Hi there! I’m super excited to present this little casting update on The Mortal Instruments (series by Cassandra Clare) TV show, ‘Shadowhunters’ (check out my post on it here): they’ve casted Isabelle and Simon!
As most of you know, Dominic Sherwood has been cast as Jace, and now we have Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia joining the cast!
I have to admit, Alberto Rosende is far from what I had in mind for Simon. I really liked Robert Sheehan as Simon in the City of Bones movie, and I’m kind of disappointed he’s not coming back for the show, although in the back of my mind I expected it. I’m definitely going to keep an open mind, and hopefully I’ll come to see him more of a Simon.
As for Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle, I can kind of see it, however again I feel like Jemima West (from the movie) did a pretty good job for Isabelle. I’m not against Emeraude as Isabelle, I just have not completely come to terms with it yet. I haven’t seen any of the previous movies she’s been in, so I can’t say what I think of her acting skills, so I’m looking forward to seeing how she is.
Overall, I can’t completely see in my mind these two actors as Simon and Isabelle, but hopefully that will change as I watch the show.

Book Snacks 
I didn’t see the City of Bones movie because a lot of my bookworm/nonbookworm friends have told me I’d hate it, so I don’t know how that cast looks like (other than Lily Collins and the guy that played Jace). I pretty much agree with you, neither of these characters really fit with what I had in my imagination. The Isabella actress is really pretty though, and I’ve never really put a face to her character. Anyway, I’m sure they’ll do a great job!

Hmm, you should search up Robert Sheehan, I’m sure you’ll agree with me on him as a good Simon (in terms of looks). His acting was also quite good. Yeah, she is really pretty, I’m sure I’ll ee her as Isabelle soon enough as I watch the show. ❤

I looked him up. AND OH MY GOODNESS, HE’S TOTALLY SIMON!! Wow, this kind of makes me a little disappointed with this guy. Nevertheless, I’m still super excited!

I can’t imagine him being Simon also although Emeraude could pass as Isabelle, I guess. I’m excited to find out who Alec and Clary would be 😀

Yeah, I know! He just doesn’t seem like a Simon… but Emeraude is clicking a bit more for me as Isabelle, I can kind of picture her playing Isabelle. Can’t wait to see who plays Alec and Clary as well! ❤

Ah yes true! Of course, the show has to be enough of a success for the producers to continue adapting the series after City of Bones, but I have high hopes. 😀

I wasn’t sure about Alberto at first (not at all) but then I saw pictures of him with glasses and he looked a lot more like Simon!

Oh really? I’m going to have to check that out; I really want to approve of the cast! 🙂 I have hopes that this will turn out really good and I don’t want it to be ruined by my disapproval of the cast, you know?

Wow, thanks for this post, without you I wouldn’t have known about this! I feel the same way: I don’t see Alberto Rosende as Simon, at all. I loved the actor they picked for City of Bones, and I’m a bit disappointed it’s not the same guy…I never had a precise face in mind, to play Isabelle, though. Hopefully, both of them will do a great job, a tv show is such an exciting news! 🙂

No problem, I didn’t know about it either and when I found out I was super excited and just had to share the news. 🙂 Yeah, the actor for the movie played Simon really well! I can kind of see Emeraude as Isabelle, although she wasn’t what I expected either. I have high hopes the show will turn out good though! 😀 The fact that there will be a TV show itself is amazing news.
