’m really tempted to watch City of Bones now, I’ve actually never seen it! 🙂

Oh, phew! I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. 🙂 Yeah, I guess I see what you mean, but then again, many YA female heroines undermine their beauty, so that might be the angle the producers are playing. You should see it! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. I mean, it wasn’t the best movie and you might find yourself harshly judging, but you should try it out. 😀

I have heard that quite a lot, it’s been a while since I’ve read City of Bones (though I remember it being epic), maybe I’ll be able to watch it as an unbiased viewer then! I’ll get back with you when I do. 🙂

In my opinion, I was so happy with all the cast from the movie! But, I think these characters fit nicely. Katherine is gorgeous and I think would do nicely as Clary!

I was pretty happy with the cast from the movie as well, especially with Robert Sheehan as Simon. However, i’m definitely coming to terms with the new cast, and I’m absolutely liking Katherine as Clary! Glad you agree. 😀

First of all, thank you for keeping us updated about this cast ! 🙂 I didn’t know this actress before, but she’s gorgeous, and I agree with you, she definitely has a little something that makes me think about Clary, too. I can’t wait to see her in character! 🙂

I know, they do! Clary’s hair is supposed to be a shade of red, I believe, and so she might have to dye her hair if it’s currently blonde or something. 😄 Her hair might currently be ginger though (I’ve seen several pictures of her with ginger hair) in which case she might not dye her hair.
